I was on Zoloft for several years and it is the only time in my life I ever gained weight, even though my eating and activity habits did not change. Once I stopped taking it, the weight immediately dropped off. Hi, I am 48 years old. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar 2. I have been using Cipralex 10mg together wilth Wellbutrin. Since the last quarter of 2008 Cipralex was no longer available in SA. At the moment I am gaining weight and as I am short and do suffer from asthma and a heart defect, this is very uncomfortable. At the moment I'm living in Mali where there are no doctors available that who are specialised how to treat this situation. Any suggestions? Depression?? ## just was given cipralex to try for depression and anxiety - been on zoloft, effexor then prestiq - just wondered if anyone has had any good results ## I have been taking Lexam for approx 4 mths and found it to be far better than Zoloft or the mulitude of others I've been put on in the past. As I'm single I can't comment on any issues with Libido, something that it definitely affected by Zoloft, but I can say that it definitely makes it easier to get up each day. I sleep less (unlike when on Endep) and have more energy than before. I've had no issues with weight gain for once. If anything I've lost a little because I'm not gorging myself with comfort foods.
