Last night, my son had a nose bleed. After I got the bleeding to stop by pinching his nose for about 8 to 10 minutes his sinuses then drained. He's been on Histatussin for three days now. Is this normal? My son is 7 yrs old and he also has a sinus condition. My local pharmacist recommended this medicine, Histatussin. Is this good for sinus for a child of his age? My son also is slightly anemic but also has nose bleeds whenever he takes medication for low blood. At times I'm confused as to what to give him because in my mind a person can't have low blood then when given medication for it develops what seems to be high blood or something closely related to high blood. From what I can find, Histatussin isn't available in the U.S. It contains Chlorpheniramine and Ephedrine, the latter of which can be very dangerous, so such formulations have been banned here. Where can you purchase histatussin liquid ## There's actually another thread here on Histatussin and I believe you can only obtain it overseas in Barbados, Caribbean: /Discuss/histatussin-liquid-183297.htm Post #4 in the thread linked above, lists the active ingredients of Histatussin. You may be able to find certain combinations of these ingredients here in the US. I hope this info helps!

I suffer with high blood pressure and right now I have a bad cough and cold. Is it safe to take the cough medication Histatussin? ## Hello, Jim! How are you? If this formulation of Histatussin still contains Ephedrine, then no, it is not safe to take if you have high blood pressure. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to advise you in regards to something that would be safe for you to use.
