I have been changed to the generic and hate it. The dark green is full strength 1.25 mg and the light green is HS or half strength .0625. Hope this helps. ## I have the break down: "ESTRATEST® Tablets: Each dark green, capsule shaped, sugar-coated oral tablet contains: 1.25 mg of Esterified Estrogens, USP and 2.5 mg of Methyltestosterone, USP. side effects. posibility of dizziness, nausea and fainting? ## I've not heard of it causing fainting, but yes, it does regularly cause nausea, dizziness and headache. All medications can have different effects on different people. You may be on the wrong medication for you or on too high of a dosage. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? ## I was on Estratest HS .0625 mg since 1987 after a complete hystrectomy. The pharmacy took me off and has given me Estrogenmtest HS. Is this the same? I know have tender breast which I didn't have on the Estratest. At the time my doctor told me not to take a generic. I just had my script refilled and my estrogen tabs are now green with 149 and what looks lije an upside down u. These are not the same pills I have taken in the past. I am wondering why. Plys they are sweet like sugar when I put them in my mouth. Strange. ## Hello, Patty! How are you? I'm sorry about the confusion, but I will gladly clear this up for you. This is a generic medication and once a drug is available as a generic it is usually manufactured by several different companies, this creates some market competition to help keep prices down. Each manufacturer must use different markings on their tablets to enable them to be identified and traced back to them, in case of an emergency. Which one your pharmacy carries, at any given time, may change depending on which was available a...

I was on HRT implants for about a year. Had nothing but good results with it, felt great, no weight gain, good drive, lots of energy. The draw back is the cost so my doctor suggested Estratest (generic) I started taking it about two weeks ago, mainly for libido and mental clarity. It makes me dizzy. Even when taking it at night I'm dizzy during the day. I feel the dosage is too low and might need to be increased but with the dizziness only one tablet is causing, I am afraid. Do the symptoms resolve after taking it for some time? ## In theory, they should go away, after your body gets used to it, but with hormones that can take about 3 months. Are you sure that's whats causing the dizziness? What are your blood pressure levels? Have you been dehydrated, at all?

Could this mean it may no longer be produced? I had a complete hysterectomy in 2000 and nothing else has worked for me! HELP! ## Hi Msgirl, May I ask where you found information stating that Estratest Generic is on an indefinite backorder? I couldn't personally find any information claiming that it's no longer unavailable. However, I did find out that there was a shortage of Estratest's active ingredients: "Esterified Estrogens" and "Methyl testosterone" - but according to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, that issue was resolved in 2011. Source: ashp.org/DrugShortages/ResolvedShortages/Bulletin.aspx?id=552 Please let me know if you come across any more information. Thanks! ## Just today, my WalMart Pharmacist could only fill 7 pills. Then my...

is there a generic brand or less expensive brand of Tri est? ## It looks like TriEst is a combination of 3 different Estrogen hormones and has to obtained from a compounding pharmacy, because they have to create it for you, as it is not manufactured in that form, by any company. Thus, no, there is no cheaper alternative. However, you could ask your doctor why you need this HRT and if you could possibly use a different one. Have you spoken to them about the issue, yet?

generic for tamoxifen but looks different than previous prescription ## Given the description provided, I located the pill to be Tamoxifen citrate (10 mg). It is manufactured by Roxane Laboratories Inc. Tamoxifen is an antagonist of the estrogen receptor in breast tissue. Some breast cancer cells require estrogen to grow. Estrogen binds to and activates the estrogen receptor in these cells. Tamoxifen is metabolized into compounds that also bind to the estrogen receptor but do not activate it. Because of this competitive antagonism, tamoxifen acts like a key broken off in the lock that prevents any other key from being inserted, preventing estrogen from binding to its receptor. Hence breast cancer cell growth is blocked. For more information about this drug, please refer to the link belo...

I have taken Estratest or generics of same dosage/combination for years after my total hysterectomy with very good results. I work on a cruise ship and am rarely in the US. With the new FDA decision to treat it as a "controlled substance" due to the testosterone and the new prescribing regulations, I am having a VERY difficult time getting my medication and have been having to take other estrogens without testosterone in between my visits to the US. Does anybody know if there is a combination med equivalent to Estratest in other countries? I have been unable to find it in the few I've checked. ## I have never herd of this intil today! Estratest sounds like heaven at this point! Is it by RX only? Do b you need blood work and all the other expensive tests? ## It is by prescrip...

Do not put up with this unnecessary interference. Estatest, and most of the generics, are on the DEA exempt list. Go to this link, print it off, and take it to your pharmacist. Send a copy to your insurance. Quit putting up with this garbage. This medication would not be likely to be diverted for use as an anabolic steroid, because bodybuilders would not want the estrogen. And it appears that the FDA is not as stupid about this as they are about a lot of other things. A bright spot on the horizon... ## I am not sure what a DEA exempt list is, Please explain. I am paying $200 for 90 day supply. I will do what I have to do to get insurance to approve

Hello, I just started using Divigel. I just got laid off and no longer have health insurance and considering not taking it anymore. Is there a cheaper version of this plant-based estrogen? Also, I read on this site that it's recommended to taper off. Any suggestions? ## There are over the counter plant based forms, but I am not sure how effective they are, since I've personally only tried the Progesterone, but I did have good results from it. There are generic Estrogens available, but what they are derived from may vary, so you'd have to check with your pharmacist, and/or doctor. The reason for tapering is due to the possible withdrawal effects, which can include depression, weight changes, and mood changes. How much does it currently cost in your area?

I had to have a complete hysterectomy at the age if 19 due to cancer. I was put on estrogen 2mg. I was on it for years and then they found a mass in both breast so I had to have surgery and have them removed. It wwasn't cancer. They rrefused to put me back on hormone replacement so for five years things just kept getting worse. I went to a new ob/gyn and he prescribed me the estrogen/methyl 1.25/2.5. The first bottle i got was name brand and had no issues. Now I had to switch to mail order pharmacy because if my insurance or pay 100% of the cost if I chose to go to a different place so I had to switch. They sent me a 90 day supply of the generic and now i have this awful rash on my chest. I have not switched any bath soap, laundry detergent or anything else. This has been the only c...

What is a round white pill with a capital M on one side and 34 on the other?? My pharmacy accidentally put one of these in with my Ambien pills. I'm lucky I even noticed it b/c it is the same size and shape as my generic Ambien! ## It's a good thing you noticed this pill in there, since it has no relation to Ambien whatsoever. The round white pill marked M 34 contains 1mg of Anastrozole. Anastrozole is used to treat breast cancer after surgery and for metastases in both pre and post-menopausal women. Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor, which means that it interrupts a critical step in the body's synthesis of estrogen. Some breast cancer cells require estrogen to grow, and eliminating estrogen suppresses their growth. You can view more info about this medication by followi...

What is it? ## found drug in bathroom at work what is it for ## Raloxifen - 60mg, usually used to treat breast cancer, it blocks the effects of estrogen on breast tissue and/or other tissues with estrogen receptors. Belongs to a group of drugs called SERMs; Select Estrogen Receptor Modulators. Have been on Estratest HS or equivalent (IP 77) for about 6 or more years. I have no intentions of giving it up any time soon. I am a Nurse Practitioner and have to use my brain for work - as many people do. I could not deal with the hot flashes, poor sleep, lack of concentration and the mood swings of menopause. This med keeps everything pretty level. And, yes, the libido did improve, a nice plus. Did not notice much change when the brand name was discontinued. I may have had a generic all along and not known it. Now I have to deal with the new regulations -- really, does the government agency (ie: stupid bureaucrats) really think that a man would take a dose of Estrogen just to get the little bit of testosterone that is in this tablet? Can this be reversed? Please?

Hi, I just picked up my prescription for this today as it's the Walmart generic for Estratest HS....not sure how this will work. I'd always used the name brand in the past, but with no insurance, $9 seems very reasonable to me! Have you started taking yours yet?
