Laxatives (purgatives, aperients) are foods, compounds or drugs taken to loosen the stool, most often taken to treat constipation. Certain stimulant, lubricant and saline laxatives are used to evacuate the colon for rectal and/or bowel examinations, and may be supplemented by enemas under certain circumstances. Enerjets Caffeine

Caffeine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant of the methylxanthine class.[11] There are several known mechanisms of action to explain the effects of caffeine. The most prominent is that it reversibly blocks the action of adenosine on its receptors and consequently prevents the onset of drowsiness induced by adenosine. Caffeine also stimulates certain portions of the autonomic nervous system. It is also used as a cognitive enhancer which increases alertness and attenti...

My Dr. prescribed 1.62% pump after I complained about excessive tiredness. Test results showed my T level to be 1/2 the recommended minimum. After using three pumps I suddenly regained energy and was no longer sleeping 10 or more hours at night and 3 - 4 hours in the afternoon. However, my latest refill changed instructions. I had been applying the gel to my belly but now the instructions say to only apply to shoulders and upper arms. I have done this for a week and my lack of energy and long periods of sleep have returned. Should I ignore the new instructions and apply to my belly as that worked best for me? Why did they change the instructions? I am 73. I noticed there was no increase in libido although that was not why it was prescribed.

I am interested in enemas for detoxing the body but I'm afraid of getting very nauseous. What's the best and easiest way to deliver it? ## Hello, Stargirl2013! How are you? An enema consists of forcing the substance of choice up into your intestines through your anal cavity, not swallowing it or anything, so it really shouldn't cause much nausea. Some of the stimulant medications that are used for constipation can cause nausea, but that's usually not what's used in most detox enemas. It's also not proven to detox the body any more effectively than your natural bowel movements and before you engage in such, you need to check with your doctor to make sure that it is safe for you to do so. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks very much

My extremely energetic dog takes Trazodone for calming. Recently the pharmacy refilled with a different manufacter pill which was slightly smaller and made by Zydus. The original RX was manufactured by TEVA. The effects were not the same....the dog was still bouncing off the walls after giving same dosage. I question the pharmacist who told me "it's just what they send us" and "it's the same drug". I disagree. Any info or comments? ## Hello Susan, Both of you are correct. The different manufacturers sell a drug that has the same quality and dosage of the same active ingredient as your pharmacist says, however, this does not mean that all of the inactive igredients are the same between the pills. The inactive ingredients in the medicine is just as important and im...

I had Traumatic Brain Injury 6yrs ago. Work related and I would much rather work my butt off than be disabled! My energy level is so low since TBI. I take 4 tablets daily of generic Adderal. Lately it's been hard to get the whole rx filled. I was able to get 5 days of real Adderal! Is it my imagination or did it really give me energy to get up and ready to go much faster than the generic Adderal? Within 30mins verses anywhere from 1hour to 4hours? I would really appreciate your comments on this. Thank you for your time. ## No, it is not necessarily your imagination. There can be differences between generic and name brand medications. There are allowed to differ in the amount of the active ingredient by as much as plus or minus 20%. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic wi...

I too have increased energy and cheerfulness with a single 50 mg Tramadol. When I don't take it for a day I am very lethargic and ache. I try not to take it more than a few days in a row. The doctor is surprised at the side effects. Thank you to those who shared a similar experience. I had been wondering if this was my imagination. I hope to stay off it several days to see if my usual energy returns as it did eventually the last time I didn't take it for several days. It's a great mild pain reliever, but the mood alteration concerns me. ## Hi, Suellen! How are you? The classification for Tramadol has changed several times over the years, right now it is once again classified as an opioid and they can cause increased energy and euphoria in some people that take them. That...

Is anyone having trouble with the new generic for Wellbutrin? It doesn't seem to be working as well. I hesitate to go back to the original Rx since it is so expensive. HELP. ## i just took generic and don't know it that's the reason I have been feeling more energy and some wakefullness at night. ## There are many people who have been having a problem with it, though the FDA says the differences are insignificant. In reality, generic medications DO NOT have to be exactly like their name brand counterparts. They are allowed to differ in the ACTIVE ingredient by plus or minus 20%. In addition, the ingredient used DOES NOT have to be the same, they only have to prove that it is 'biologically equivelent' and works in the body in the same manner as the name brand did. The ...

Today, my boyfriends 6 year old son was started on Vyvanse. His father has been fighting the medicating of his son in court; we are now court ordered to give the med. This bright, energetic boy is perfect as he is: behaviors are mainly while with Mom, which is 80% of his time. I am heart sick as I read about the dangers, side effect and anger caused by this med. I come to this with some knowledge. I have a 24 year old daughter who was diagnosed as ADHD and took Ritalin for about 10 years. I regret that decision; she and I both hated the med, and used it only for school hours. The primary side effects for that were primarily loss of appetite. She did take Adderall for 1 week; and my beautiful daughter had horrible rage alternating with episodes of weeping. Now here I am years later; with...

I am a diabetes patient so my doctor prescribed me the tablet glycine1gm tabs first time I am using this tablet so I want to known the benefits and now I am so active otherwise I am so tiredness and leg pain ## When you have diabetes, your body isn't able to properly use the sugars that you ingest, via food, or drink, to burn them for fuel. Instead, most are left to run throughout your blood stream in high amounts, which can result in severe organ damage, organ failure, or death. This medication is used to help your body operate more efficiently, so it can use the sugar it needs for energy, and expel the excess via body waste, such as urine. According to the NIH. My Neurologist gave me Amantadine for Fibfromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, he said this would give me energy, but I am sleeping 16 hours a day. Is this normal? Can I take an over the counter energy pill to help me give me the energy I need? How long can I expect to wait for the side effects subside and the energy I need to function in life? ## I am not aware of it being used for such, nor is it an approved use listed by the FDA. They actually list its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, and drowsiness. Looking over the other listed side effects, such as mental depression, fainting, memory loss, stupor, anxiety... well, I really can't see how he expects it to give you energy.
