I have been on mirtazapine at 15mg for two weeks, I feel like a walking zombie and my moods are vile! I am agitated and hot tapered with my husband and children making me a nightmare to live with. Today the doctor has prescribed me 30mg as I have always been on such a high dose of Citalopram before we tapered off, that she thinks my side effects may be because I need more antidepressant in the system but agreed it might be because they don't suit me but we won't know until we've tried them for 5-6weeks. My question is will I always be tired and zombie like?...and also will I always be hot tempered and agitated? Or will these symptoms wear off as at the moment I just feel like stopping the damn things! Would really appreciate the opinions of those who have experienced this dr...

Would anybody reccomend Mirtazapine for uses of getting to sleep at night as both me and my grandmother struggle with getting to sleep over the whole week i get approx 3-4hrs total and have suffered sleep deprovation resulting in regular halucinations i just want a decent nights sleep ## Hello, Haribo86! How are you? It may help, but it will likely take several weeks. When you first start taking it, you may experience the side effect of ROL, which is REM onset latency, it causes you to spend less time in REM sleep than usual and it can take 3 to 4 weeks for things to improve and for that side effect to go away. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and weight gain. Has it been prescribed for you?

I have been on Mirtazapine for 2 weeks. What am I supposed to feel like when it kicks in? ## I been on mirtazapine 30mg. now for 3 years. I take 1/4 pill twice daily and one before bed and one when i wake up in middle of the night. I missed a dose and realized i could feel my emotions which felt good so i decided to try to slowly withdrawl. I cut the pill in quarters and was going to take 1/4 less each week. Tomorrow will be the first full week taking the 1/4 pill less and i feel like crap. I'm 62 yrs old bty. This med. numbs my emotions, but I am going to go back to the 30mg. because i can't take these withdrawl symptoms. Can't believe they are this bad from cutting out 1/4 pill. My muscles ache and my anxiety and panic attacks are really bad and just feel sick. I just deci...

## I started taking 15 mg of Mirtazapine a month ago and for anxiety, feelings of fear and worry and depression. I’m still feeling some worry and fear. I’m having some bad dreams and very over anxious. I’m having headaches and constipation. These dreams are the worst. Do these side effects get less powerful over time? ## Many people on Mirtazapine report a worsening of their symptoms of anxiety and depression in the early weeks of starting Mirtazapine (same as many other anti-depressants). It can take several weeks for the drug to begin working and then symptoms improve. Mirtazapine usually works faster than newer SSRI anti-depressants (many people report improvements between 2-5 weeks). However some people may need their dosage adjusting to get the full benefit. I slept soundly after 45mins of taking one , and the anxiety was far less. I was told they are a tablet that takes longer than others to get into the system proberly 8wksfor depression so to persivere with them.. I am not at all happy with the weight gain issue attacted to them , but was told if you eat healthy 3 times a day & resist the urges you may get , and eat fruit , you will not put on weight , as of yet I am O.k. but I do feel bloated ,and my tummy looks it.. Can you please let me know the effects of Mirtazipan which i have been prescribed for anxiety. I know of other friends who have taken it and they feel worse. I know of one person who said it helped. Does it take two weeks to get fully into the system and another two weeks to get out? I have also been told that it is prescribed for helping to get back into a good sleep pattern and should only be taken intermittently for about 3 days at a time and then a rest. Could you please advise. Many thanks. ## Mirtazapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant, to have its best effect in the body, it should be taken daily, just as prescribed by your doctor. It can take daily dosages for as long as 4 to 6 weeks, for it to reach its full effectiveness in your body and it can take just as long to cycle out, ...

i want all names, address for mirtazapin producer ## I cannot tell you the manufacturer unless you provide the imprint from the pill so I can look it up. Once a pill is available for generic manufacture, it is made by many, many companies, if you had a prescription the papers and bottle from the pharmacy should say who the manufacturer is, or as I said, you can provide the pill imprint so I can look it up for you, but without this information, I cannot help. There are thousands of companies that make generic drugs as well as name brands, so we couldn't even guess who manufactured the drug you are inquiring about. ## mirtazapin generic is manfuctured by sun pharma ## And that would be only 1 of the generic manufacturer's, there are many more. Which is why I said without knowing w...

Not every medication works for everyone that tries it. Have you experienced any of the side effects that the FDA lists, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth? Are you on any other medications?

Does Mirtazapine continue to cause drowsyness as long as it is taken, or does that (side) effect wear off in time? If so, how long does it take to wear off? ## Ive been on it for two years, you will def. feel drowsy when you wake up it will take at least and hour or two to wear off and It also seems to wear off once you keep yourself busy ## I have been on Mirtazapine for 9 months now - 15mg at night. I take it around 9:30 pm, but always feel groggy in the morning. True - if you just get up and get going, it will wear off fairly quickly. It has helped me sleep thru the night and gain back weight that I had lost. I feel bloated most of the time, even when I am at my normal weight. ## I've been on Mylan-Mirtazapine for the last year. small round yello pill ## Sorry, you have not provided enough information. This drug is available in both name brand and generic versions. There are many generic manufacturers and each one of them will make a pill that looks different. There are no rules saying that pills with the same ingredient have to look the same! The size, color, shape and imprint will all vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. The only relevant regulations from the FDA state that they must have unique imprints for identification purposes, but these will even differ by manufacturer and strength of the med. pill ## I want info on Mirtazatine ## I think the information being requested in these posts was most likely about Mirtazapine, which is an NaSSA antidepressant, that's also used to treat anxiety, as a hypnotic and to stimulate the appetite. It may cause side effects, such as weight gain due to stimulating the appetite, as well as drowsiness, dry mouth and blurred vision. Interestingly enough, there's a specific listing in the monograph that says it's also used to stimulate the appetite in anorexic cats...who knew? Are there any questions I can help with? Does this plll help panic attacks and does it act fast if am having a bad panic attack like a zanx ## Mirtazapine is actually an anti-depressant as opposed to an anti-anxiety like Xanax; however it is said to work by increasing certain types of activity in the brain to maintain mental balance. That to me, certainly sounds like it could have a positive impact on someone who might be experiencing a panic attack. The funny thing is, "anxiousness" and "confusion" are both listed as side effects of Mirtazapine. So I guess there's really no guarantee that it wont backfire Lol... I am a diabetic, and my Dr. prescribed mirtazapine for insomnia. I'm worried about high blood sugar and weight gain. I haven't had much luck with all the meds they've had me try, and I don't need any more issues to deal with, especially trying to get off of something that isn't working. Too scared to try it. ## Hi! I completely understand what you're talking about, I've been there myself. I have weird reactions and am very sensitive to most medications and sometimes it's a real roller coaster ride to find something that works, without making me completely miserable. And I was actually just responding to a post from someone else that is having a problem with insomnia and I'd like to ask you the same question I asked them: What tests have been done to d...

My physician placed me on a 15mg dose of Mirtazapine beginning with just a 'half' dose for the 1st week. I tried this dosage for 2 nights and ended up having 'heigthened' throbbing and 'restless-like' syndrome of my entire body-especially the right side. I have Fibromyalgia, Renauds' syndrome and have suffered from years of sleep problems. I have been on varying doses of Elavil over the last 12 yrs but this no longer helps. I do suffer from mild depression, mostly due to work stresses but I have been on a medical leave since July 11'05 post rotator cuff surgery. Tonight I will be trying Ambien- 5mg dose. The claim that Mirtazapine is used to treat 'tremors' is contradictory in my case-seemed like it was causing mild tremor-like throbbing with my l...

can I use mirtazapine for sleeping as the needs arises instead of a benzodiazepine. I do not want take mirtazapine every day but may be only once a week if I have a problem to fall asleep. ## I take it as and when needed, take 7.5 or even 3.75. Sometimes I can sleep unaided for 5 nights but then need to take it for a few nights, not too sure if it ok, some pharmacists say due to the small dose it is ok however some feel I should take it for a few weeks regular and then taper off it? I am not on any other mess and it is purely for getting off to sleep. ## Mirtazapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant and may only help with sleep, because it can cause drowsiness, as a side effect. Have either one of you consulted your doctors about using it in the manner you are?
