Does anyone here have chronic muscle ache/pain, especially in legs? And have taken Lyrica for that pain? ## Lyrica will only help with some types of nerve pain. It is an anticonvulsant that works on the synapses and neural pathways in the brain. Thus, it really depends on what is causing such pain. If it is due to some muscular condition and not nerve damage, then it may not help. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight gain. Did your doctor prescribe this? ## Yes, was given samples to try but had to stop using b/c of side effects, i.e. dizzy, nerves. ## Yes

Hi, i have been reading through this site for a while and i found that a lot of people are having troubles because of FDA regulations for pain meds. Doctors are not willing to prescribe pain meds, even if you are a proved chronic pain patient. Having medical records is not a warranty neither to get a prescription for your medication so, what in the earth is people going to do? should people just die or be in pain forever. Some people may find a way to be out of pain without pain meds, but what about the others who dont. i think government should do anything else but putting restrictions and regulations. Please i would like those in pain to share your opinion with me. {edited for privacy}. i will gladdly take your solicition. God Bless America! ## I have been in mmt for 9 yrs. I'm wa...

I have been suffering due to severe lower back pain for years ( may be because of my over weight). Consulted several physio but its of no use. Finally I approached irehab for advice. And in return I got a good response too. Now I've been slowly recovering from my back issues. I still wanted to know if there is any other pain killer tablets available in the market for this kind of back problem particularly due to over weight. ## just lose the weight and see how much better you will feel, nothing is worse than pain and if losing weight instead of taking harsh medications would be of some relief this should be a no brainer!! trust me I have taken every pain medication known to man and if I had my choice I would rather change my diet and excercise if this was to be of some help. ## I ag...

What is better for nerve pain - Neurontin or Lyrica? I had surgery in both knees and an injection in my back. I also have osteoarthritis. ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? They have both been shown to be effective for some people, but the only way to see which one helps you is by trying one. They are both classified by the FDA as anticonvulsants that are approved to treat nerve pain and some mood disorders. Their typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Which one has your doctor recommended? ## Hi, Brenda; it may have taken me a while to come across your post but pregabalin (patent brand Pfizer LYRICA) is over twice the potency of gabapentin (Pfizer NEURONTIN). I personally can take neither - I was prescribed and titrated up to the m...

Because my primary care physician and hospital turned their backs on me for pain control. I currently use suboxone for pain control and cannot find another Doctor.

Hey guys, I've been on oxycontin 80's for 10 years, and the new ops reall suck, but instead of trying all these ways to break them down, try this, I promise on own life it works. Simply cut it into 4 or 5 pieces, take them on an empty stomach, and in 20 minutes you are pain free and aggravation free, and you havnt screwed up all your pills trying to find a way to do them. Sure it takes a little longer to get fully into your system like the instant from banging, but hey if youve been without for days and your sick whats another 15 minutes to wait ? The smaller the pieces the quicker it gets into your blood stream, and empty stomach cuts the time in half again. Trust me it works!! If it didnt I'd have put a gun to my head this morning, My script was filled with ops again this ...

I am truly concerned about all of the people who are chronic pain sufferers who are unable to find satisfactory treatment. Several years ago, after 20 years of taking all of the usual pain meds, I stumbled across the "Spinal Chord Stimulator" and the "Morphine Pain Pump". I have had a pain pump over a year now and it has truly changed my life. Of course, like every new pain treatment, they were only used on cancer patients, etc. But they are being used now for chronic pain sufferers who have a definable, (diagnosed by reputable Dr's) untreatable pain source. The company that manufactures these products is MEDTRONICS. I promise you I do not work for them and I am not being compensated for this. I just know what it is like to suffer debilitating pain. I also understand...

Does a small light green tablet with break line for 1/2 a dose imprinted A 214 help treat chronic pain? ## I have been looking for information regarding the connection with ptsd and chronic pain. I have been diagnosed with ptsd from a a car wreck that occured in march of 09. I substained several injuries. To mention four fractured ribs, a fractured collar bone and a possible fractured neck. I understand that I have had time for my injuries to heal but I am still experiencing severe pain, even in parts of my body that werent injured during the wreck. I have been told two totally opposite things about this. One is that I must have a severe/chronic injury such as spinal damage to experience chronic pain with ptsd. The other thing I have been told is that with ptsd you do not have to experi...

I'm in constant pain, can hardly sleep and the muscle spasms occurring more often elevating my pain level. Willing to travel within reason. ## Dr Machret or Dr Fallot. Both in Springfield Oh. I currently go for chronic back pain. You will have to have MRI though.

Been dealing with this chronic pain for 8 years. Five years ago after trying every cream, soaks, acid cream, non-narcotic pain medications, anti-depressants and surgery, I was prescribed Percocet 5-375. This provided me relief enough I could do "normal" things like go out to eat and a movie, trips up to 3 hours, wearing semi normal clothes. Then my doctor retired (Richmond va) and for 7 months I have been trying to find a doctor.......it's not going to happen. Now I am taking 1/2 of pill 3 times a day or 4 times if we have an invite for dinner (which is happening less and less). Is there any help? The only thing they (doctors) agree on is that I will probably have to live with the pain forever!!!!! Help has to be somewhere. This is a life altering condition. I considered mys...

How are you doing? Sorry about the pain you're in. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? That would most likely be the easiest way to get the help you need. Otherwise, it's hard for people to suggest doctors or clinics, since you didn't post your location. Can you please post back with more details, such as your general area? Thanks!

I've been on oxycontin 80s for yrs. A new pain mgmt doctor says I'm taking too much and has also refused to prescribe ativan 1mg 2 per day. I have been on a rollercoaster ride with meds being changed. I was given Zanaflex and Topamaze. Will these meds help me? Oxycontin dropped from 160mg 2xday, to 1 tab 3xday, no anxiety meds. Also changed Soma to Zanaflex. I didn't sleep much before this change, now not more than 2hrs a day. HELP!! A lot of yrs. of pain. I can't work anymore. I've raised a family, been a wife, raised Foster Children (My Children too). I love them all. I'm now a GrandMother that hasn't been there for her Grandbabies. I live in Jasper, Alabama and have been on methadone for 15 years. It's the only thing that's helped during my chemo or when my ruptured disc are bothering me. The doctor I had just up and left and left all his patients hunting a new doctor. Does anyone know a doctor in or around Jasper or Birmingham that I can see that writes Methadone? ## Really, your best bet is to see a new doctor and make sure they get your medical records, so they can speak for themselves. Asking a doctor to prescribe a specific medication is often seen as being drug seeking behavior. Does anyone else have any suggestions to offer? ## Yeah, I'd definitely move from the deep South as fast as possible. Sorry about the comment Florida sounds like your closest bet to find an outpatient treatment center for...
