I started taking the extended release carb/levo at night a couple days ago. I am wondering how long until it takes effect. I have dystonia and I want the symptoms to stop. I used to take immediate release, but it made me nauseous. I am also wondering if I start taking it in the morning would my symptoms reduce at a quicker rate? Will it make me nauseous? ## Hi Lettie, It is important to note that all medications (especially these prescription ones) can effect each individual differently, so I or anyone else would be unable to answer that specific question, regarding whether or not it will reduce your symptoms at a quicker rate or if it will make you feel nauseous. Unfortunately the only way to know is to actually try it. I did locate some dosage and administration information that may b...

my insurance ran out and I am on disability now how can I get help with my carbo levo script it is expensive ## For many medications there are coupons that are supplied by your doctor or pharmacy, when they receive them from the drug representatives. I would suggest contacting your local pharmacy first to see if they have any for this drug. Another thing you can do is search on google for various coupon sites. I've seen at least a handful of them by typing in "prescription drug coupons". Other than that I personally don't know of other methods to save money on this medication. There may be some sort of support group(s) online that helps needy people get their prescriptions for next to nothing; but I have only heard this and have not yet verified it. Are there certain foods I should not take with carbo-levo? Should I take it with meals? ## From what I've read, the combination of Carbidopa + Levodopa can be administered with food to reduce the likelihood of nausea; however, it should be noted that using multivitamins or minerals together with levodopa may decrease the effects of your medication. Additionally, a high-protein diet may also reduce its absorption and overall efficacy. That said, it might be best to take this medication by itself or in between meals, to help avoid any chance of it not working as effectively as it should. Take Carbolevo with what products? ## Hi Alex, Based on my research, Carbidopa/Levodopa should be taken by mouth, usually 3 to 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. If you have been taking Levodopa without any Carbidopa and are taking this combination for the first time, wait at least 12 hours after your last dose of Levodopa before taking the them together. Carbidopa/Levidopa can be taken with a light snack to help decrease nausea, however you should refrain from taking it with high-protein snacks because they may prevent absorption. If you take any supplements that contain iron, be sure to take them hours before/after your dose because Iron can reduce the amount of Carbidopa and Levodopa available to the body.
