What is the Normal Duration of The Chantix RX Smoking Cessasion Program? Can anyone tell me? ## Hi Connie, According to a number of various articles I've come across, the standard recommended duration of treatment is 12 weeks. If you're interested, there are also studies out there mentioning the long-term efficacy of this drug. You can view more details on this by following the link below (it's a pdf file): pharmalot.comFwp-content2Fuploads2F20082F062Fchantix-l-term-study.pdf I hope this helps! ## My doctor told me that the recommendation is 3 months, but she has read studies that show the success rate is much greater after 6 months. (something like 80% success) I've been on it for 10 weeks and love it! I have backed off to just 1 pill per day instead of 2 and that seems... ...

Hi,I used to smoke for 25 years. I tried many ways to stop it . I smoked 25-40 cig/day.I did not want to go to work and to friends and family in the past 12 months because I needed to smoke very much and nobody in my friend criss was smoking. 2 months ago I started Champix (the European version of Chantix). I stopped smoking. I have sometimes headache, vomiting feeling, stomach pain, weird dreams, insomnia and last month no menstruationand and etc but I am happy I am not dependent anymore. In the same time I do not need coffee any more .I guess many bad habits disappeared. Sometimes when I get angry I feel I better go to have a cigarette but, this feeling is after a minute over. Will expired Chantix still work?
5 Replies RSS
My chantix prescription has expired, is it still effective? I would like to try to quit smoking again without the cost that's involved. If its still good? ## Unfortunately the sell by date with meds is important depending on how its stored after the expiration date its less effective but if stored under the correct temperatures it can last much longer. Humidity & heat tends to effect the meds. ## Tina, what's the expiration date listed on the prescription? Certain meds should not be taken past the expiration date but I don't know if Chantix is one of them. I can try to find more from the FDA on that, but first it would be helpful to know how long past the expiration date your meds are. ## Yep I have no problem taking expired meds as long as I know exactly where they'... ...

My boyfriend of 2 years started took Chantix for 6 weeks but has been off it for 2 weeks now. I asked him to quit because in that 6 weeks he slowly became detached and cold towards me and it turned into almost hatred. He wants to leave our beautiful horse farm to go live in an apartment. We had an amazing relationship and wrete planning on marriage soon until Chantix got in his system. I have over a 100 almost exact stories like mine from the effects of Chantix. Has anyone experienced this and does your loved one ever come back and snap out of this depression? I'm afraid he will never see what this stuff has done. Is there hope? ## Hello, Sasha! Rare success story with Chantix?
1 Reply RSS
Early this year, in January, I went to my doctor to check on my elbow (I have "tennis elbow"). During our niceties before leaving, he asked me if I needed anything else. I said yes, please write me a prescription for Chantix. I want to quit smoking. (I smoked for almost 30 years). This was the first time I recalled, really wanting to quit. I thought about it in the past but heard way too many stories of bad experiences while taking Chantix; some from folks I work with. My doctor wrote out a presciption for the first round (4 weeks worth) and the second round maintenance month (another 4 weeks). I went straight to CVS to get the prescription filled. I went home, broke the news to my husband (he smokes too) and started the pills the next day. I'm not sure why it worked for me,... ...

can you take chantix every 8 hours
1 Reply RSS
Will it hurt me if I take chantix every 8 hours? I work 12 hour shifts at night. ## You should take it in compliance with your doctor's dosing instructions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. If you're taking it twice daily, that still fits around your 12 hour work shift, you could take a dose right before you go to work and the other one, when you clock out. problems after quitting chantix

Hi I have been smoke free for 4 months. I quit taking chantix 2 weeks ago but started having problems before that when I began to wean off it. I started developing anxiety and a constant sensation of brain freeze like eating something cold and the stabbing headach that goes with it. After quitting the chantix I went 4 days without sleep and a constant migraine and bouts of uncontrollable crying. I went to the doc who put me on lorazepam. That helped somewhat but knowing it was only a temporary fix I asked for something I could take longer for the anxiety attacks. was put on Buspar. that made me so dizzy that I thought I would pass out and increased the anxiety. I am still not sleeping. Does anyone know how long these side effects will last or any suggestions what I can do? ## Has your d... ...

I would like to know symptoms and side effects of taking Chantix with the HIV medicine Atripla; both have a lot of psychological side effect warnings and I want to know if it's worth the risk to take both of these together or not... ## I do not know the effects of taking these drugs together. However, I can tell you 1st hand that Chantix -in myself and 2 others I know personally- was a Rx for personal and friendship relationship disasters. IMO they should change the name to "Antix" b/c of the way it will turn a loving individual into a unreasonable hateful being. Chantix success- very grateful woman
Post a Reply
I am a very grateful 43 year young woman. I quit smoking for the 1st time after smoking for 24 years. I was having an elective surgery and my surgeon said I had to quit 14 days before my procedure. Which I ended up quitting 12 days before. He nicotine tested me the day of my procedure to be sure I hadn't smoked. I let him know it had only been 12 days, and I was able to have my procedure! I began taking Chantix on 3/27/08 and by the next morning they already tasted bad. I had my last cigarette at 7am on 3/30/08. I took Chantix for 30 days and have never craved or smoked again. It's been 7 years and 8 months. When I think back its hard to imagine ever smoking. Which my seem crazy since I smoked over half my life. will stress cause chantix not to work?
1 Reply RSS
I started Chantix a week ago and still have the same urge to smoke the same amount and it doesn't taste different or anything. I am under an extreme amount of stress which makes me crave my nicotine so could that be causing the Chantix not to work? Ive taken Chantix before and within a few days cigarettes started tasting funny to me and within like a week and a half I was done and I quit for almost a year. This time completely not even working, WHY? ## Hello, Shannen! How are you? It could be the extra stress or you may have just become tolerant to the Chantix, since you've taken it before. Instructions said you could keep smoking so I did and kept waiting for that bolt of lightning. In two I doubled up to bout 2 packs day, gave up the pill, and quit trying to quit. Those cigis were much then and eventually I got to three packs. Early 2013 I cold turkey quit. Chantix didn't win any points. ## Hello, Woodyj! How are you? I'm very sorry that you didn't have good results with it. However, many people do, it's really helped a lot of smokers to quit. Though, you aren't supposed to just keep smoking. You can for awhile, but you are supposed to set a quit date, many times after a week of being on it. Typical side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, headache, depression and weight changes. How are you doing, since stopping cold turkey? Do ... ...
