Diclofen Pot

What is the difference between diclofen pot 50mg tab mylan and diclofenac pot 50mg? I've been taking the latter of these for years however this time the script showed up as the diclofen pot 50mg mylan. Should I be concerned? Should I return it to the pharmacy? ## Hi Ron, Diclofen is actually reported to be a common misspelling or abbreviation of Diclofenac. So there shouldn't be any differences in the "active ingredients". However it is important to note that different brands/manufacturers often use a different set of "inactive" ingredients (known as binders/fillers). And doubling up on the Diclofenac could be dangerous, since it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that can increase your risk of bleeding and may cause stomach damage, as side effects reported by the FDA. You also have to be very careful how much Acetaminophen you take each day, as too much carries the risk of causing overdose toxicity, which may be fatal. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have had headaches for about 30 years. I have been to many doctors and tried a dozen or so medications while spending well over $10,000 and having good insurance. Three years ago a neurologist proscribed Diclofinic pot 50. It worked like a charm! I was amazed. Now I get a letter saying effective 1/1/19 Humanna is not going to cover it, at all. Not put it another more expensive class but just not cover it at all. Does anyone know why? It’s not an opioid drug. They recommend Diclofinic sot? Never heard of it. I have osteoarthritis and the only drug which provides some relief is diclofenac which I get on prescription. The last two months the chemist has said there are production problems and it is unavailable. This is a disaster for me. I accidentally took an expired diclofenac potassium drug, which was expired in 12/2016. It has been 15 minutes since I took it. What are the effects? Is there Sulfa in Diclofenac and will it have an effect on my Sulfa allergies? ## I also have a sulfa allergy and have taken diclofenac with no problem. ## @Nancy, Just to confirm, Diclofenac Sodium is not a sulfa-based drug; but rather a 'sodium salt'. So my understanding is in line with Karen's (post #1) in that you shouldn't experience any problems relating to a sulfa allergy. Needing to know if i could take both my meds bupropion xl 300mg and diclofen pot 300mg ## I take Bupropion 300XL, (generic Wellbutrin), and my doctor gave me a Rx for Diclofen Pot 50MG. Our pharmacist knows all my prescriptions and didn't mention any problem taking them both. I haven't noticed any side effects. Anti-inflammatory class drugs can mess with my stomach, but that's all. Speaking of Bupropion, I wish more doctors prescribed it rather than the SSRI drugs. Those are terrible. Made me so sleepy, gain weight and lose my libido. What a difference getting on Bupropion. what is the difference between diclofenac dr 75mg tab and diclofenac potassium 50mg tab? ## They are both Diclofenac Potassiume, however, the dosage is clearly difference and the DR means that the 75mg one is delayed released, so the medication is slowly released, after you take it, rather than being released all at once.
