Gabapetin

I have been on Gabapentin for 2 years for diabetic neuropathy, building up to 300mg x 3 times daily. Six months age I started getting a sore and burning feeling in my throat, which causes me to continually cough to clear my throat. I have had a camera down my throat and nothing bad showed. An x-ray showed I had some fluid in the base of my lungs -could this cause the soreness as well as the persistent cough? I tried reducing the Gabapentin to 200mg x 3 times and the cough eased a lot, but the nerve pain got worse so I increased it again ## Hello, Pamopal! How are you? I take 1200 mg of gabapetin a day, 1 mg klonapin for sleep. From my rheumatogist. My pcp put me on ibuprofen 800mg every 12 hrs. And also lidoderm 5% patches. Will there be any side effects from the ibuprofen 800mg. And will I have any problems getting the new presciptions filled by my pcp. Just got the new scripts. ## Hello, Lynnda! How are you doing? if prescribed 600 mgs of gabapetin 3 times a day, is it ok to take all 3 at bedtime instead of during the day due to drowsiness? ## Hi rita, Depending on what you're taking it for, the usual adult dose is taken orally in 3 divided doses. If you do take it all at once (which you can), then I'd imagine you'd have to take more at some point in the day when it begins to wear off; thus making you take more than you are prescribed to take. Have you talked to your doctor about upping your dosage?

I have hot flashes and i have just been prescrbed gabapetin 300mg. Anybody elsr? ## I've been on it for about a year now and I have gotten hit flashes but been thinking it's early menopause. I'm 43. I NEVER put two and two together. I've also been allergic to dogs for instance. I had dogs alllll my life. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Another thing. I've always had sleep problems. I am experiencing swollen ankles and feet with slight discoloration on top side of my feet more. Could gabapetin 300 mg be causing this problem. ## Based on my research, Gabapentin does list "swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs" as a common side effect. I'm not sure about the discoloration you mentioned, but it's very likely to be related to swelling/inflammation. Had neck surgery. but it didn't help with my legs and feet. They are numb, feels like they are asleep, my hands also are numb and feel like sandpaper. I am a multiple myeloma patient, undergone 3 cycles of chemotherapy with bortezomib,and undergone autologus bonemarrow transplantaion.Suffering from BINP for last 5 months, commencing from second cycle of chemo.I am on dosage of 900mg for last 4 months,distributed equally thrice a day. I do not find much help. A patient who used a dosage of 1800 mg per day reported improvement. Little scared of the high dosage.
