I was taking 300 mg neurontin. 1 in am, 1 at noon and 2 at bedtime. I was prescribed the med in May of 2013. Increased later when not helping with foot numbness. It has been almost 2 weeks since i tapered myself off of the drug and i still feel nausea in the am which affects my eating. Please advise how long it will take this med to be out of my system? Thank you. ## Hi Cindy, Sorry to hear about the nausea you've been experiencing lately. From what I've been researching, in most cases it usually ends up being around 2 to 5 days for this type of medication to clear your system. However because you've been taking it for about a year, I'd imagine your body could still probably use some time to get accustomed to not having it on a regular basis. One study I found mentioned ...

I have bipolar. I've been taking gabapentin for 2 years now. I just changed pharmacys & getting a different manufacture of the gabapentin. I have been crying about an hour after I take it & get nausous. I have never had this problem before. Do u think it could be the way its manufactured? ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? There can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to the next, or when going from the name brand to a generic, so that might be what's causing your problems. It sounds like the new ones might be a little stronger than the one you were taking, before. Both the nausea and the mood swings can be normal side effects of this medication and would be expected with a dosage adjustment. You may also experience dry mouth, dizzin...

I have been prescribed Neurontin and would like to know how long does it take to come out of your system? It is causing too many problems for me. Can you stop suddenly or do you have to ween your self from them?? ## Hi, Sweet Pea! Sorry about the problems that it's causing you. What types of symptoms have you been experiencing? How long have you been taking it? If you've been on it for awhile, at a high dose, suddenly stopping it could cause a risk of seizures, since it's an anticonvulsant. It is generally best to taper off of these types of medications. Have you discussed it with your doctor? ## I'm not on gabapentin anymore. I took one 300 mg 3 months ago that my Dr told me to take for my nerve pain and m.s. But I took a drug panel on July 15th. And today is August 1st...

What Happens If I Take 200 Mg Of Gabapentin i need to know i already took it before i knew what milligrams it was i am worried what will happen what mental effects will it have on me???? ## Hi Alicia, Were you prescribed this medication or was it someone else's? I personally don't think you should have anything to worry about as far as side effects go if you only took this one dose. Gabapentin has a half life of 5 to 7 hours. So, for example, if you took 200 mg of gabapentin Monday at 4 PM, 100 mg would still be in your system at approx. 9 to 11 PM. Generally, it can take anywhere from 5-7 half-lifes before the drug is completely out of your system (but you should stop feeling its effects before then). Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and is cur...

My doctor told me if you're on suboxene or subutex it's not a good idea to mix it with gabapentin. Why is this because I was taking gabapentin for 15 years ## Hello, Tessa! How are you? It is due to the depression of the central nervous system that can occur, when they are taken together, according to the FDA, it could result in respiratory distress, coma, respiratory failure, heart failure and possibly death. Erectile dysfunction is not listed as a side effect but has anyone noted an effect in this area? ## Yes I have, I take Viagra when we get at it now. I take 2700 mg of Gabapentin a day for Multiple Sclerosis. It might also be caused by the MS alone. I find Viagra to be hard on the system not just the sausage. ## Actually the FDA does list impotence as being a possible side effect of Gabapentin, along with nausea, mood changes, weight changes, anemia, and back pain. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? If this is a severe problem for you, you might need to speak to your doctor to discuss trying a different medication, as this might not be the right one for you to take.

I just took my second dose of gabapentin 100 mgs this morning. I was also prescribed hydrocodone 10/325. Is it safe for me to take the hydrocodone if it has been eight hours ago since I took the gabapentin? I know it takes a long time for gabapentin to get out of your system and I can't be too safe when mixing medications. Thanks in advance to any help I get. ## It should be okay to take them together, if they have both been prescribed for you. as soon as I got off double doses of gabapentin(300x6), I got nausea every day for weeks. I have acis reflux, so we thought it was that; could this be a reaction to total withdrawal? ## Yes, if you did a sudden withdrawal, rather than tapering the dose, or even if you tapered, but stopped at a dose that was a bit too high for what your body could handle, it's possible that it could have caused it. Learn more Gabapentin details here. Have things improved yet? With the acid reflux, it's quite easy for your gastric system to be upset and set off balance, so it could even have been a combination of both factors.

I took a Robaxin, Gabapentin and an Oxycodone together and I just wanted to know if that was safe? ## According to FDA warnings, taking all 3 of them together could cause increased depression of the central nervous system, which could result in increased insomnia, dizziness, and drowsiness. Taking too much could result in coma, and possible death. How are you feeling? Did you experience any problems?

I'm wondering if it is safe to take 60mg morphine sulfate .er with 900 mg gabapentin, 3mg melatonin , and 50 mg vistril together. does anyone know if the morphine will react badly with the others? I am trying to find out if gabapentin is ok to be in the system (body) of a truck driver. Legal presciption from a doctor. ## Can a truck driver pass a DOT physical if he takes gabapentin? ## Hello, Jeanie! How are you? I'm sorry, but from what I've found the answer is no. There is an automatic disqualification for anyone taking any type of antiseizure medication. My Australian Shepherd takes this for seizure disorder. He has been prescribed 1 capsule 3 times per day. Because of my work schedule, it's very difficult to dispense 3 times. I know that is optimal, but can I give him one in the morning and 2 at night? ## Unfortunately, no. That's not going to work the same way. The reason it's given spaced over the day is to try to keep a constant level of the medication in his system to prevent the seizures. Do you have a friend or neighbor that may be able to help? ## Hi I was wondering if it works well? if you have had seizuries and taking dylatin can you take gabapentin for chronic pain ## Caution is advised regarding using the Gabapentin with the Phenytoin in Dilantin, because it can increase the level of central nervous system depression and psychomotor impairment that they both can cause. Has your doctor instructed you to use them both? If so, they should be monitoring you closely and they have to take the dosage of both under careful consideration.

So, I after discussing w my doctor; I am taking gabapentin during my menstrual cycle as this makes my disability worse. But right after my cycle I got pms bad. Pain and vomiting. Are the effects cumulative or do they dissipate after a while, I’m taking two 300mg pills a day. one moRniNG, one night? They were assigne for spinal stenoius and a hurneated disc and a slipped disc.they work some of the time, particularly in the morning and evening.i often skip them during the day when I am more physical and the pain lessens. So should I keep taking them regularly or only when I have pain. ## They work best when taken regularly, so the medication remains in your system at a constant level. They are not cumulative, our bodies eventually process everything out. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes. I take 4 mgs of suboxone everyday and it's been like 5 hours since I took my suboxone. Is it ok to take a gabapentin? ## The FDA recommends that they usually not be taken together, since they can both cause depression of the central nervous system, which could lead to severe health consequences and has been known to cause death, in some case. Have they both been prescribed for you? Are you on any other medications? ## Yes, Neurontin 10 yrs, Suboxone 4 months and not one problem. There's more to the story. She complaines about everything I do and take and refused to give them to me, yet another Walgreens did. She hates me. And now has cost me 60$ more than I usually paid.
