I'm cleaning out my medicine cabinet and came across this old RX (cream). It doesn't say what it is for. Can ypu tell me what this RX is used for? ## Hi Suzanne, Based on my research, I believe the abbreviations you mentioned are supposed to correspond with the following list of medications: Ketoprofen (Keto), Baclofen (Baclo), Cyclobenzprine (Cyclo), and Lidocaine (Lido) Apparently the cream itself is meant to be used for inflammation and pain. However, I am unsure of what "Flurb" is supposed to stand for. Do you have any other clues as to what this particular ingredient may be? ## Flurbiprofen is a NSAID that has been available since 1988. It is rarely prescribed in oral form as it has been known to cause spikes or fluctuations in blood pressure and reduces the effecti...

I HAVE NEUROPATHY. I HAVE SEVER BURNING IN MT FEET AND SOMETIMES HANDS, I HAVE THE TINGLING ALSO IN BOTH. MY DOCTOR HAS ME ON GABA 600MGS 3 TIMES A DAY BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE HLPING WITH THE BURNING. COULD YOU PLEASR TELL ME IF THIS WOULD WORK. ## Hello, Terri! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. Has your doctor prescribed this? It is just various medications compounded into a cream to be used topically, but most of them have not ever been proven to be effective topically. And since you are already taking oral Gabapentin, you would need to check with your doctor before using this, since it also contains it. How long have you been taking it? It is not an actual analgesic, so it will take 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your bo...

what is this and is it good for my foot I dropped a hurricane window on it and I have a bruised bone? ## This is something specially ordered by a doctor and compounded by a pharmacy that is intended to be used topically to treat pain or skin conditions. Flurbiprofen and Diclofenac are both nonsteroidal anti-ifnlammatories, Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant, Lidocaine is a topical anesthetic, Betamethasone is a steroid. However, I am not totally sure what the pentox and bupiv are, but your pharmacist should be able to tell you. Since it's used topically side effects are usually minimal and just include some skin irritation. Does anyone else recognize those 2 ingredients?

I have not opened it yet, but it was expired. It was prescribed on 11/27/13. Can I still use it? Is this safe? ## It does not become dangerous once expired, according to NIH studies, but it can lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when fresh and new. It would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription, if you need to use it. The FDA warns that its typical side effects may cause skin redness, rash, irritation, and flaking. Are you on any other medications?
