If weight gain and larger breast are common why would my doctor give me this when I complained about my weight gain? The last thing I want is to gain even more weight. I was told I've gained the weight because my body is craving the estrogen. ## Because what they list as common side effects are still only experienced by a very small percentage of the people that have taken it. light blue oval ## side effect of est estrogenmtest ## These are synthetic hormones, so there is a possibility that they may cause quite a few side effects, such as nausea, headache, weight gain, acne, irregular bleeding, cramping, fluid retention and others. The risks are greater for older women and for smokers. If you don't have to take these, I really think everyone should explore their other options, such as natural bio-identical hormone replacement and natural balancing. All medications can have different effects on different people. You may be on the wrong medication for you or on too high of a dosage. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? ## I was on Estratest HS .0625 mg since 1987 after a complete hystrectomy. The pharmacy took me off and has given me Estrogenmtest HS. Is this the same? I know have tender breast which I didn't have on the Estratest. At the time my doctor told me not to take a generic. I started taking this a week ago. Since I have been taking it in the mornings, I have been tired, no energy and my legs hurt, can not concentrate or be able to think. I changed to the nights and I sleep really hard and by noon I am ready to sleep again, I am starting to get headaches and my legs still hurt. But i get tired still at noon, but i am able to think a little better in the morning. I had a hysterectomy almost a yr ago and we are still trying to find something to help me. I have been using the patch with progestin supplements for 5 yrs (guessing) and expect my dr will want me t discontinue soon. I'll be 55 in2 mos. I am ambivalent as i still have experienced hot flashes when nearing time to change the patch. Can anyone recommend alternative safer treatment? ## For me anything is safer. My Dr. put me on premarin, then prempro and never told me to stop so I was on it for 15 yrs. and had a stroke, that's one of the side effects. I had complete hysterectomy ## It is possible, it can be a side effect of HRT, they are known to cause some weight gain, however, having a hysterectomy can also cause some weight gain, so there is no way to say for certain. Have you spoken to your doctor about your concerns?

I have been informed that EEST HS is now a CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE !! I have been taking this med for several years as hormone replacement therapy. Now, my prescription plan has changed my expiration date from 1 year to 6 months, and I have to contact my physician for a triplicate controlled substance prescription which must be mailed in and cannot be faxed in. green long oval tablet 805 on one side and what appears to be a fancy A on the other side. ## I had complete hysterectomy in 1989. Took no HR after that until I hit 50 and then BAM! So I took Estratest and it worked fast and well for many years. In 2004 the doctor said I should get off it, so I did. Then I went nuts with horrible hot flashes, and decided to get cheaper meds, so they gave me estrogenmtest HS, which is MUCH cheaper. I took only 3X/wk and lately started taking 7 days a week since the flashes came back. I have had headaches and dizziness for days now and even a bit of nausea. I have not gained weight, but I certainly have not lost any weight; I do not eat much, so ... you would expect me to lose something. I have been taking this medicine for 8 years....it works for me....now they tell me that i have to take this Covaryx......it is very expensive since i dont have any insurance...why??? did the manufacturer stop making estrogenmtest....it was so much cheaper....and it worked... ## Hello, Lisa!
