I have osteoarthritis in my spine, knees and hips and have recently developed severe pain in both arms, extending to the fingers on my right hand, worse on getting out of bed in the morning. I was taking Panadol Osteo two three times a day which didn't really help much so my doctor prescribed Mobic. It helps a lot but not completely so am wondering if I should keep taking Panadol Osteo as well as Mobic? Also, is it necessary to have a few days break from Mobic every so often? I take Sotalol for AF, Perindopril for blood pressure, Apixaban as a blood thinner and Carbimazole for hyperthyroidism. I have asked my doctor and pharmacist these questions but am still confused as to what I should safely do even though I have read all the information available. ## Hello, Janice! How are you? ...

When are you having the tooth fixed? ## I just started taking meloxicam 15mg daily (supposed to be for a month for plantar fasciatis on both heels). Is there anything I can do to help clear this medication out of my system? ## Hello Nana, Unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do to metabolize the meloxicam any quicker without taking a different type of drug. What would happen if you took two or three meloxicams? It sounds as if it would be okay if they work like advil? ## No, it wouldn't be okay. They are much stronger than Advil and even when it comes to Advil, there's a limited number of those that you can safely take at one time. Both Advil and Meloxicam are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories and though they may seem harmless, since some are available over the counter, they aren't. There are some pretty big possible risks associated with taking them, such as internal bleeding, stomach ulceration and liver damage or failure. Learn more Meloxicam details here. And just like any other drug, an overdose could be fatal, so please do not exceed the recommended use amounts or the prescribed dosage. Is there anything else I can help wi...

I. Need to slowly get off tramadol can I take meloxicam where I won't have withdrawals ## Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it will not prevent opiate withdrawals. meloxicam is taken instead of advil. it is used like advil or tylenol or alieve. it should work the day you take it. it should not take days or weeks fr you to notice a difference in pain levels. i take it daily along with my other pain medications,, and if i forget it the narcotic meds do not even work as well. they are both necessary ## Hello, Allison! How are you? Thank you for your post. You are correct, traditional analgesics, including NSAIDs, such as Meloxicam do work as soon as you take them, they don't require a certain period of time to reach their full efficacy level, which is why they are often prescribed to be taken as needed. And the reason narcotics don't seem to work as well without it, is because NSAIDs and Acetaminophen potentiate the action of narcotics, so it...

I'm taking Nucynta 100mg 4 x a day with IB profen 800mg 3 x a day for back pain but am currently out of Nucynta so I have been taking Tylenol/Codeine # 3 and # 4 with my IB Profen and a few 7.5 Meloxicam. I should be getting my refill today but I take the other meds to keep from going into withdrawels, been there several times getting off Oxy, and several other opiates and it is nothing nice. Are these safe to mix? ## You should not be mixing the Ibuprofen and the Meloxicam, the FDA classifies these both as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so you are essentially doubling up on the same medication, which increases your risk of bleeding, stomach irritation, and possible ulceration. How are you doing? There is also a risk of liver damage from combining those two medications, according...

I stopped taking my daily 80mg of aspirin and multivitamins two weeks ago when I was prescribed meloxicam because I was afraid and was not sure if it's safe. So much confusing information. ## What information did you find that confused you? Can you please be more specific? Generally, you can take Meloxicam with a multivitamin, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. But the FDA does warn that Meloxicam may cause side effects, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation, and increased risk of bleeding. But, it could also depend on what specifically is in the multivitamins. Can you provide more details? Is it just vitamin D, or a multi? Your post is somewhat unclear. The main concern would be taking it with the Aspirin, since they are in the same medication class, and it can be risky to d...

Can I take a Tylenol-3 (with codeine)? ## I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it is always best to double check. Have they all been prescribed for you? I've taken 15mg of meloxicam for years for joint pain. I can tell a big difference when I have to stop taking it for medical procedures. Is there a risk in use for years and is it addictive? My doctors office called today to reduce to 7.5mg daily. ## Hello, PB! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so no, it's not addictive in the same sense that an opiate can be, but your body does get used to anything you take on a regular basis for a long period of time and suddenly stopping it will be noticeable and may result in some minor withdrawal effects, such as aches, pain, headaches and diarrhea. As to risks with long-term use, yes, there are some, such as stomach ulceration and liver damage, or failure. Is there anything else I can help...
