My wife has liver and pancreatic cancer. She has pain in her stomach as well as indigestion. Will Vicodin work better than Tylenol or is there something better? ## Hello, Kip! How are you and your wife? I'm sorry that she's in so much pain. The Vicodin is actually stronger, so if her doctors has prescribed it, she may want to try it, instead. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, there are also many other medications that she could try, such as Oxycodone, Opana and Dilaudid. All of which she could ask her doctor about. They carry the same risk and cause most of the same side effects as what I've already listed. NIH lists these, as well a... ...

V.A. sent me hydrocodone 5mg/acetaminophen 325mg. It has red dots all over, with # 3202 on one side, and Watson on the other side. So, is this really hydrocodone, 5, with acetaminophen 325 mg ? My levels came back high for hydrocodone, on blood test, but Rx said " no more than 8 in a 24 hour period, and I have never taken more than that, in 24 hour period. I might have taken one the morning of the test, not sure. Did I cause this error in blood test myself? Thanks DIANE ## Hello, Diane! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've had. Yes, this tablet is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals and they do list it as containing 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. How high were your levels on the test? Tramadol, Tylenol 3 and Vicodin

I am currently on what my doctor calls a "pain management" plan since nothing else has worked. I take Vicodin 7.5/325 which right now is to be my at-home-pain-reliever. I was prescribed tramadol 50mg previously to take during the day and it was awesome! No pain, alert and able to work. But good feelings faded and became nothing. Now my doc had me on the same Vicodin. And I take Tramadol 50mg. (1-2 every six hours as needed, max 6 per day - Same as Vicodin) and Tylenol 3 (300/30mg) 1-2 twice daily. I already don't feel anything with this tramadol t3 combo. What is a good substitute I can take during the day? Maybe not even take before driving (1.5 hour commute - part of the issue lol) but maybe take eight after my commute is done and my shift is about to start. Don't wann... ...

Taking opana ER 5 mg and 5 mg opana for breakthrough is not really helping. Can I take tylenol as well? ## They can be taken together, unless you've been instructed not to mix them. The FDA warns that these medications may carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications? What medical condition is being treated? ## Opana is now being taken off the market. As of Sept 1 2017. I myself have been on opana for 6 years for pain and IR for breakthrough. So Idk what we are going to do now to answer your question though yes when first prescribed opana was also prescribed Vicodin for breakthrough. ...

I have an abscessed tooth, and my dentist prescribed me vicodin 5/300. Every 4-6 hrs as needed. If one doesnt do the trick do you think it would be safe to take 1 and a 1/2 to 2 every 4-6 hrs as needed? ## It should be fine. Your tooth should stop hurting in 2-3 days and you'll have left overs anyways. Don't take more than you need though or we will see you back on here asking how to kick opiate addiction. Seriously though, the 5='s 5miligrams of the narcotics part of the pill and 10 won't hurt you any. also, take it just before the pain starts as you wouldn't want to wait for the pain to start and have to wait for the meds to kick in 45 minutes later. ## Vicodin 5/300 is a low dose of narcotic plus 300mg of Tylenol. I'm taking tynelol #4 with codeine now. Is there a tynelol 5 or 6 with codeine available? I need more relief. ## Hello, Oreo! How are you? No, the maximum dose available is the one you are currently taking. However, there are other pain medications available that are stronger, such as Vicodin and Percocet, so you may want to inform your doctor, so you can explore your other options. mixing vicodin with alcohol
5 Replies RSS
I take 10 mg hydrocodone daily. I binge drank Saturday night and have been sick in bed with a tremendous hangover for 3 days. Anyone else experienced this? ## Well, mixing alcohol with prescription drugs is NEVER a good idea, it can enhance the side effects and cause exactly what you're experiencing, especially with a narcotic such as Hydrocodone. It is possibly it's been caused by something else, but highly doubtful. Have you tried consulting your doctor? ## Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol). Some people take Vicodin and drink alcohol to intensify the effect of the hydrocodone. Unfortunately, mixing alcohol and acetaminephin WILL lead to liver damage and eventual liver failure (cirrhosis), which is often fatal. There are warnings on Tylenol or ... ...

white w/ one side a ''p w/ a triangle above it'', and on the other side it says ''014'' ## Is this vicodin, or a generic equivalent? ## NO, THIS IS NOT VICODIN! That logo is actually supposed to be an AP, and this is nothing more than Acetaminophen 500mgs, a generic or store brand of Extra Strength Tylenol. Just because a pill has a V or something that looks like it on there, does not mean it is Vicodin. The imprint does not have anything to do with the ingredients, it is just the drug company logo. ## I found a pill that my husband got from his sister for his knee pain but not sure what it is, it is white & oval with a triangle without the line at the bottom to close the triangle & a P between the center of the triangle is is somewhat flat with a... ...

I was given Tylenol #5 after I broke my nose... Immediately afterwards they became Vicodin, etc.. My housemate is an old nurse and I'm tired of her always insisting that she knows everything!!! There's got to be a place to look this up!!! ## Not that I am aware of, nor could I find anything about them on current FDA or NIH listings. What are the markings on the pills in question? This information would enable me to research them to see what they contain. Can you please post back and clarify? The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. ## As far as I can tell, there's only Tylenol # 3 and # 4, listed here. anyone else taking generic tylenol 4 made by teva? my pharmacy just switched brands and taking ONE feels like i'm taking FOUR. but that's only every third pill... they dont feel consistent but regardless they feel WAYYYY over the regular strength of codeine. it feels like i'm taking codiene and vicodin at the same timme and i hate it. ## Is there any chance that the times when it seems to hit stronger are also times where you might have eaten less, or not eaten anything yet? If so, that could explain the inconsistency right there. It could even happen if you took one with a big breakfast, since the food would prevent it from hitting your body as fast and then took the next one with or just after a light lunch, since there isn't as much food and it the medication would re... ...
