Hi all, I've been taking Xarelto for 6 weeks for a DVT in my calf (i'm in plaster with a broken ankle). I noticed some numbness and a strange tingling sensation in my pinky finger/ring finger in both hands. Since my dose was changed from 30 mg (15 mg x 2 daily) to 20 mg all of the joints in my fingers have become stiff and sore. The skin over the joints also feel a bit itchy??!! Has anyone else experienced symptoms like this? I'm just a bit worried as I have a family history of rheumatoid arthritis. I feel like i'm falling to bits at the seams at the moment, especially for a generally fit and healthy 31 year old female! ## I have a broken ankle.- did it 3 wks ago. 1 week later after continuous calf cramps got a blood clot. I am taking xarelto twice daily. Only my 4 th pi...

Over the past 6 months I have developed acute pain and numbness/tingling, as well as loss of strength, in both hands. I've been to 3 doctors and a specialist and they can't work out what's happening. Have tried strong painkillers like Tramadol but no relief. I'm now taking medicinal cannabis 100 (.5 mil per day), and although it has helped slightly, the pain is still chronic. Has anyone else out there had similar problems and, if so, what treatment have you had? ## Have your doctors done any imaging studies to check your spine, and joints? In many cases nerve pain like this is due to some issue with nerve damage, a slipped disc putting pressure on certain nerves, or etc. Have you ever been checked for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? Can taking triamterene twice a day to prevent bloating cause severely painful cramping in the hands and feet? ## Hello, Eva! How are you doing? Has anything changed? In many cases, cramping in those body areas is a sign of dehydration, according to the NIH. Since this medication removes fluid from the body, it could be that you're not taking in enough to keep your fluid balance. How much liquid do you take in each day? Are you on any other medications? What dosage do you take of the Triamterene?

I am a 36 yr old woman that has suspected that I have RA for over 15 yrs. I finally went to see a rheumatologist last year in November. She ordered x rays for my hands, feet, and jaw/upper spine. Found out that the top 4-5 vertebrae in my neck are fused together, which now explains the severe lack of mobility and severe pain I've had in my neck for 15+ yrs. I am in recovery (clean and sober for 3 yrs last september) so opioid/narcotic pain management is not an option for me. I've taken Flexeril in the past and found it very helpful at the end of a long, hard day. So I brought this up with my Rheumatologist and she wrote a prescription for 45/10mg flexeril with one refill. I recently ran out of refills so I had my pharmacy contact my Rheumatologists office. After 2 days with no r...

Hi Dr. I'm 49 years of age and I have cronic Osteoarthritis on both knees, both wrists and hands, lower back and left shoulder. I've been taking meds for 10 years (give or take). I used to live in San Diego and after trying all kinds of medication the Dr. ended giving me morphine ER 30mg and Norco 10/325. I was taking 3 to 4 morphines daily and 6 to 8 Norcos daily. With time he pump me up to 60mg instead of 30mg of the morphine. Since I couldn't work anymore, I lost everything and had to move to L.A. county where I have relatives. I got a Dr. there but he said I was taking too much medication so he took away the Norcos and gave me the morphine but 30mg and only 3 daily. After a couple of months I told him that they weren't working too well so he gave me 60mg 3 daily. Aft...

I am 69 years old; a double amputee (BK) I was born with CMT and have had heart-related surgery seven times. I am in chronic pain and live 42 miles from my doctor. I am suppose to be "shelter in place" as I am a high risk patient. Yet, I must drive to the doctor's office every time I need to fill my prescription because a "hard copy" is required by my pharmacy. Are there any other options. ## Those who need to shelter in place are still allowed to leave the house to go to their doctor's appointments, if needed, as well as their pharmacy, grocery store, and etc. You just need to be extra careful about keeping your distance from other people, wash your hands regularly, and avoid touching your face. However, you should consult your doctor, as they may have a plan in...

My husband has been on metanx for 4-5yrs,it has helped with neuropathy in feet, has any one experienced severe pain and swelling in hands as a possible side effect of too much B-6,long term use of mentanx ? ## Hi Karen, Does your husband work on the computer frequently? This is a common cause for pain and swelling in the hands, so I thought I'd ask. Interestingly enough though, I just checked the side effects of Metanx and common side effects include: Drowsiness; feeling of swelling of the entire body; mild diarrhea; numbness or tingling. That said, it could in-fact be that Metanx is causing those complications. Has he sought out any treatment options or decreased his use of the medication?

My daughter has abdomen TB and is now taking Akt4 from 1 month. She complains of pain in the back, stomach and legs. R these due to the tablets? How can I reduce her pain? Kindly advice! ## AKT-4 kit is an anti-tuberculosis drug containing the following ingredients: ethambutol + isoniazid + pyrazinamide + rifampicin. Based on my research, it sounds to me like every single active ingredient could be causing the type of pain she's describing... - Ethambutol lists stomach pain as a side effect - Isoniazid lists stomach pain or tenderness as a serious side effect - Pyrazinamide lists upset stomach as a side effect - Rifampicin lists stomach cramps; muscle weakness; pain in the arms, hands, feet, or legs; and joint pain or swelling as a serios side effect. With that said, your best bet w...

I was involved in (MVA) Motor Vehicle Accident the year 2012. I was a passenger seated behind the passenger's seat. A big vehicle hit on ours from the left hand side where I was seated. Our vehicle rolled, the wheels were facing up - roof on the ground. I got out of the vehicle last as after people were calling my name for several times to get out of the vehicle. They were scared and thinking that the vehicle might get burned. I knew that I was in MVA and I must get out quickly but I didn't. Eventually I got out of the vehicle/car and pains were hitting very hard on my chest and back of the head. One hand was on my chest, the other hand was at the back of my pressing very hard. I tried to remove both of my hands because I was tired and I felt like the force was pulling me down/ I w

My Dr. gave me Nucynta 50 mg yesterday. If I run out of my Hyromorphone Hcl 18mg, can I take the new drug Nucynta 50mg for withdrawals from Hyromorphone Hcl? If anyone has had hands on experience with this, or know's of someone that has? Any help would be well appreciated! I ended up taking the NUCYNTA this morning due to acute pain brought on by a car accident 4 weeks ago. ## I have been taking this medication for a month now. Dose is 4x a day and I am very pleased , the pain relief as been relieved immensely , Vicodin was not doing much other than making me a couch potato . Down side is you can't miss a dosage or pain returns quickly, lower back and legs in my case. Overall for me it is a 10 enabling me a much more active lifestyle.

I have been using Efudex on my fore arms and the back of my hands for two weeks. Three weeks will be the total time of application. I put the cream on at night and try to sleep. I leave it on overnight and wash it off carefully about noon the next day. How soon after application can I use soap and water on the treated areas? Does it help to wash the Efudex off after an hour? I have been leaving it on for hours. When sleeping should i wear cotton gloves and a long sleeved t shirt? I have done that and now have stopped but I am concerned about accidently getting the cream in my eyes during the night. Thanks for any help with these questions. When I lower my arms, I have a lot of pain, especially when I lower them quickly. Is this normal?

I have been on Tamoxifen for almost five years and have had many of the side effects - horrendous hot flashes, joint pain, leg cramps. About 6 weeks ago I started noticing my hands and feet were going numb and tingling and they are sore and hurt. I have had blood tests for Lymes, B12 deficiency, A1C and CBC, etc. - all negative. I had an MRI on my shoulder blade as I. Had such a pain/knot, thinking pinched nerve ~ negative, MRI on my neck, awaiting results. Went to chiropractor and confirmed not pinched nerve. I am wondering if anyone on Tamoxifen has had this side effect? Luckily, I have 25 more days on this med and I am finished my treatment. Waiting to feel better and certainly will not miss the hot flashes. hope to hear from someone. Thanks! ## Hello, Mallory! How are you? Those sym...

I am on 2 different meds (soma and Percocet) plus Xanax for extreme panic attacks. The soma is because I have at least two disintegrating discs and bad arthritis in my lower back. the Percocet (which I never even asked for, they just gave it to me) because I have bad arthritis in my knees, my hips my hands and my neck. I asked if there were any over the counter meds to help but because my kidneys are in bad shape I couldn't take anything like advil, ibuprofen or steroids. Also my nephrologisy has said that I need to keep my blood pressure down and when i'm in pain or having a panic attack (which happens several times a day) my BP goes up. now I have to practically beg for these meds and am treated like a drug addict UA's and all which is a pain because my husband has to take...

I'm having joint pain in my hands and toes while on Mounjaro. It started 3 days after the first 2.5mg injection. The skin feels tender in these areas as well. Is anyone having this issue? ## The medication guide for MOUNJARO does not specifically mention joint pain in the hands and toes as a known side effect. However, it's important to note that individual responses to medications can vary, and some side effects may not be listed or fully understood. Joint pain may be associated with type 2 diabetes. While joint pain is not a direct symptom of diabetes itself, it can occur as a result of various factors related to the condition. Here are a few potential reasons why joint pain may be experienced by individuals with type 2 diabetes: 1. Inflammation: Diabetes can contribute to sys...
