So I was taking claritin D 24hr tablet everyday for about 6-8 months. My doctor told me I needed to stop taking it because it was causing to make my anxiety worse so I stopped it cold turkey well about 3 days after stopping it I started noticing I was getting really bad anxiety and feeling nauseous. Thought it was stress then started getting jittery and intense itching, followed by sleep problems and body aches from being so tense and headaches. I know this has to be a withdrawal from the allergy med. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and help on what I can do to help this !! It's very hard to deal with !! ## Hello, Heather! I wrote the company that makes Drixoral several months ago and they recommended Claritin D. It doesn't work nearly as well as Drixoral. I can't stand the sick feeling or bad allergy symptoms I have without Drixoral. ## I have had success with ClaratinD 12 hour(it has pseudophedrine sulfate) and Wal mart's Equate children's cough & cold DM elixer (it has Brompheniramine maleate) I could not find any product with dexbrompheniramine maleate in it but the brompheniramine maleate seams to work. I have been taking Drixorl Cold & Allergy for over 20 years. When I could no longer get it I was so sick I could not get out of bed most days. Do you think we are addicted to Drixoral? These symptoms sound like what drug addicts go through when they can't get a fix. My husb...

I wanted to find out if this has Sudafed in it and if it has to have a prescription to get it? ## Hi famous, How are you? To answer your question, Claritin (also known as Loratadine) does not contain any Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine) in and of itself. However, it is "available in combination" with that specific medication as well as others. It will also require a prescription from your doctor here in the US, but I'm not aware of the laws in other countries. I hope this helps!

Was told I can't purchase any more this month. I have only bought it 1 time this year, on May 7th. Now over 2 weeks later they say no more this month. Where else is it available? ## Hello, Gost! How are you? I'm sorry, but if you've reached your purchase limit, then no store will be able to sell it to you. Purchases of these products are logged in a database, which is why you have to sign for them and show ID. You will have to wait until the month is up, before you can purchase a new supply. Claritin D contains Loratadine and Pseudoephedrine, the latter of which is commonly abused and often adulterated to manufactured illicit substances. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and nervousness. Is t...

Hi... I need to know if Sudafed or Claritin have markings on their pills? A friend gave me them and said they were a decongestant such as Sudafed or Claritin but I am unsure if the product is Tylenol or something else? Please help. ## They might have markings, depending on the manufacturer. Can you please post back with more details, such as any markings on them? That is what would enable me to identify a medication for you. Thank you! The FDA lists the typical side effects of decongestants as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nervousness, and dry mouth.

My daughter is 16 and 125 pounds and having a horrible time with allergies and had terrible headache! Is it safe for her to take 2 Claritin10 at once? Was wondering if higher dosage would help or hurt? ## Hello, Marie! How is she doing? Actually, rather than doubling up, you should take her to her doctor. They may be able to prescribe something that would work better for her than the Claritin. The headache could also signify that she's developed a sinus infection, which could require an antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, headache and non=allergic skin rash. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Capsule turmeric and black pepper. TAke morning and night. Allergies gone. Don't believe me? Try it. I...

Can I also take Claritin D medicine with dimetapp cold and allergy together? ## Hi Anne, From what I could gather, there are no drug interactions listed between the active ingredients in Claritin-D (loratadine + pseudoephedrine) and Dimetapp Cold & Allergy (brompheniramine + phenylephrine). So with that said, you shouldn't experience any problems taking the two medications together. However, I would always recommend consulting with your doctor first before making any changes to your current regimen. This way if certain side effects do occur, he or she would at least be aware of the situation ahead of time. I hope this helps!

Do I need a perscription for claritin d 24 hour? ## @big t, Even though the packaging says "prescription strength", Claritin-D 24 Hour is actually an OTC medication commonly found in many retail pharmacies and even places like Target, Walmart, etc; so you shouldn't have any reason to need a prescription for it in my opinion. However, if this is something that your doctor recommended for you, it may be wise to ask him/her any additional questions pertaining to its use. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Pseudoephedrine Details On a side note, filling out a prescription is your doctor's job (not the patient's) and it would be illegal for anyone else to try and put together a fake one. I hope this info helps!

Last night we switched my 16yo from Claritin to Xyzal - She woke up with more hives than normal. Should this start working right away for hives? Or does it take a while to build up in the system? ## Why was her medication switched? It should work within 15 to 20 minutes, just like the Claritin did. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Neither of these may work super effectively for hives. Were they prescribed by her doctor? What is she allergic to?
