what drug alterative for sotalol with advair for copd ## @rick, If you're looking for alternative COPD treatment options, some medications to consider speaking with your doctor for about may include, but are not limited to the following: -Bronchodilators (short/long-acting) *Albuterol *Levalbuterol *Ipratropium *Tiotropium *Arformoterol -Corticosteroids *Fluticasone *Prednisolone *Budesonide -Methylxanthines This is just to name a few, and it may be that your doctor could end up recommending something entirely different... however if you research each and every option out there, at least you can get a better idea of what to anticipate ahead of time. Does any one else out there have suggestions from personal experience?

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), also known as chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD), chronic obstructive airway disease (COAD), chronic airflow limitation (CAL) and chronic obstructive respiratory disease (CORD), is the occurrence of chronic bronchitis or emphysema, a pair of commonly co-existing diseases of the lungs in which the airways narrow over time.[1] This limits airflow to and from the lungs, causing shortness of breath (dyspnea). In clinical practice, COPD is defined...

I have COPD and was wondering if Ardosons will cause any adverse side effects to my breathing? I have 2 inhalers: Spriva (once daily) and Symbalta (twice daily). ## Ardosons contains Betamethasone, it is a steroid class medication that is used to treat allergic reactions, inflammation, and immune disorders. (An NDC link for more information: 66993-897.) The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including rash, nausea, headache, skin redness, and irritation. (In the U.S. it is most commonly used topically.) Symbalta is not the name of an inhaler? Can you please double check the name and post back? Thank you! And given you have issues breathing, it would be best not to take anything your doctor has not approved for you. ## In my first post I mistakenly mentioned that one of my in...

Has anyone tryed stem cell s for Copd. There is a place in Marriette Ohio that does it,has enyone heard about this. ## From what I've read, a number of clinics over the years have offered stem cell treatments for COPD, but these treatments can end up being pretty expensive and it seems to be unclear as to how well they really work. However, I did come across a number of studies on clinicaltrials.gov that you may want to have a look at via the links below. Perhaps some of the studies can help offer some insight on the effectiveness of this treatment: clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=stem+cells+AND+COPD clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=Stem+cells+AND+Chronic+Obstructive+Pulmonary+Disease I hope this info helps in any way!

Hi. I was wondering if anybody with hep-c also has c.o.p.d? I've recently been diagnosed. I have geno-3. I'm 64yrs old, feel totally confused. My dr isn't very clued up on hep-c and is not much help at all. I feel that doing treatment for hvc would be just too hard with breathing issues. Thanks. P.s. - The Atrovent puffer is now giving me urine retention. (great)

Are COPD and asthma medications known for causing Edema or puffy feet? I've also had Astrazeneca vaccine 2 weeks ago. Weather is starting to warm up here in Australia. Thanks ## Many medications can cause edema as a side effect, but I can't be more specific, without knowing which medications you are using, since there are quite a few available. Can you please post back with more details? There are also cases where edema can be caused by some other health issue, such as high blood pressure. You can learn more about Edema here, from Medline Plus. Have you ever had blood pressure problems? ## Hi, I'm in Australia. Very hot type of year especially with COPD asthma. Wife and I went through the floods here way back in March, still waiting for the insurance company to repair our h...

I was taken off Inderal because of my COPD, but recently my doctor said to take it again. I'm having reactions that may or may not be due to this med. Does anyone have answers please, concerning the combination of Beta blockers and COPD? ## Do you have any idea why the doctor told you to start taking the same medication, again? If you have high blood pressure, or some other cardiac condition, there are many other medications you can try. And yes, the FDA does warn that beta blockers, including Inderal, may cause problems for people that have COPD. Other side effects may include nausea, headache, dizziness, increased urination, and hypotension. What type of reactions are you having? Are you on any other medications?

How do I taper off of it. It has caused me so many different side effects. I have been taking it for 8 months ## Hi Alice, Sorry to hear about your challenges with Prednisone. From what I've researched online, it's usually best to work closely with your doctor on developing an appropriate tapering schedule while monitoring your progress as often as he/she see's fit.. This is because the amount of time that it may take to wean off Prednisone not only depends on the type of disease being treated, the dose/duration of use, but also other individual medical considerations as well. And if you were to experience any complications during the tapering process, at least in this situation your doctor would understand what's going on and would try do whatever it takes to help you r...

I am currently taking Spiriva, Advair and Atrovent as a rescue inhaler and have been for many years. I would be interested in knowing if there are newer, more advanced, medications on the market which are now being prescribed? ## I am not sure if it is available for you yet, but one of the newest to be approved in the U.S and the EU is Daliresp for COPD and other inflammatory breathing issues. There's also a pretty active thread about people's experiences using it here: Is there anything else I can help with? ## My mum has COPD and has been using the spiriva inhaler for a week now. Since using this she is coughing alot more . Is this normal and will the coughing subside?

I have COPD and recently after a stay in the hospital for a lung infection, the meds I was taking were changed. I am now on Trimbow 100/6/10. Has anyone heard of any side effects from this med? It's a corticosteroid and I've noticed swelling on my left ankle which seems to have caused a lack of movement within the left ankle. I'm 70 yrs old. Maybe the swelling is just an aging thing? Any info is appreciated. ## Has anybody else been on the Trimbow inhaler 2x a day? I'm not sure if it works for me. ## Same here was prescribed it on Thursday. Taken 2 puffs in morning and 2 at night. Iam still wheezing. Ask doctor if my copd was getting worse all he said was yes .mmm ## Hi keep t...

What do the letters COPD stand for? How do u contract COPD? What are the symptoms of COPD? What kind's of treatments are available for COPD? What kinds of medication is used to treat COPD? ## Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, there is no one way to contract it, someone may develop it after many years of smoking, years of dealing with chronic asthma, exposure to dangerous products they've inhaled, as well as other means, according to NIH reports. Some of the symptoms may include problems breathing, wheezing, chest tightness, and an inability to exercise. The treatments depend on what works for the person experiencing COPD, they may need to use oral medications to improve their breathing, inhalers, or even oxygen if it becomes severe. Pm put me on valium2mg,methadone2.5 mg at bedtime also take 4 norco 10 a day, have copd and chronic pain scared to take anyone have any experience on this? ## Hello, Gigi! How are you? Narcotics can cause CNS depression, but the real question is how bad is your COPD? That's a very low dose of both medications. I have lung problems and had tuberculosis when I was younger. I am now 66, have COPD and am very chemically sensitive. The dentist put me on clindamycin for an abscessed tooth. A lot of medications shut my lungs down and my oxygen drops. Should I take this medication? ## Is your dentist aware that you have had, and do have, such health issues? Are you on any other medications? The FDA warns that it carries the risk of causing side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. However, overall, it would be far more dangerous to let an infection like this rage out of control, than it is to try the medication. Have you taken it, yet?

My father was in rehab and he has copd and they did not give him his tudorza at all and only gave him his symbicort 2 times. He is home now and his oxygen level is dropping more. Could not taking his inhalers cause his copd to worsen? ## There is a chance that it could, though there is also a chance that it has worsened on its own, due to the nature of the condition, according to the NIH. Why didn't they give him his inhalers? Is he back on them, now? Is he on any other medications?
