Clonidine 0.01mg.

How many Clonidine's of 0.01 mg could cause an overdose?? A friend of mine has taken more than prescribed and I would like to know if what she did take is safe or not. ## My mistake. It's clonidine 0.1 mg ## Without knowing how many they took, it's difficult to say. When it comes to overdosing, it can vary according to the medication taken, the person's overall health and their tolerance to the medication in question. In other words, someone with a very high tolerance that has taken something for years may not have any problems taking a very high dose of something, where a fraction of it may cause an overdose in someone that has not been on it very long or who is in questionable health. However, yes this one can be dangerous due to its mechanism of action, so if you'... ...

clonidine 0. 2 mg

I have recently been put on this drug for sleeping and well its not working at all. I have been taking one at night before bedtime which is what I was told but is it safe to take 2 since im not getting any rest with the 1? ## Also I failed to mention in last comment they are 0.2 mg ## I would recommend trying 1 1/2 first take it no more than 15 mins before bed it works fast. But if u take it 1hour or 30 mins before bed you can kind of simulate yourself into it not working then it loses its effect. Once the groggy effect wears off before your in bed most likely you will not fall asleep well. ## I would also call your doctor to let he/she know it's not working because if you increase your dose without say so to the doctor they will not be happy and you will run out of meds early. If t... ...

Taking Clonidine

My doctor has started me on clonidine pills, taking them 2-3 times per day. I was told by a nurse that he has me taking too many. Should I be concerned? ## Hi Pamela, u didn't mention the reason why the doc has u taking it or the mg. it is. (theres many reasons docs prescribe it). Anyway, my doc prescribed it to help with the side effect of extreme sweating I get from being on methadone (in case ur not familiar, methadone is a med that helps keep people off pain pills). I'm not a junkie however from a few scripts for legit pain pills from doc it got me hooked. However, with the help from the methadone I've been completely clean 8yrs now. can 2 clonidine 0 1 mg hurt me

Hi i was wondering if i took 2 0.1 mg of clonidine would it hurt me i just got prescribed them help me sleep and they did not make me sleepy so i took one more is that bad ## Hi Kerri, According to NIH, Clonidine is available in three dosage strengths (0.1 mg, 0.2 mg and 0.3 mg). So it's certainly not unheard of to take 0.2mg. The following excerpt on 'Clonidine's maintenance dosing' was quoted from NIH's webpage: "Further increments of 0.1 mg per day may be made at weekly intervals if necessary until the desired response is achieved. Taking the larger portion of the oral daily dose at bedtime may minimize transient adjustment effects of dry mouth and drowsiness. The therapeutic doses most commonly employed have ranged from 0.2 mg to 0.6 mg per day given in divid... ...

CLONIDINE REBOUND

Have been struggling to taper off Clonidine since mid Feb. Was on 0.2mg transdermal patch for 5 wks; switched to 0.1mg patch for 10 days. Had 5 withdrawal rebound attacks in that time, the first time when I stopped cold turkey, a couple times when the patch would lose its potency from peeling off, and then when I dropped from 0.2mg to 0.1mg. In each case, BP spiked between 160/95 to 180/100 and had anxiety, tremor tachycardia. I can always tell when my BP is elevated by the surge in anxiety and HR. Doc prescribed Verapamil 80mg TID to help manage the rebound which I soon after stopped, as it didn't help with the rebounds; later added Lisinopril 10mg to no avail, but am still on it. I now am trying to manage weaning off using Clonidine 0.025mg caps I had compounded and still reboundi... ...
