i am prescribed dilaudid for pain. well, they just gave me 2 drug tests and its not showing up. first was urine, then second was blood. nothing. now it looks like im banned from the practice. ive been taking them everyday for around 9 months. there is NO WAY in hell this is possible. so ive been doing some research and here is what ive gathered: a normal test for opiates will not reveal dilaidid/hydromorphone. they have to test specifically for the metabolite for dil/hyd.. is this correct? can anyone give me any info on what is going on here? this is crazy and like i said, ive taken these for 9 months religiously, so something is wrong. ## Bubby, Sorry to hear of your issues but dilaudid is a synthetic opiate so it Will test positive in standard urine screens. I've been on oxycodone 15mg and oxycodone 40mg long acting for over ten years. My pm Doctor drug tested my urine and is telling me I'm testing positive for hydromorphone and wants to stop giving me my pain medication. I have never taken anything except oxycodone as required by my pm contract. I have to do a blood test and need to have it in my blood. I have never taken the prescribed amount because of the addiction potential. Now I have a blood test and haven't taken it in 3 days even though my pain has been very severe. I don't really want to take it but need it in my blood. I have been taking three 4mg hydromorphone pills per day, for the past several months for chronic neck, back and leg pain. During two recent urine tests, the hrdromorphone was detected...but at a calculation smaller than what the doctor expected. My last urine test showed that NO hydromorphone was detected in my urine...even though I continued to take the pills as prescribed. What might cause these false readings. I receive a monthly script for Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) due to Chronic Back pain... Recently I got bit by pitbull & a friend shared some of their medication which I took for a few days till I felt better. She said after 24 hrs it transforms in body into Morphine (so if i take hydromorphone regularly & waited 34-48 hrs Id be fine for my UA if i got one)... So when I got in trouble for having Morphine in my UA I was upset and shocked! I take hydromorphone 4 mg tabs, my question is if I crush them and inject them will it show something different on a drug screen? ## You will test positive for hydromorphone on a urine drug screen, conditional on the fact that hydromorphone is the only substance you have taken (i.e If you smoked marijuana you will obviously test positive for that as well). This is due to the substance on the drug panel that you are ingesting, no matter what route of administration you take, it is still chemically hydromorphone. Hope this helps!

I take gabapentin, hydrocodone and oxycoxone but tested positive for hydomorphone in a drug test by my work places ## If they use one of the less expensive, non-certified tests then it was likely due to the Hydrocodone and/or Oxycodone that you take. It is well known that most narcotics will cause false positives for their relatives anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time on these types of tests. Learn more drug test details here. Dilauded DOES NOT show up on a urine test. I've passed EVERY time. It does not break down into morphine. ## It shows up if they are testing for hydromorphone. ## Does it show up on a 10 panel? Will the pain management clinic be able to tell from the drug test if I have been taking oxycodone instead of or on top of my hydromorphone? ## Yes they can test for different substances. One will show up in the morphine category and the other in what they call morphine under. So if they are a pain clinic they normally separate the substances in their urine screening. As regular drug tests 5, 7, panel (different tests), only show opiates. But you can buy drug tests at the pharmacy and even some of these separate substances. The opiate test tests primarily for morphine (which both codeine and heroin break down into). Hydromorphone does not break down into morphine, therefore it is not detected. i take an opana 20 mg. one every 12 hours and norco 10 mg 6 through out day. i recently had to do a 10 panel drug screen and a GCMS was done. i also take 1 mg zanax 3 time a day. why would hydromorphone show up instead of oxymorphone. i am just overwhelmed. I recently gave birth and the test they did on his first stool showed up hydromorophone. I was given morphine and vicodine at the hospital in September because I was really sick. I went to my pain doctor today, and received a drug screen. I only take diluadid 2mg 2ce a day and took one about an hour and a half before I went to the doctor.
