 Fentanyl

Fentanyl, also spelled fentanil, is an opioid used as a pain medication and together with other medications for anesthesia.[3] Fentanyl is also used as a recreational drug, often mixed with heroin or cocaine.[5] It has a rapid onset and its effects generally last less than two hours.[3] Medically, fentanyl is used by injection, as a patch on the skin, as a nasal spray, or in the mouth.[3] Common side effects include vomiting, con...

I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I have read the messages here and have decided not to use the Fentanyl. Thanks to everyone! ## Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I have Fibromyalgia and IT IS REAL!!!!!!!!! ## That is true, the Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine and i... ...

I have been on fentanyl patch the 50 for about 3 years and kept telling the doctor I was having side effects so I am being weaned off to see if it is the fentanyl. I would become very agitated, could not sleep the first day patch was applied and have vivid dreams and would itch and skin burn and feel like I was going crazy and at times felt like it was an overdose but the main thing I lost down to 93lbs. The doctor is slowly weaning me but I am still having withdrawl at times. Has anyone else had these side effects and will the withdrawls get bad so far not that bad ## If you are doing a slow taper, then they will not get much worse, just keep following your doctor's instructions. ## Yes I am in the boat. I really don't know how long I can stay on the patches because of these pr... ...

Hi I'm on Fentanyl Transdermal System 100mcg every 72 HR. for chronic back and I take Hydrocod 10/325. I have a T12 fracture Osteoporosis(bad) and severe after affect of shingles. My Dr said I should have no pain but I do it's like I'm not taking anything for this pain! does anyone have any Ideas whats going on here HELP it's been a year but only on Fentanyl 6 months. thanks ## Oh, I've been to those types of doctors before and I am very sorry to hear what you are going through. The simple fact of the matter is that no matter how strong a medication is, they just don't all work for everyone. It would be wonderful if they did, but they don't. Unfortunately, with all the medication abuse that goes on, some doctors are very reluctant to believe a patient in rega... ...

it is a patch that is called transdermal system and it says 25 mcg/hr and also says each transdermal system contains: 2.55 mg fentanyl Iam a first time user on this meaication what would it do to me????? ## Well, this can have some adverse effects. I am not sure if you have previously used narcotics, I know this should not be used by anyone who has not already built up a narcotic tolerance as it is a very, very strong med. 80 times stronger than Morphine as a matter of fact. My doctor tried taking from Darvocet to the patch 25s and I was so sick, for days, that I couldn't even hold down water, even when she gave me the strongest antinausea that she could. Some people love these, they can work wonders for pain, but they don't agree with some people, so you will basically have to ... ...

if you take a 25 mg Fentanyl Patch and it is not that strong of a prescription for you, can you take additonal painkillers like vicodin as needed? Like taking a few vicodin every few hours during the day while on the patch. ## Please DON'T first stop the Fentanyl It's a nightmare!!!! You are on a path you don't want to travel. Find another way, PLEASE for your own sake!!! ## Fentanyl is 80times stronger than Morphine, therefore, I guarantee it is STRONG for you! Mixing it with other narcotics would be extremely dangerous, it is highly addictive and you run the risk of overdose, with possible fatal consequences. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can read more about this medication here: This is one of the MOST PO... ...

Fentanyl dose

I just got my brothers autopsy report back and it says he died from overdose of Fentanyl and Methone . It says no alcohol. Methone amount was.05 fentanyl was .19 is that enough for someone to die? ## I am so very sorry for your loss. There's no specific range that can be given to answer your question. It depends on the person, their age, weight, overall health and their tolerance to narcotics. Some people can take quite a lot and not have a problem, while other may overdose at much lower doses. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic opiates, so there is a risk of them being habit forming and abused. Their typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Did he have any medical conditions? ...

fentanyl free

Just checking in after not logging on for awhile. Today is my 34th day Fentanyl patch free! I'm so thankful! I'm also back to my original pain level. Unfortunately I thought I could also go right into my hydrocodone cessation. I did. But I need it. Trying to cope for ten more days until my next appt ! ## Hello, Yvonne! I am so sorry that you are in pain, again. Has it eased up, any? When you go cold turkey off of such medications, there is a risk of rebound pain occurring, which can sometimes be worse than the pain you started taking it to treat, so you may be dealing with a double whammy, the rebound effect and your old pain returning. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry... ...

was on Fentanyl 25mcg for one month. Doctor is switching me to Butrans patch 15mcg. He says to short a time to get withdrawals .and how long do I wait before I use the Butran after taking off the Fentanyl ? Thank you ## Hello, Sue! How are you? I'm afraid that I must disagree with your doctor on that, because Fentanyl is a very potent opiate, so you may still experience some withdrawals. Additionally, the Buprenorphine in the Butrans may cause you to go into precipitated withdrawals, if you start it too soon. Usually you need to wait until you're in full withdrawal, before starting it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipatio... ...

Hi I have been on oxynorm 100ml a day and 150mg fentanyl patches every three days I want to stop the oxynorm liquid does anyone no what the sideaffects will be Many thanks Dean ## Hello, Dean! How are you? Oxynorm contains the active ingredient Oxycodone, so you may experience some withdrawal effects, such as chills, fever, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness and rebound pain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi thanks for your help it has been three days since I last had any oxynorm, I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms yet will it still happen Dean ...

i going on suboxen and need to knnow when i start subs ## Hello, Mike! How are you? You actually need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone. It contains Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone, which neutralizes other narcotics to prevent them being used, while someone is being treated with it, so taking it too soon could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. What instructions did your doctor provide? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you been off of the Fentanyl? ...

fentanyl 75mcg

I am always tired. Looking for energy. Friend gave me a fentanyl 75mcg patch. Will that give me energy? ## Hello, Mozzy! How are you? No, the FDA classifies Fentanyl as a narcotic analgesic and it can cause dizziness, drowsiness and fatigue as side effects, along with nausea, dry mouth and constipation. This is also very potent and should not be used if it wasn't prescribed for you. If you are not opiate tolerant, you could easily overdose. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KEEP THE PATCH FROM COMING OFF AFTER SECOND DAY ? I SHOWER A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND ON THE SECOND DAY THE PATCH WON'T STAY ON.THEN YOU USE MORE THAN WHAT IS PERSCRIBED AND YOU RUN OUT OF PATCHES AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T PAY FOR ANY MORE THAN PERSCRIBED, THEN COMES WITHDRAWAL? ## The information I received with my patches indicate that the patch should not get wet. I have the same problem. In reading other post, there is a clear cover that can be obtained to protect the patch from water. I have not researched for any sourses, but will soon. I will contact you again if I find a resonable sourse, unless I see another post answers your question. fentanyl patch

Hi, I'm on the 50mcg patch,my Dr. also has me on norco 10. I want to get off the patch so bad, but I'm fighting a staph infection for the second time in three months. Back in May I had injections in my lumbar, and four days later I was in the hospital with 104 degree fver. I ended up having emergency back surgery to clean out the infection. By the time I went to surgery (two days later, because my Dr.'s at thetime are idiots) I was septic, w/ 105 degree fever. Needless to say, I nearly died. When I finally got out of the hospital the second time, ( with NEW Dr.'s, my Pain Mngmt doc put me on Fentanyl 50, and dilaudid 2mg 3x a day, I couldn't function. So I asked my Dr to change my meds, she only changed the dilaudid to norco 10, one every 4 to six hours. Now after re... ...
