Im wondering why I would be able to take darvacett & percocetts but I cant take vicodin. Arent theese medications all the same? Would the fact that I have a codeine allergy make a difference? Thanks. ## They are all opiate medications, but not all the same. Darvocet, which is no longer available contained Acetaminophen and Propoxyphene, Percocet contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, while Vicodin contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen. What problem do you experience, when you take Vicodin? Some work better for some people than others and some do cause more or worse side effects in some people, it really just depends on your body chemistry. That's why there are usually several options available in any given therapeutic category. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic an... ...

I have been on percocet 10/325. My little two new generation pharmacy has been closed since Thursday due to the holiday I am out of percocet can i take my hydrocodone 10/325 until late I can get my prococet? Is this safe? ## Hello, Patty! How are you? Have you obtained your medication, now? For future reference, you can do that, if your doctor approves, but you should be aware that the Oxycodone in the Percocet is stronger than the Hydrocodone, so you may not get as much pain relief. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ...

I'm trying to find out if hydrocodone 5/325 is the same thing as percocet? ## Hello, Donny! How are you? No, Percocet contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. So they are both opiates, but different. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

Have been taking pain meds for 8 years due to terrible back. Have had 4 back surgeries with 3 of them since 2014, the last one was August 2016 which was spinal fusion L4/5 with screws, plate, rod and pins! Also suffer from fibromyalgia which is bad this time of year. I have been taking percocets 10mg x 6 daily since last surgery. Last week switched from pain management to primary physician due to cost and drive an hour away. Am now been switched to hydrocodone 10mg 4 x a day and tramadol 50mg 2 x a day. I miserable pain has increased? Having leg aches, body aches and seems pain gets worse an hour after taking hydrocodone. Is this crazy? I can't live like this. Going from hydrocodone to percocet

My husband's pain management doctor is wanting to switch him to percocet. He is currently taking hydrocodone 10mg 7x/day. What will that equal out to in percocet? ## Hi Wendy - it looks like your husband will be switching opiate medications since Percocet contains Oxycodone instead of Hydrocodone. Overall it is a stronger medication. According to an Equianalgesic chart, Oxycodone is about 33% stronger than Hydrocodone. So approximately 6.67 mg of Oxycodone is equal in strength to 10 mg of Hydrocodone. My question for you is would you happen to know which version of Percocet he is being prescribed? For example, it can be prescribed in doses containing 5, 7.5, or 10 mg of Oxycodone. So depending on which dosage your husband is being prescribed you can kind of get an idea of how strong... ...

I take Lortab 10's, Fentanyl 100mg patch every 3 days and Ibuprofen. I stay in constant pain and wanted to know what I could switch to that would be stronger and help with my constant pain. I've been on all 3 medicines and alot of other medicine (not pain medicine) for over 3yrs. ## Yes, it only takes 6.67mgs of Oxycodone to equal each 10mgs of Hydrocodone, so the Percocet would be stronger. Learn more Percocet details here. Oxycodone is also available by itself, without the Acetaminophen, in a regular release formulation, so you also may want to ask your doctor about that. It is another narcotic opiate, so it also has the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I was taking 5-6 10/325 percocet a day and my new dr gave me 90 1 3xs a day but I'm having trouble so was taking a percocet then 4 hrs later a norco and alternating like that today. Is it safe to take a percocet then a norco until the withdrawal gets better? ## Hello, Sherryl! How are you? The main concern here is the amount of Acetaminophen you are ingesting each day, more than the opiates, as hard as that may be to believe. In theory, you should still be within limits, which the FDA lists as being 3,000mgs a day, but it is always best to extra careful and not do this, unless your doctor approves. What type of withdrawal symptoms are you experiencing? The NIH lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound pain, anxiety, depression, and diarrhea. ...

Hi. My doctor just changed me from oxycodone 7.5/325 to hydrocodone 10/325. Is it safe to start taking the hydrocodone 6 hours after taking Percocet 7.5/325? ## Usually, you can switch cleanly from one to the other, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise. For example, if they directed you to take them every 8 hours, then that is what you should do. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. What instructions did they provide? Are you on any other medications? ...

Will switching to Percocet from lot tabs cause any withdrawal symptoms? ## Hello, Cat! How are you? In theory, it shouldn't, because the Oxycodone in Percocet is stronger than the Hydrocodone. However, the doses will matter, can you please post back with them? For example, for each 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone you were taking, you'd need 5mgs of Oxycodone to be equivalent. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ...
