The new formulated oxycontin that has op takes a long time to work since taking this new formulated oxycontin I developed staph (staff) infection. I do not think that it is fair for the people like me that don't snort them or inject them intervenously that they were changed. It's also very hard to swallow them. In the news it came out that a person that was prescribed the new formulated oxycontin had to go to the emergency room because the medicine got stuck in his throat. It is not fair that they were changed expecially because alot of people don't abuse them and actually need them for severe pain. I went to the emergency room with the staph infection and ofcourse I was told that it had nothing to do with the new formulated op but I have heard from different people that alo...

This is the number to Purdue when calling select Opt # 2 and explain the adverse reaction that you are having from the new reformulated Oxycontin. The number is 888-726-7535. If the new type is working for you then great. I and several people I spoke with said it gets stuck in your throat even with food. Plus it does not last 12 hour. I understand why they re-made it kids should not take it and as far as how people take it snort, inject or chew its their business. Nobody should tell another ADULT how to live his or her life. It sucks to live in pain it really does. Good Luck All ## The new Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. However, there have been many complaints about it causing weird side effects or not working. To get someone to take notice of the prob...

My doctor switched me to Oxycontin 80MG from Oxycodone IR 30MG. What is the difference between the two? I read all these forums and many of them are about abusing them and I am not interested in doing that for fear of dying. So, what will happen if I chew them? I would like the best way to make my pain go away but I would not mind the euphoria/Hi from them but I am not wiling to snort or inject. Can someone tell me the difference between these pills and if anyone has chewed these pills and what is the effects of doing so. ## The one that you were receiving with the IR designation were instant release Oxycodone, but the Oxycontin is a time released formulation, meant to slowly release the medication over a 12 hour period. And with the new formulation with the OP marking, chewing them wil...

Here is a piece about a group trying to stop pain medicines from being made generic unless its the way they want it made. By StopOxy A national organization that fights prescription drug abuse is sounding the alarm about the possibility of pain pills without safety features being released to pharmacies across the nation. The nonprofit Center for Lawful Access and Abuse Deterrence (CLAAD) is urging the FDA to prevent the return of crushable versions of OxyContin and Opana. This Org is Raising the Alarm about Abusable Painkillers Under government pressure, the makers of these powerful opioid drugs reformulated their products to prevent abuse. The new versions of the drugs are resistant to crushing, making it impossible to smoke, snort or inject the drugs in order to circumvent their time-...

New pain doctor wants to put a morphine pump in place of meds been taking (80mg oxycontin times 2 a day) (30mg oxycodone times 4 a day) Any info good or bad trying to research this she decided this on my first visit. ## The pain pumps usually give most people better pain control and the medication is injected directly into your blood stream, so they also work much faster for pain relief. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Ultimately the decision is up to you. You may want to set up an appointment with your doctor to discuss all of the pros and cons, so you are better informed and better equipped to weigh your options. Round, pink, with a 20 on one side of the pill, and op on the other side of the pill. ## This is the new Oxycontin product from Purdue, it has replaced the original product and has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Side effects are supposed to remain the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Read more: Are there any questions or comments? ## Can you inject the new Pink OXYCONTIN 20 AND IF SO HOW? PAIN IS A MAJOR ISSuE AND i require assistance ## While I'm aware this medication has been redesigned to "prevent" injection my (limited) understanding is that there is still a way. As such I am in search if this method.

I have had 4 nerve blocks, trigger point injections, and allergic reaction to suboxone and fentalyn for three herniated discs lower back. I had to go back to oxycontin. My doctor has stopped taking workers' comp and I can't find another pain management doctor that will prescribe meds. I have been told that an operation cannot guarantee being pain free, and may make me worse, which I can't imagine living with. My life is consumed with living with this, and the government should stay out of the doctor patient relationship or question it for people who do not use drugs recreationally or abuse them. Government is scaring doctors away from treating the people who desperately need them. Does anyone know a pain management doctor in Nassau County, South Shore near Oceanside? Thanks ...

This I have found to be correct, as far as the newly formulated version that is abuse-proof and cannot be snorted or injected intravenously. ## That is correct, this is a 20mg Oxycontin OP tablet, the new product from Purdue. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Learn more: Are there any questions or comments?

This is the newly formulated version of OxyContin that's time released no matter what (coating or none). It is definitely abuse-proof and cannot be snorted or injected intravenously. ## That is correct, this is a 20mg Oxycontin OP tablet, however, I wouldn't describe it as abuse proof, because there are always people that will figure out a way to abuse them. Purdue has just tried to make it a bit harder for them to do so. It is a narcotic, so it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and dizziness. Learn more: Are there any questions or comments?

yes they are real oxycontin(brand ), but they cannot be shaved, chewed, smoked, or injected. They gel up inastantly. ## That is correct, the new Oxycontin OP has been specially designed to help prevent abuse. Even if you try to crush, chew or dissolve it, it retains its time released properties. Otherwise, it works the same and may cause the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Read more: Are there any questions? ## These are a new generic they have released for a small trial the OC/80 pills will still be given in perscriptions and are still being sold Nationwide. The OC manufactuers let the copyrights be bought by another company so they could make more money off of there formula since they get payed a % from the companies that use it. My husband swears that op is not OxyContin please verifiy this for me ## It is Oxycontin, it is just a new formulation of it that was specially prepared to help prevent abuse. Basically, if someone tries to break it down to snort or inject it, it turns into a gummy goo that retains its time released properties. The change, however, has resulted in it not working as well for some people that had been taking it and there are also some that have experienced unusual side effects. It is even still manufactured by the same company, Purdue Pharma. Is there anything else I can help with? Learn more Oxycontin details here. ## What is op? Oxycontin is morphine.Endone & oxycodone are the same & break down the same way morphine does!

STILL LOOKING FOR ANY NEWS ON WETHER OR NOT THEY'RE WILL BE A LAWSUIT AGAINST PURDUE AND ITS NEW FORMULATION OF OXYCONTIN AND HOW ITS ROTTING PATIENTS TEETH. ## As a point of awareness, the original "OC" version of OxyContin can cause tooth damage. Actually, ANY narcotic can damage the teeth. Heroin, morphine, oxycodone, codeine, hydrocodone - makes no difference. Time release, instant release, injection, suppository - delivery method isn't important either. Any opiate or opioid can cause dry mouth - which can damage teeth. Another often overlooked factor is that these drugs cause sedation and drowsiness: not unusual for someone to take their dose and fall asleep without brushing or flossing teeth. ## I would like to find out if there is any class action lawsuits involvi...

BEST METHOD {edited for safety} DO WITH IT AS YOU WILL IT IS THE BEST METHOD I FOUND ## And none of these methods are safe, since these tablets contain fillers and not all of them are meant to be broken down by the human body, they are normally expelled in your waste. Regardless of what you try to do, to process the tablets, some of these fillers will still remain and you will be putting them into your body in a way, in which, it cannot process them out. This can cause blockages, which could lead to extreme health problems, such as strokes or embolisms. I've tried everyting with the new Op Oxycontin and this is the best and only way to do this. {edited for safety} ## The best way to take this pill is to follow the instructions on the bottle. Obviously the new OP was made for a reason, and likewise a pill is a pill for a reason- to take orally. For those who do not know how to take this pill orally, here are instructions: "Swallow oxycodone extended-release tablets whole; do not chew, break, divide, crush, or dissolve them. If you swallow broken, chewed, or crushed extended-release tablets, you will receive the entire dose of oxycodone at once, instead of slowly over 12 hours. This may cause serious problems, including overdose and death." This is referenced from the link above. Hopefully someone will take this to heart; if ...

Im looking for the best way to inject the new oxycontins. Im betting there is a better way. If anyone knows of one, Im all ears. {edited for safety} ## Injecting medications that have not been specially formulated to use in this manner is a very dangerous practice. Tablets contain fillers and not all of them are intended to be used and broken down by the human body. Some of them are substances that are normally just expelled in your waste. When you break down a tablet and inject it, you are putting these substances directly into your body, in places where it cannot get rid of them. You run the risk of creating blockages that can lead to serious health problems, including pulmonary embolisms, stroke and death. This doesn't even go into the abuse and potential overdose factors. how do you use a op 80 if you are injecting it ## This is actually not a safe practice! Most tablets contain fillers, which are not meant to be broken down by the human body, they are normally just expelled in your waste. If you try to break them down, to inject them, then you are putting these substances into your body in a way, in which, it cannot process them out. This can lead to blockages, which could cause stroke, embolisms and other health problems. I would have to think that it is probably even more dangerous, because of the new formulation of this medication, which has been specially designed to prevent this type of usage.
