I went to the ER and was treated for an allericic reaction to flagyl. I had a rash, shortness of breath, severe heartburn and stomach cramps. How long do these symptoms last after being treated in a local ER? ## What type of treatment did the ER provide? It can take a week or two, for all of the symptoms to clear up, depending on how much you had taken, how long you took it and etc., according to the NIH. Such reactions usually get worse, with repeated exposure, though, so it would likely be best to avoid taking this medication in the future.

Started out taking Flagyl, 2000 mg in one day......did not work....cultured and e-coli infection....given 10 days of Cipro.....still have burning and pressure....At wits end....leaving in two days for vacation........I seem to get these quite often..had fishy smell, took bath and bang, next day burning..... ## Hello, Rosie! I have tried every told on how to pill a cat and after many cut and bits they still spit it out ## Take the medication and smash the pill between two spoons mix it in hot water and put in a syringe and give it that way alittle at a time, that is how I started giving my animals the medicatipn and it does work. Let the hot water cool off after you mix it. Put the syringe into the side of the mouth and it will go down. Have Hpyloric and being treatedwith Flagyl 3xDay and clindamycin--not clarithromycin Bid as well as the PP pill. On my 11th day out of 14 and stay nauseated. Tried separating the doses and not all together but within an hr of each other. Does this sound like a plan! Thank you. Is Clindamycin just as good? Thank you ## Clindamycin is not the preferred antibiotic that's approved to eradicate H. Pylori. Was there some reason you were prescribe it, rather than another one? i have been having this abdominal pain since december it started after my my periods i went to the doctor she gave me erythromycin and flagyl which i took for a week the pain subside a bit but came back few days after finishing the course and this time the pain was concentrated on both my fallopian tubes so i went back to the doctor who gave me a 14 day course of doxycline and flaggyl the pain eases after that i was late on period for 17 days when they(periods) came i had a severe abdominal cramps i used pain killers to ease the pain and the pain is still there and now is severe was not able to go back to doctor till today.anyone with the same problem ## How can i cobsive fast what can i take..........i surfer from period pain ## Same problem please help me m suffering since 2 years

While the FDA does classify Metronidazole as an antibiotic, so it may help, it will not fix whatever underlying problem has caused the abscess, such as a deep dental cary.
