Can you suggest any alternatives. Over the counter or other perscription more widley accepted. ## Trish, your best bet is to check with your insurance company, most of them have a drug formulary list that will let you know what they will cover, then you and your doctor can look it over and see if there are any other viable alternatives. ## I want to know why my doctor would prescrib Folbic Acid for me. Is it a generic of Plavix.

Learn more Folbic details here. Thus, I'd suggest checking with your doctor to see what your best alternative would be. Why are you taking it?

Anthem pathway is not covering Folbic. What can I get instead? ## Hello, Meatbe! How are you? Folbic is just a potent multivitamin, there are various others available, so you should just ask your doctor to prescribe an alternative that your insurance will cover, or that is available as a generic. should a dialysis patient get iron and and folbic ## They are sometimes given to dialysis patients, because the process can cause them to be deficient in Folic Acid and Iron, so they could end up anemic and ill, on top of the conditions they are already fighting. I am taking folbic for high homocysteine levels and am considering becoming pregnant. Is there any research on the effects of taking such high doses of folic acid while pregnant? My pharmacist informed me that Folbic contains about 6.5-7 times the dose of folic acid that is usually contained in a typical prenatal vitamin. Would there be any harm in just using a regular prenatal vitamin and putting the Folbic on hold until after the pregnancy? ## I took Foltx while pregnant and my pregnancy went fine. You have to take the higher dosages because your body is not able to absorb folic acid from food, so where a normal person can get folic acid from food and prenatal vitamins you can not. Also, high dosages of folic acid can deplete your B vitamins so you need the combination to replace what...

oval shape, color is pink ## I dont know if this is causing it but I am a runner and coincidentally around when I started taking the Folbic Tab Brenckrdg - I feel that I get a tad bit more exhausted while running. Also, notice a sour taste in my mouth and tend to consume more water than I am used to. Is it the Folbic? ## The sour taste and thirst can happen with some vitamin supplements, however I don't see anything regarding the tiredness. Have you tried asking your doctor or pharmacist? ## Thanks Verwon, Yes I talked to my doctor and he suggested I get off Folbic and use an over-the-counter B12 supplement which is what I was doing in the past.. The tiredness is so minimal - like in a 50 minute workout I take a total break of 2 minutes which I did not need before. Could be a variet...

My doctor recently prescribed Folbic for my vitamin deficiency. How do I know its working and can I also supplement with additional b vitamins? ## Hello, Mark! How are you doing? You should see an improvement in whatever symptoms caused your doctor to check for it, if it's working. And no, it would not be advisable to add more B vitamins, because getting to much of some of them can also be dangerous. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does folbic help with memory loss? My mom has taken it for two weeks and no improvement yet ?? ## Hello, Steph! How are you and your mom? The FDA classifies this as just a multivitamin, so the only way it would help was if the memory loss was due to a deficiency in one of the vital nutrients it contains, such as the B12, which is known to help with cognitive function. Its only known typical side effects is nausea, due to its potency. Has this been prescribed for her?

Wife uses Folbic and has for several years (colonectomy). I am retired and have been forced to change insurance. New insurance (AARP Medicare Rx) forces me to use selected pharmacies (for us Walgreens). Walgreens doesn't have Folbic and forced me to buy Vite-Virt Forte for 73.17 (90 Tabs). I think this is a lot more than I paid for Folbic. Can anyone else validate this? ## I am also a Walgreens customer and was told Folbic was no longer available. I was changed to Vert-Vite, but seem to be having an allergic reaction. It also seemed to be more expensive. Can anyone verify if Folbic is still available somewhere besides Walgreens? Thank you! ## From my findings there don't appear to be any official announcements stating that Folbic is off the market. However, a drug monograph by N...

Folbic Tab Brenckrdg an oval pill pink with b384 on it . Will it help with memory ? also how long can you take this pill? ## Hi Betty. The Folbic tablets contain Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) 2 mg + Folic Acid 2.5 mg + Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) 25 mg - in other words, they are a B vitamin supplement. Vitamin B6 is thought to have a number of therapeutic benefits, including improved memory. "A double-blind, placebo controlled study found that memory improved in elderly men that supplemented with pyridoxine, according to the Linus Pauling Institute. However, more research is needed to determine if pyridoxine improves cognition in unimpaired individuals." Since this is basically a vitamin, what over the counter product would be as effective? ## Hello, Jim! How are you? Since Folbic is classified by the FDA as a very potent prescription multivitamin, there is nothing available over the counter that is as potent, that's why it's prescription only. The best thing to do would be to speak to your doctor and see if there is something close that you can take that may help you. Getting to much of some nutrients can be dangerous, but there are others where it doesn't matter. Potent multivitamins may also cause nausea, after taking them. Are you low in anything in particular? ## Thanks for the reply. Actually it is for my wife.
