Hydrocodone Withdrawal

My reg doc has had me on hydros since 09. He recently sent me to a pain specialist who put needles in my spine. The PS gave a Rx of ibuprofen equivalent to 4 reg ibuprofen... I am in more pain now than before. Should I go back to my reg doc to be weaned off of these? I am suffering a migraine, fever, shaking, and my heart feels like it beating out of my chest. I have been taken 2 a day, just as prescribed, I can't tolerate pain like most, I'm very sensitive to pain like I am having! ## Hello, Christin! How are you feeling? A sudden withdrawal of a narcotic like Hydrocodone could cause rebound pain that can be worse than the pain you were already treating. The same holds true, if your dose was just suddenly lowered. Is the Ibuprofen the only thing that you're taking, now? ## ...

I've only been out of pills for a day, and I'm having withdrawals (was trying to tough it out a little longer, big mistake). Until my Rx comes through, any suggestions? I've taken some Xanax just to calm down a bit. *Have been on Hydro for awhile now due to issues with my feets if that matters. And also, I've been wondering if anyone has ever had any luck ordering hydrocodone or oxycodone online? I never tire of hearing a good scam story lol, but has anyone had success (no need to tell company names!)? ## If you are running out early, you should really discuss the problem with your doctor, to see if they can adjust your dosage or dosing interval and prevent such problems. Benzodiazepines are frequently given to help with minor withdrawal symptoms, however, they don't...

I've been on hydrocodone 10/325 for about a year and take 3-4 per day. My pain issues are no more, and I want to stop using the hydrocodone. I have pretty bad withdrawal symptoms after about 12 hours of non-use. How long do the withdrawal symptoms normally last? Would I be better to taper or just stop using the medication cold turkey. ## I'm no doc, bt was on that medicine for a while, bt didn't ever hv bad withdrawals. . However, I've heard by many, it's better to taper than cold turkey & keep in mind, it can be dangerous to do on your own, so I really encourage you to tapper & possibly speak w someone who knows more medically about the issue! Best of luck! ## Yes, Luna is correct, it is better to taper, rather than just stop abruptly, especially with how lo...

Will switching to Percocet from lot tabs cause any withdrawal symptoms? ## Hello, Cat! How are you? In theory, it shouldn't, because the Oxycodone in Percocet is stronger than the Hydrocodone. However, the doses will matter, can you please post back with them? For example, for each 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone you were taking, you'd need 5mgs of Oxycodone to be equivalent. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I have been taking Hydrocodone 10/325 four times a day now for over 11 years. Actually, when I started it was Morphine 25mg Extended Tabs twice a day plus Hydrocodone 10/660 four times per day but I cut the Morphine out. Then as the law changed it dropped to 10/500 then to 10/325 and that's where I am now. I always take as prescribed but I want off the pills. I took my last pill 60 hours ago and am experiencing a lot of pain due to my chronic pain and I'm sure withdrawal is making it worse as well. I'm just wondering what can I expect moving forward and what if I happen to take a pill just to be able to sleep at night? Will the one pill start me all over with the symptoms? ## Typically, it wouldn't, but we are all different, so there is no way to make any promises. The F...

I've been on Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 5/325 since 2000, for osteoarthritis. What is the best way to stop taking them? Do I slowly back out of them? I'm in my seventies and I fear the withdrawal symptoms will be too much for me. I'm also concerned that I will suddenly be told I won't be able to take them anymore. Due to the current attitude and caution about opioids, I skipped some doses in order to have extras, in case. I want to have some extra pills available so I can back out of this drug more slowly if this happens. I'd like to be able to stop taking them completely and still have a life and the ability to do things for myself. ## How often are you taking them ? If you are taking them several times a day, you can take 1/2 a tablet instead of a whole tablet for s...

Side effects of getting off of hydro codons ## I haven't taken Hydro's for 5 days. The only side effect I'm having is a lot of fatigue. I don't want to do anything because I get so tired and a little restlessness at night. Before I go to bed, I drink a cup of Sleepy Time tea, take one Passion Flower pill 250MG & before I know it, I want to go to bed. The side effects that some people may experience when you stop taking Hydros may be: cold flashes w/goose bumps, excessive yawning or sneezing, extreme drowsiness, diarrhea, insomnia, involuntary leg movements, mood changes, muscle and bone pain, sweats and strong drug craving. Go to google and ck all this out. Good luck my friend. Be strong. ## A SUGGESTION TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE TRYING TO FIGHT WITHDRAWAL FROM OPIATES: Go...

Been on suboxones for over a year. I stopped taking them for a week because of some dental work. I was in so much pain needing a root canal and I realized that no matter how many hydrocodones I took, it did nothing for pain. I am thinking it's because I've been on suboxones. Anyway, I want to start back on suboxones, but I am nervous to when to start taking them. The last time I took hydrocodone was about 17 hours ago. I do not feel any withdrawal symptoms from stopping them. When would I be safe to take my suboxone? ## Hello, Ricsgirl! How are you? Suboxone actually contains 2 ingredients, the opiate Buprenorphine and Naloxone, which neutralizes other opiates to help prevent their abuse, while someone is under treatment with it. The Naloxone is most likely why the Hydrocodone d...

Hi all! A little info of my history: I've been a Hydrocodone user for over a year. A typical daily dose would be 18-20 10mg Norco. I've decided to go cold turkey. On Monday @ 8:30 am I took ONE 8mg Suboxone to hold my withdrawals off while I got things situated before l start WDing. It's been 50 hours since my ONE dose of Suboxone and I still haven't felt any WD's. So my question to you all is in your opinion when shall I anticipate my WD symptoms? ## How did this go for you? Were you fine after 50 hours? ## I have been on Hydrocodone for years. I missed my appointment and it is a holiday. I took about 1mg or less of a suboxone strip because of shakes and withdrawal symptoms... That was about 5 hours ago. I am getting a pill because I do not want to take more of the ...

Been on this for years and again these 2172 are not the same. They must differ in someplace. I get nauseous from them. After taking them almost 20 years there has to be something off here or I wouldn't feel this way. I can take a 10/660 Watson be fine and take a 5/325 2172 and within 30 min I want to vomit! ## Well, you are mentioning 2 different dosages, the pill with the 2172 marking contains 5mgs of Hydrocodone, and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, it is distributed by Major Pharmaceuticals. NDC: 00904-6567 So, if you are used to taking a higher dose, such as the other you've mentioned, then you may be experiencing some withdrawal effects, which may include nausea, headache, vomiting, rebound pain, and sedation, according to FDA reports. Was your dosage supposed to be changed?

I have been on Hydrocodone for a fractured neck from a motorcycle accident. I am now off after having terrible withdrawal symptoms. This drug is very very addictive and your system will become immune to it very quickly if taken long term. I am now on Ultram which is a form of narcotic but not addictive. Really helps a lot. ## Ultram is not really a narcotic, they classify it as one because it is dervice from an Opiate, however its properties are actually those of an antiinflammatory. And yes. Hydrocodone is very addictive, though it you were taking it as prescribed by your doctor, they should have helped you taper off and minimize the withdrawal effects. ## I'm going to respond to Verwon, even though his post is 9 yrs old, just in case someone has the same problem now. There was a d...

is it hard to get off this pill i am taking 4 day for my back ## The active narcotic in this, Hydrocodone, can be habit forming, even when it's not abused, but it will really depend on how long you've been taking it. If you haven't been on it for many months or years, then any possible withdrawal effects should be minimal, but can include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and drowsiness, as well as rebound pain. I have been on hydroco done for a long time I have had two back surgery I'm trying to get off this meds it's for ever 6 hours I'm down to 1-1/2 a day but my legs keep me up at night and have had headaches how long does this last the with drawls ## Yes hydro is a opiate no doubt, I have to be honest with you, is it just me, I found hydro is better than oxy, everybody loves oxy and my doctor put me on it, but I really find hydro is better, anyone else feel this or am I nuts? ## Hello, Sassy! How are you? The withdrawal effects may last for a couple of weeks, perhaps up to a month. As reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, diarrhea, fever, chills and anxiety. Godsaven, it can vary from person to person, while Oxycodone does work well for some people, that is not t...

771 ## My husband has been taking Hydrocodone 5-500 for 10 days. It is not helping his back pain. Can he safely stop this narcotic after 10 days with out withdrawal symptoms, and can he start taking extra strength Tylenol right away? ## A round white tablet with the 771 marking is distributed by Paddock Laboratories, and they list it as containing 325mgs of Acetaminophen, which is a generic, or store brand of Tylenol. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation. Sandra, the Tylenol will not be as potent as the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen. Has he consulted his doctor? He might need a higher dosage, or to try a different medication. While causing some similar side effects, the FDA also warns that this medication carries th...

I took my first Contrave this morning and it will be my last! I am on long-term hydrocodone due to spinal stenosis. My doctor told me I would have more pain due to the opioid blockers in Contrave. However I got hit with stomach cramps, severe diarrhea, chills, and terrible nausea (sitting on the loo with my head in a waste basket). Is this why people lose weight, because they're so nauseous they want to die? Maybe remembering how horrible I felt will help me curb my bad eating habits because I wouldn't take another Contrave if I were at gunpoint!! ## Hello, Pam! How are you? I think that what you experienced was actually precipitated withdrawal caused by the opiate blocker in it. Generally, these medications should not be given to someone that is on an opiate, unless they are al...

I've been taken 20 to 30 MGs of hydrocodone daily for one year. I'm running out of pills and don't want to go to the doctor for anymore refills if I just stop cold turkey will I have withdrawals and if so how bad are hydrocodone withdrawals and how long do they last? ## I've been taking hydrocodone 7.5's for a year. I take 3 to 5 per day. They really don't do much for me anymore, I know that I am physically dependent onthem and want to just stop. I have a new prescription for Wellbeturin to help me quit smoking will that help with the hydrocodone withdrawals? What type of withdrawl shall I I expect and what can I do to help get through them with over-the-counter medications? ## Withdrawals shouldn't be too bad, just stop when you run out, our bodies adjust pr...

I stopped taking 1 mg clonazepam one/day maybe five-six days ago because I have a back injury which has flared up and I had to take hydrocodone.... I also take zolpidem and lisinopril and levothyroxine regularly and was taking benedryl for allergies.... I quit taking the benedry and clonazempam because a nurse friend of my friend said they should not all be taken together. Originally I was also on prozac 20mg. I started most of these when my husband died suddenly a few years ago. The last few days I thought I had the flu really bad because I had terrible joint and muscle aches, then horrendous headaches and a continuous slight nausea. Starting yesterday, I have had repeated panic attacks and I am scared.... I called the clonazepam hotline for help and they really just have volunteers an...

I was taking 2-scripts for oxy and now taking Zubsolv but just ran out after 65 days. I'm miserable not as bad as withdrawal from oxy but bad enough. I've got cold chills and sweating at the same time. Horrible feeling. Did anyone on here experience this when they were finished with Zubsolv? ## Hello, Matt! How are you? Zubsolv contains a very potent narcotic, Buprenorphine, so yes, it will cause withdrawals if you suddenly stop taking it, without tapering off very slowly. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What dosage were you taking? ## Hi, I was on hydrocodone 10 mg and 100 mg nyucenta. The reason I was on those is because I have had 2 foot/ank...

i've been taking this for 2 years. i only take 1/2 and most days i only take 3 halves. i can go 8-12 hours when i sleep without any withdrawal. my pain doc isn't concerned about me being addicted. said my dose is too low. ## What has your doctor suggested? Does he want you to start taking more? There may be an issue with your taking less than what you're supposed to, that does leave some medication unaccounted for and your doctor has to worry about that, due to government regulations. They are supposed to make sure that you are taking all of it, as prescribed, no more and no less. I know that sounds kind of crazy, but it is something they need to monitor. ## about a year ago he asked me if i needed more. i told him i didn't. there's no way he can monitor how much i t...

My doctor changed my medication from Lortab 7.5 500 to Norco 7.5 325, but now i'm super sleepy for about 2 hours now. Any answers ? ## It might be a slight withdrawal effect, due to the lower amount of Acetaminophen, because it potentiates the Hydrocodone. It usually takes about a week or so, for your body to adjust. However, if it continues past that, or worsens, you should consult your doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Its been about 1 1/2 months, but I just found out. The lower the apap the higher Hydrocodone, that's what's make me sleepy now. If you take 1 tylenol with it - it reduces the...
