folitrax side effects, good effects on long use, i have been recommended to take once a week followed by hifenac-p. let me know the effects plese, good and bad ## Common side effects while taking Methotrexate (ingredient in Folitrax) can include anemia, neutropenia, increased risk of bruising, nausea and vomiting, dermatitis and diarrhea. A small percentage of patients develop hepatitis, and there is an increased risk of pulmonary fibrosis. Methotrexate was originally used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens to treat many kinds of cancers. I am taking folitrax10mg tablets once a week. I also take ARAVA 10 mg daily as prescribed my doctor. I am under this treatment for Rhematoid arthriti for the last 3 months.. I also take etodoloc 300mg once a day. I feel better now . I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. Doctor prescribed Folitrax 15 mg, every monday. Since 15 mg tablets are not available in the available, can I take 3 tablets of Folitrax 5 mg, together? Will it create any problem? ## Hi Granny, The only potential problem I see with taking three 5mg tablets as opposed to one 15mg tablet, is that you are getting 3x the amount of binders/fillers, otherwise known as inactive ingredients. Certain "inactive" ingredients which may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. In other words they could effect the overall absorption and efficacy of the drug itself; so more is not always better in that regard. I have been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica and am on Defcort 6 mg and Folittrax 2.5 mg. I am very concerned about the side effects. My doctor is monitoring the tablets very closely but what are the side effects of the abolve tablets. I am especially worried about my eyes getting affected. ## I am located in Mumbai, India. I had been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 1980 and after treating it with Neomercazole for 15 years, took oral iodine radiation and then went into hypothyroidism. I am taking Folitrax 10 mg - 2 tabs twice a week for about three years.I do not have pain in the body , but my ESR level is hovering between 40 to 60 . My doctor tells me that some person' s ESR level generally remains high and is a normal position. My age is 73 . My question is - Can I discontinue Folitrax now. I have thoroughly studied its side effects which far outweigh its curative effects.Please give your independent opinion based on your experience as my doctor has not discontinued it yet. ...
