I have been taking three 4mg hydromorphone pills per day, for the past several months for chronic neck, back and leg pain. During two recent urine tests, the hrdromorphone was detected...but at a calculation smaller than what the doctor expected. My last urine test showed that NO hydromorphone was detected in my urine...even though I continued to take the pills as prescribed. What might cause these false readings. I take a regimen of other medications for other medical challenges, I also suffer from IBS and go to the restroom frequently each day and I am on a direuratic which causes me to urinate many times each day. I went to my pain doctor today, and received a drug screen. I only take diluadid 2mg 2ce a day and took one about an hour and a half before I went to the doctor. When I went back into the room with the nurse practioner she said I failed my drug screen for Morphine and Codine. I've not taken anything but dilaudid and also neuroton that they prescribe me. I've been on oxycodone 15mg and oxycodone 40mg long acting for over ten years. Percocet contains the active ingredient oxycodone and dillaudid is hydromorphone. Percocet and dillaudid will not show up as the same thing and you could get in hot water with your doc. I take Norco 7.5/325mg and Morphine Sulfate 15mg E tab. When my pain management doctor has given me a urine drug test, it has shown up as Hydromorphone/Dilaudid. Is it possible when the two are taken at the same time it might show up as Hydromorphone/Dilaudid in the urine drug test since the two are mixed together? ## It is actually probably due to the test itself. The cheaper, non-certified tests that most doctors use are known to give false positives anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time. I take hydromorphone 4 mg tabs, my question is if I crush them and inject them will it show something different on a drug screen? ## You will test positive for hydromorphone on a urine drug screen, conditional on the fact that hydromorphone is the only substance you have taken (i.e If you smoked marijuana you will obviously test positive for that as well). This is due to the substance on the drug panel that you are ingesting, no matter what route of administration you take, it is still chemically hydromorphone. Hope this helps!

If it is a GC/MS lab test it is doubtful morphine would show up as Opana which is oxymorphone. IF it is a urine dip test like you buy at the store Opana might show up on a morphine test if the levels of opana are very very high. ## I don't think it has anything to do with the test. One will show up in the morphine category and the other in what they call morphine under. So if they are a pain clinic they normally separate the substances in their urine screening. As regular drug tests 5, 7, panel (different tests), only show opiates. But you can buy drug tests at the pharmacy and even some of these separate substances.
