 Chantix Varenicline
Varenicline (trade name Chantix and Champix), is a prescription medication used to treat nicotine addiction. Varenicline is a nicotinic receptor partial agonist—it stimulates nicotine receptors more weakly than nicotine itself does. In this respect it is similar to cytisine and different from the nicotinic antagonist bupropion and nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) like nicotine patches and nicotine gum. As a partial agonist it both reduces cravings for and decreases the pleasurable ...

AFTER STARTING CHANTIX IN A FEW WKS I STARTED DREAMING ABOUT AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED 40 YRS AGO AND DREAM OFTEN ABOUT IT ## A common side effect while taking Chantix is abnormal dreaming, along with headaches and difficulty sleeping. To learn more about this drug click on the link below... Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## Hi I just started Champex and have been smoke free for 11 days. I've had some pretty vivid dreams too, but if you take it around supper, maybe they won't be as disturbing. I hear repetitive dreams can give you a lot of insight about yourself. Perhaps what happened 40 yrs ago is connected to when you started smoking. But take heart you've quit smoking and now that you don't have that monkey on your ba... ...

I am on my third day of chantix. I am still smoking, my quit day is 4 days away. but I must say I am amazed so far. yesterday cigarettes started tasting very dry and nasty. and I don't think about smoking as .much a I used to. I drive for a living so I will sit in my truck and smoke like two packs a day easily. I have asthma and when I smoke I have to take at least to breathing treatments per day. I am excited and looking forward to a morning when I don't have to get up early for work so that I can take my treatment. so far my side effects are minor. a little headache and nausea for about and hour or two after taking pill, and tingling numbness in my left arm when I wake up. but its totally worth it if there's a chance I will quit smoking next week. good luck to everyone who... ...

About 6 months ago I finally decided to try the prescription of chantix that I recieved before all of the warnings after I started taking it I quickly started having depression and violent out breaks also suicidal tendencys. I stopped taking the medication but the side effects are still with me, at this time I don't have insurance and can't afford to get help. Only recently I noticed that the prescription was expired along time ago, until I startex having problems I had no idea what was going on with all the cases by other people for the same problems I'm having now I see that they have settled with every one does that mean I can't make them resposible for my medical bills that are going to come from trying to repair the damage their pills have caused me? Chantix Day 4
3 Replies RSS
Started my fourth day today. Took pill 1 of 2 this morning, will dose a second time this evening with my meal. The medicine makes me feel quiet, and somewhat moody but nothing I can't work through. My natural tendency today is to isolate. I don't really feel like being sociable, though I wi be anyway just to try and fight against it (if indeed those symptoms are due to the Chantix). I already notice a considerable difference in taste and smell. The best way to describe it is I now "notice" myself smoking the cigarette. It becomes less desirable, though I do still have cravings as I'm a pack-a-day smoker. I have had a mood swing or two at work, but that could just be that I work in a crazy environment. I don't want to fall victim to self fulfilling prophecy, meani... ...

I've been taking chantix for 6 weeks now. My quit date was on the 17th but I ran out of cigarettes on the 12th so I said to my self... today is a good day to quit... That was a month ago. Only side effects I got was the dreams, although I was not as happy as I usually am but my husband says that just means your like a normal person now...haha very funny. I am so happy that I am a non smoker when I read people quit after 2 weeks that scared me cause I didnt think it would work. But it did!! Little bit of nausea but its worth it not to smell anymore and to breath again. It says to take for 3 months and that is what im going to do... Thank so much Chantix ## Hello, Loni! How are you? I talked to my doctor about wanting to quit smoking and he prescribed Chantix, I will start in about 3 days. Can someone please be honest and tell me what I am about to start going through? I am a stay at home mom of a 3 year old, my husband is only home 1-2 days a week and I have heard this will be a mistake for me to take and that I will have horrible dreams, suicidal thoughts, ad much worst. Can someone tell me if me taking Chantix is a bad idea? I have not heard of many people who have not had bad results and hope this will have different answers. Thank you! ## I have been on chantix for a coupl of months now. I have been a smoker for twenty plus yrs. I had a few weird dreams. No nightmares. I think everyone is different. does anyone know if you can use nicotine patches while taking chantix ## Well they say you can still smoke while you are on it, because while it acts like nicotine does in the body, it doesn't have nicotine in it, so I would not see why the patches would cause a problem either, and there are no warnings not to do so, or of any adverse reactions in the monograph. ## I was advised by my doctor to not use the patch while on chantix. I have been using the drug now for a month and have had great sucess in stopping. The drug takes away the jitters that I had in past times of trying to stop. The patch will only make it harder to stop and can cause nausia just like the pill that is given to those that are alcoholics. I did not use any nicotine stop smoking aid this time. ## You should not u... ...

Chantix does work--But it would be nice if someone had told me the terrible side effects that can happen. Side effects that a person must live with for the rest of their lives. RLS is a terrible side effect that does NOT go away after you stop taking Chantix. It effects every moment of of your life waking and sleeping! I'm not saying no one should use Chantix but if I had known the serious side effects that can be life altering I don't think I would have taken that risk. It is my 3rd day with no sleep due to RLS. I lost my job of 20 years, because I can't function on 3-4 hours of sleep in 48 hours. I just think people need to know what they may be risking before they decide to start Chantix thats all. ## Be aware people - I am fairly young and all of a sudden I developed thi... ...

Has anyone experienced suicidal ideation and assault while taking Chantix/Champix ## It is known to cause these problems with some people that take it, thought it is very rare. It is an antidepressant, the active ingredient is Varenicline and most of them are known to cause the opposite of their intended effects in a very small number of people that use them. I read in a truckers magazine article last month that taking Chantix and driving commercially don't mix and the FMCSA has issued an order to suspend all people from driving while on this medication. It also said that it caused homicidal idealation and suicide in some people. Chantix numbness

After taking Chantix only three days, I began developing numbness in my calf and foot and achiness in my hip. I immediately stopped taking Chantix, but eight months later, the pain is just starting to subside and the numbness is lessening, but still in my toes. If this is what happens after only three days of Chantix, I feel horrible for the people who took it for a longer period of time and are still in agony. I still smoke, but will try other cessation methods before ever using Chantix again. It is not worth the risk. ## Saw your post and I have PAD. That is a disease that affects you in your legs especially because you are a smoker. The symptoms are numbness, hip pain, trouble walking long distances without a rest, tingling, etc. Just check it out with your doctor. And finally about ... ...

I am on day 13 of Chantix and have seen no results. Is this normal or should I consider that it is not working for me and give it up? I can't deal with the nausea if it is not going to work. ## It may take 4 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of efficacy in the body. The FDA lists its typical side effects as also including dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. Has there been any change? What has your doctor advised? ## Go read the other forums about chantix here. I took it in 2011 and have permanent brain damage from it- no pleasure from smoking but also no pleasure from ANYTHING ELSE. complete anhedonia followed by suicidal thoughts and no Dr. Or medication has helped. Done with Chantix

I successfully did a month of Chantix thanks to the overwhelming support of my concerned girlfriend, friends and family. My lovely sweetheart told me she was less concerned about "kissing an ashtray" than just being able to having me around for a long time. This is my second time on Chantix. The first time I quit smoking for 7 months and I resumed after smoking just 1 cigarette, thinking I had it "under control". One month's worth this time: the insomnia was bad, the dreams were vivid, and my stomach hurt. Heightened road rage seems to be my constant companion now, but then I live in an area of concentrated rush hours over bridges and thru tunnels! Nothing can help that! Good luck to all. ## Hi Scott, Thanks a lot for sharing your experience on this medication! It se... ...

I started taking Chantix on Dec. 02, 2007. So this is my second week on the Chantix. I haven't had real bad side effects. I have had an upset stomach and diarrhea, but like someone else said, I'm not sure it's related to the Chantix. I thought maybe I caught a flu bug. Anyhow, I wanted to ask you all if it's normal that I still have the craving for wanting a cigarrette. I thought for sure that it would've subsided somewhat, but it's still there. I noticed longer periods of time in between wanting one, but I still want one. :( If there is any advice anyone can offer, I would greatly appreciate it! ## I started taking this pill 2 weeks ago, about one week into it I started feeling side effects of nausiated stomach, to the point of not wanting to eat as I was concer... ...
