After two years on oxycodone 10mg 4x daily withdrawal between doses was getting unbearable so doc switched me to morphine ER 15mg 2x daily with oxycodone 5 mg for breakthrough pain. I just started today. I took the pill at about noon and now it is 7pm and I feel withdrawal symptoms. I want to know if it is common for morphine ER to not last a full 12 hours as advertised. ## Hello, Liz! How are you doing? I am sorry about how you feeling? Has there been any change? The issue here might be due to the fact that Morphine is not as strong as Oxycodone, each 15mgs of Morphine is equivalent to 10mgs of Oxycodone, Thus, your dosage has not actually be changed, or increased. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

I am currently taking 15 mg of morphine er twice daily and have been for 4 months now for chronic severe back pain. I have been noticing the last 2 weeks that it's not working as well. Is it safe to take 2 at once? ## Hello, Crystal! How are you? No, you shouldn't adjust your dosage, without your doctor's approval. That could be too much for you to take and may cause a dangerous overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best thing to do would be to contact your doctor, inform them of the problem and then see what they advise. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello~ I’ve been taking 5/325% for severe back pain due to an injury since 2012. I had surgery in 2014. I’m still experiencing severe pain and have been taking the Percocet since. Recently my doctor has prescribed MS Contin 15 mg. Although it did take the pain down a few notches, I became very dizzy and it felt like the world is spinning around me. I actually stumbled a few times which I felt was putting me at more risk. Then came the nausea and the feeling sick part. My question is, what are peoples experience as far as does the dizziness and nausea feeling go away after you’ve been taking it for a few days or longer? I realize that everybody and every body is different, but I would love to hear others’ experiences to help me decide whether I will continue takin...

I will try to make this as short as possible. I have been suffering with Chronic Pain to my right shoulder since 2005. I fell on black ice, dislocated the shoulder, broke the humerus head and cracked the bone in the socket. 3 surgeries later I'm still suffering with the pain. Since the injury I've been on Lortab 10/500. Started out with 4 per day, I'm at 7 per day and cannot go higher due to the Tylenol. My pain management doctor's PA switched me to 5 Lortab per day with 2-15mg Morphine Sulfate ER. I took the Morphine at 6:10pm, by 7pm, I broke out in a rash, have a migraine, can't stop sweating, my throat and ears itch, I've become short tempered. My surgeon wanted my pm doctor to switch me to Percocet and cut out the Lortab all together. I am 40, single mom, fu...

Recently the doctor prescribed morphine 15mg ER which was too strong and made me so incredibly sick. I've tried everything else on the marked, but those made me "deathly ill" as well. He then changed me to 15mg Morphine IR 4 times a day, and it usually always lasts about 4 hours until the burning pain in my back returns. Yesterday I only took one tab, and was fine all day, but this morning the burning pain is back with a vengence! Will I get better constant pain relief taking 4 a day whether I feel I need them or not? I simply just need a new spine, but that isn't possible of course and trying to figure out if morphine IR is cumulative in the body, and therefore I should take the 4 a day whether I feel I need it or not. Thanks! ## Yes, while they do have some immediate e...

i was just recently prescribed morphine sulf 15 mg sa end for a re-injury of a fractured disc in my neck. I've been on all types of pain medications over the last 2 years because i got a bone infection after having surgery on my broken leg. Anyways, this is my first time on this one, so if anyone has any info on it, i'd really appreciate it! ## i also want to know morphine tablet it's dosage and where can i buy this online and do i need a prescription for online purchase ## I took 100 mg of morphine sulfate a day for 7 years for chronic migraine headaches because I'm allergic to the popular non-narcotic migraine medicines. It really did help me stay on top of the pain and I was able to function quite well so that I didn't miss any work (as I would with a 2-day to a 2...

I've been prescribed an extended-release version of morphine sulfate and I've released I'm not sure how the extended release works. I take one 15 mg pill per day. I guess I thought the extended release meant that I would be getting the benefit of 15 mg of pain relief all day long, at an given moment. But does the ER version simply take that 15 mg and divide it up over the space of 24 hours? 15 divided by 24...that would mean at any given hour, I'd only have 0.62 (less than a milligram) in my system, which is substantially less than 15 mg of relief in any given hour. Can anyone clarify this for me? ## Hello, Groa! How are you? Yes, the tablet contains 15mgs total of Morphine that is slowly released over time. However, generally, the constant release of even small amounts ...

I just want to know if it's time released or not? ## I'm sorry, but I can't really provide you with any information on just the color. Are there any markings on the pill? That is what would enable me to check for you. ## Taking this blue 15mg morphine pill doesn't seem to last. Does the color or lettering make a difference in how strong they are?

I'm a severe chronic back pain sufferer & this is my first time taking abg 15mg morphine. I've been on fentanyl, oxycodone, etc. Is this pill effective & how long does it last & how rapidly does it take effect. ## This is a time released tablet, so it lasts about 12 hours and will start to take affect about 15 to 20 minutes after taking it. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a spinal stimulate with two leads in my back for damaged nerves, mostly on the left side. During back surgery the left side lead was cut, which not only cause more pain for the recovery but was not discovered for 2 weeks. Because of Christmas nothing can be done until Jan.19,2017. Tylenol 4 does ok but it does not last very long, certainly not one every 8 hours. The doctor wants to switch me to morphine 15mg every 8 hours. I do not want to hurt from now until surgery, but I do to want to have a difficult time getting off meds after surgery. I am ready to be well, happy and back to my normal life. Could you detail the differences between the two drugs and the after effects that will have to be over come after surgery in Jan. ## Rose, Happy New Years to you. It's very admirable...

My Dr prescribes 20mg oxycodone on a monthly basis for my chronic pain. I've been having to take a UA every month when I go to see him. Is this normal practice? I don't abuse the pills. He will only prescribe 75 20 b mgs per month. This is not enough to control my pain but it at least lessens it. Should I find a different dr? I've been a patient there for 5 years. Thx. ## Most doctors will require UA's, now, when a patient is on a controlled substance. They want to make sure that you're taking it, as prescribed and not selling them. They also want to make sure that you aren't taking anything that hasn't been prescribed. Additionally, there are limits on how much they can prescribe, these were put in place by the DEA last year and that also applies to all doct...

I was taking 30mg oxycodone and the doctor switched to 15 mg Morphine ER and 15mg oxycodone and the pain is the worst it's been in the last 8 months. Am i going crazy or is it possible that the morphine does nothing for me. And if so I can't see the doctor for another 7 days ## 15mg er morphine is the least amount available in the er class of pain meds, er stands for extended release, this means that basically you are receiving 15 mg per 6 hrs, over a 12 hr period. and obviously you receive half of the dose you were getting with oxycodone. long story short, you Dr.isn't doing you any favors, only reducing your pain meds and increasing your pain!, 15 mg er morph doesn't do much at all! ## Morphine when taken by mouth is super weak. I am suprised you didnt have some feelin...

How many hrs time release is 100mg morphine abg? ## These are designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours, though in some cases of severe pain, a doctor may prescribe them to be taken as soon as every 8 hours to try to give someone better pain control. I was prescribed a 30mg morphine gell tablet yesterday he said to take one last night at 8 o'clock, and the next one this morning at 8 o'clock and so on for a week then go back to him. After taking this morning one I went shopping and on return at 12.30 I had a cup of tea and within 15 minutes vomited tremendously, so I ate nothing and just drunk water. Then at around 3.30 I vomited again quite a lot, in all I have vomited 4 times and the last lost was green. Should I take the next tablet due at 8 p.m. this evening. Would appreciate quick help if possible. ## Hello, Millie! How are you? That can be a normal side effect of this medication, as reported by the U.S. FDA. It also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, head...

I just went to a new pain dr. For 8 years I was on OxyContin 30mg. My insurance wouldn't pay so I was switched to 30 mg ms continue er. This worked fine. All with 5/325 Hydrocodone up to 4 daily for breakthrough. Within the last four months the old Doctor switched to 30mg IRR without telling me why the change. I think just mixed up. Actually it worked basically the same with the breakthrough meds. Now new doc changed to MS Contin er generic with same amount of breakthrough melds. I haven't started yet but am worried it won't work as well. Help ## Since it is a lower dose, it may not manage your pain as well and you may also experience some withdrawal symptoms. As listed by the FDA, withdrawal symptoms may possibly include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills and diarrhea. Is the...

I have been taking 4 or 5 of the 15mg ir morphine pills per day for several months. I was having a lot of pain today, so I took another dose of 15mg ir pills about an hour ago. How long before I will have some relief and how long will it last? ## I just read your post...did not see any replies, so here goes. First of all, you need to stay on top of your pain. Do NOT try to wait until it gets really severe for if you do, you will 'never' get it under control. 'Never being relative to how much you can stand, and when the edge is off enough for you to 'have a life'', so to speak. Take your meds on the first sign of break through pains, or spikes. Now, to answer the question you actually asked- normally, it takes between 20 to 45 minutes for pain medicines by mouth t...

So I'm 30 years old. I have been taking various pain medications in very large doses for 15 years. I once ate 42 10/set hydro in one day. I was not worried about overdose on hydro, just acetaminophen. So I have a brain full of opiate receptors. From what I have read the longer and larger your tolerance well what happens is your brain builds more opiate receptors. So this is how high my tolerance is. I can take 36mg of Suboxone and the next morning at about noon take a couple hundred mg of morphine and feel full effects. So even though buprenorphine is so many times different in potency to morphine, the fact that it does not activate receptors but partially must play a major role in how Suboxone works with super highly tolerant patients. I believe my receptors saturation level may be...

My mom has chronic pain due to her low back. Has been on Morphine 15 mg SR for at least 15 years also Percocet 5mg for break thru pain. Last appt. with MD we explained that 15 mg was not covering her pain. I asked to bump her up to 20 mg (I am an RN) but was told that is not how it goes and was given a RX for Morphine 30 mg q 12 hours. She was on q 12 hours prior. Mom is sleeping 90 percent of the time. Has no real need for Percs anymore. Wondering if this sleeping all the time after getting adjusted to dose soon. Thank You for helping me. She is questioning if it is wort it since she has NO quality of life anymore because she is sleeping so much. Thank You for you insight. ## Morphine is actually notorious for causing excessive drowsiness in some people that take it, there are quite a ...
