can you stop it immediately or taper off ## Hi Pat, Due to the number of complaints regarding withdrawal symptoms associated with Lyrica, I would highly recommend that you taper off this dangerous drug instead of stopping it abruptly. Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. It may also be a good idea to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about writing up a tapering schedule for you on a calendar to give you an idea of how long it might take before you can safely stop taking it. I hope this helps! ## Hi Pat, I have bee...

I have been taking contrive for 2 months. I haven't lost any weight on it as I cannot exercise because I need knee replacement surgery. How long before the surgery do I need to discontinue contrave? Even though I am not losing weight, I am feeling better....should I ask my doctor to put me on wellbutrin instead? ## @T, Usually surgeons will tell their patients if and when they need to stop taking a specific medication prior to an operation. My understanding is that this should be standard practice on the surgeons part, to at least ask if you if you are on any medications when you fill out forms on your initial visit. If this wasn't done, I would just encourage you to seek out their opinion asap since it's something they need to be made aware of in case of emergency (god forb...

I had taken losartan50/hctz 12.5 for 10 years, In recently years I suffered dry coughing and bad running nose allergy. I found out this is the side effect of losartan. Cutting the dose to half, changing to a water pill.. did not solve the problem. Over this holiday I developed bronchitis and was quite ill. I had very bad coughing, losing voice, sinus infection, nose bleeding, etc. I stopped taking Losartan to avoid further complications. I notified my doctor that I will check my blood pressure if the record is not over 140-90. I will keep the Losartan off. What else can I do? ## Hello, Muchin! How are you doing? Have your symptoms improved, yet? The FDA lists other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. However,...

I take 15 mg morphine 3 times a day. It's not helping anymore and I was told to not just stop taking it. How should I work my way off of it? ## You may need a higher dosage, or to try a different medication. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as constipation, dry mouth, headache, nausea, and dizziness. If you really want to stop taking it, a slow taper is best and your doctor should be able to help you set up a proper and safe schedule for doing so. Are you on any other medications?

I've been on Nuzak for 4 months now and stopped using it about 5 days ago. Last night I had this pain between my breasts and my gums, can it be a side effect? Otherwise I feel fine. ## Hello, Mandy! How are you? Where was the pain located? Your breast and gums are quite far apart. Did you mean chest pain or mouth pain? If you stopped taking it suddenly, then yes you may experience withdrawal effects, but if you're having chest pain, you need to have that checked out as soon as possible.

I have been taking Lisiniprol 10 mg 1 tab per day for the past 4 yrs and BP has been quite normal, so yes it does work. Like any other drug watch closely and see your doctor if you notice any harsh side effects. I would say for me yes I do get the cough on and off, dry tickle, cough, cough. It's annoying but I don't know if it's enough to stop taking it as it seems to be working well otherwise. I do however worry about the long term use (if it's OK) and if I were to stop I have read that it's not a good idea to stop cold turkey, any suggestions of how to stop, perhaps I should consult with Doctor?? P.S. I am over 50 ## You shouldn't stop, without your doctor's approval, because while your blood pressure may be normal now, the medication may be the only thing ...

I had shingles in my head and part of my face ner eye area I started taking 75 Gm twice a day then I took it once a day, and now I am taking 25 Gm twice a day, I want to stop it. ## In my opinion, such a low dose. Try one 25 gm a day for a few days and then nothing. ## I can only assume you didn't mean grams, gm, but rather mgs, as in milligrams. Can you please post back and clarify? At such a low dose, there should not be any need to taper. The FDA warns that the typical withdrawal effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, fever, and chills. ## Hi, I have been tapering from 2x75mg a day for 5weeks then dropped to 2x50mg, now on 2 weeks of 1x25mg then stop all together. How do I come off them without getting any side effects ? ## I have been taking 75mg. of Lyrica three times a day for about three months, and I want to stop it. How do I safely stop it to avoid withdrawal systoms? I have had blistered skin, fever, chills, headache, mood changes, just about the worse side effects listed. The fever is into the fourth week, I cry easily, I am depressed, I can not eat as I have so much gas that if I make myself eat, I vomit. Yes, it fixed my cold feet I have suffered from with Diabetic neuropathy for years. But, my life has become miserable. ## Hello, Arnie and Kathy! How are you both? I Take a treatment from 1.5 month for stopped using opium after 15 day leave it. but now i taking qudict continuous in a day 2, 3, or till 4 because i feel same as opium. so it is placed as opium now how can stop it ## Hi, Banshi! Normally, the Qudict needs to be tapered very slowly and it can take time, depending on how long you were using the opium. It is also very potent opiate, so it can't be stopped abruptly and can also be habit forming. Learn more Qudict details here. Have you consulted your doctor?

What Happens If You Just Stop taking Multaq , will my weight go back, in other words will I lose the 23 lbs that I've gained since I started Maltaq 2 yrs ago.??? ## It's a bit difficult to say, actually. If the weight gain was solely caused by the Multaq then yes, you will most likely lose the weight once you stop taking it. However, if the weight gain was just due to natural aging, being sedentary, a bad diet or etc. then there will likely not be any change, unless the situation is changed and, unfortunately, aging is something we can't change. Learn more Multaq details here. And before you stop taking it, it is vital that you talk to your doctor, because stopping abruptly could result in rebound effects that may be dangerous. Are there any other questions or comments?

Is it possible to reduce/control triglyceride levels naturally? I'm stopping fenofibrate, strictly following a diet and doing vigorous daily exercise to reduce 10 percent of my weight. ## Yes, it is possible and many people have done it. More recent studies in the U.S. have shown that these medications do not actually improve longevity and that elevated cholesterol levels do not cause a higher risk of heart disease and stroke. I am sure more studies are needed, but I am relaying what the current NIH reports detail. How high were your triglycerides? And what types of foods do you usually eat? How much exercise do you usually get each day? Are you on any other medications?

I have been taking way too much gabapentin for several years now. I started taking it to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms from suboxone. Then I started taking more and more and found out that stopping gabapentin has its own terrible withdrawal. I take about twenty 600mg gabapentin pills a day. More or less depending on how much I have. When I run out the withdrawal is pretty bad but what's worse is that it lasts way too long. It takes at least the days to get through the worst of it. I could just really use some help. Does suboxone help alleviate gabapentin/lyrica withdrawal symptoms? ## A slow taper is usually the best and safest way to stop, since an abrupt withdrawal could create the risk of seizures, according to the FDA, along with nausea, fever, chills, anxiety, rebound pain...

What program should I follow to taper off and finally stop taking Losartan? ## Hello, Bob! How are you? What condition are you taking it to treat? If you have high blood pressure and stop taking it, you create the risk of your blood pressure going back up, again. There is actually no cure for high blood pressure, it can only be managed. This is especially risky, if the medication is the only thing keeping it down. Elevated blood pressure creates the risk of heart attack, stroke and congestive heart failure. Are you also watching what you eat and getting plenty of exercise? Losartan is an ARB that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension, increased urination and headache. ## Thank you for the informat...
