Can you take Percocet 5/325 one every two hours rather than two every four hours so the pain relief stays consistent? Had surgery two days ago. ## Hello, Joesphine! How are you? I don't see why there should be a problem, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hey Joe, hope u r feeling better. Be careful on the Tylenol in that. It's 325mg per pill & u cannot exceed 4000 mg in a 24 hour period. If u do , You can have Permanent liver damage. Also if Your pain Continues notify your doctor you may be developing an infection and require a...

My mother is 74 yrs old. Had rotator cuff surgery 4 days ago. Had to take her to the ER on day two. There they gave her an IM Dilaudid shot and sent her home. Called the doctor on call the next day and ask if they could admit her for pain management, he proceeded to tell me that the insurance would not pay for it. Post-op surgery they gave her Percocet 7.5/325 1-2 every 4-6 hours for pain. To make a long story short. Two was too strong so she had the 5-325 and took two every four hours and that would help her pain level which would be tolerable at 5. This is 3900mg of tylenol. Too much in only 24 hours. So this is why I am asking if you can take the Percocet 7.5/325 every 3 hours? ## Hello, Debbie! How is your mom doing? Since this is a narcotic, the FDA warns that it carries the risk o...

I shattered my ankle and broke and shattered my tibia. I had surgery about 3 weeks ago. Sometimes during the day my pain is worse and the pain starts to rage about an hour and a half to 2 hours later. In those instances would it be safe to take one more Percocet? It is not all the time. My doctor did say I could take 2 tablets every 4 hours but I don't feel like I need that much and I'm a little scared to take 2 at one time. ## Hello, Morgan! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. You can take it that way, as long as your doctor approves. However, you may want to try taking two at once, since it won't be much different from taking another a couple hours later, but it may prevent that severe pain from setting in. The FDA classifies this medication as a na...

I took a percocet 10-325 at 9 pm it's now 12:45 am and was wondering if I had to wait full 6 hours or can I take another ## Hello, Crystal! How are you? The Oxycodone in Percocet can be habit forming and, if you take it more frequently than as prescribed, you also run the risk of overdose, especially due to the Acetaminophen in it. Thus, it would be best to not change your dosing frequency, without your doctor's approval. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm having terrible pain with kidney stones. I have melanoma cancer and a horrific case of shingles. I have been prescribed oxycodone 10/325 1 every four hours. In addition I am treated at the spine and pain center for spinal stenous and osteoporosis. I need to try same dosage every three hours to control my pain because I really struggle that fourth hour with lots of pain. Would that cause a problem? I am male in my middle 70's. ## It would be best not to adjust your dosage, without your doctor's approval. It could create the risk of overdose and/or you may run out early, which may make your doctor think you have an addiction problem, so they might stop prescribing. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness,...

I have 2 busted ear drums and stints put in because they are so swollen the drops fall out. The doctor has me on 1 oxycodone 5 - 325 every 6 hours but I get no relief. I've taken 2 of the 7.5 -500 mg and had relief but he gave me the wrong dose this time around and gave me 5. I was just wondering if I could take 2 every 4 to 6 hours when or if needed and be ok. My label says ok but still was asking. Thanks ## Hello, Katt! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. If the doctor has prescribed it that way, then there shouldn't be a problem, as long as you don't exceed the recommend daily limit of 3,000mgs of the Acetaminophen. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such ...

I was wondering how many 2.5 mg 325 oxycodone can I take at one time? I normally use 30-50mg a time each day to maintain my pain. ## Hi Connie, Based on my research, the usual adult dosage for Percocet 2.5/325 is one or two tablets every 6 hours- the maximum daily dose is 12 tablets. The daily dose of acetaminophen should not exceed 4 grams. Be sure to only take the amount that has been prescribed to you by a doctor. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Percocet Details I hope this helps to answer your question!

I was told to take one table twice a day. when is the brst time of day to take these? ## Timing is going to be different for everyone based on their specific dosing schedule and number of pills taken; but it seems as though the best approach for 24hr around-the-clock pain relief would be to take one in the morning and one in the evening. However, the usual adult dosage for this medication is one tablet every 6 hours as needed for pain. I hope this helps!

I am 80 years old and use oxycodone very sparingly for neuropathy. To help prevent possible dependency I usually take one 5mg oxycodone about four hours apart. I weigh 210 pounds and my prescription allows two 5mg pills every six hours, but that dose clouds my thinking even though it does manage pain better. I usually get by with taking one 5mg oxycodone pill no more than three times each day beginning from about 10am. Getting up each morning is the most difficult; If I take two 325mg Butalbital tablets upon arising I seem to get a little boost, so that I can function enough to get going without too much discomfort. I don't start taking Oxycodone until after breakfast, at least two to three hours after getting up. Only on a rare occasion, where I must be very active through the day ...

Hi, I've never looked for help on the internet regarding my medication, but I'm at a loss. I'm a 46-year-old, healthy, strong and fit female. Three years ago I was pushed from the top of a 4-story building, falling 80 feet. Subsequently, I still suffer from severe, chronic back pain. I take Oxycodone 10/325 every 4 to 6 hours to help manage my pain. When I last filled my prescription, 3 days ago, I noted that I am getting zero relief. I never take more than one pill in a four hour period. But that first day I took 4 pills within 6 hours and still didn't have relief. I called the pharmacy to see if the manufacturer had changed and she informed me that it had not. In fact I looked at the pills and they looked identical to the pills I got the month before. I don't think...

I take 60mg of Morphine 3x daily + 10/325 mg Oxycodone/Acetaminophen daily. My cancer is getting worse. Any ideas? ## Hello, Chuck! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry that your cancer isn't improving. Many cancer patients end up requiring a very potent narcotic, such as Fentanyl. It's available in a patch that you wear on your skin and change every 48 to 72 hours, so that may be something to discuss with your doctor. It was actually specifically created to help cancer patients. I am disabled with lupus and PAC. I was taking oxycodone 10-325 one 4x a day with excellent results. My pain mgmt dr changed me to oxymorphone er 10mg with oxycodone one 2x day for breakthrough. I am having constant pain and have been on oxymorphone for two days. How long until it takes effect? I'm miserable. ## What is the current dose you are taking of the Oxycodone? You may not be on an equivalent dosage, there is also a chance that the Opana just doesn't work for you. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

My Dr, has me taking percocet every 4 hours it doens't help that much I have arthritis had 2 hip replacements but still have so much pain. I see my Dr. next week just wanted a second opinion. Thank you kindly. Jeanne ## This tablet contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen and if you're taking them every 4 hours, then you are taking 60mgs of the Oxycodone and 1,950 of the Acetaminophen in a day, which isn't necessarily a dangerous dosage of either one. What you really have to watch for is the effects it has on you and if it seems to be too much for you. Monitor your side effects, which may include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and drowsiness and if they are very severe, then you'll know if this amount is too much for you to take. I HAVE OA AND need both knees and right hip replaced, I also have bone infarcts in both legs and in 2003 had a car accident that broke my neck c5,c6 &c7 along with damaging L5 -S1 disc herniation effacing the right S1 nerve root. my sciatic nerve is pinched and the pain is indescribable. I tore my ACL,PCL & MCL in my left knee in 2008 and had surgery to repair it. in October of 2013 I tore my PCL,MCL,ACL & LCL in my right knee the doctors did not repair any of this.i was on 1 - 2 10- 325 oxycodone acetaminophen every 6 hours for approximately 3 years and it did a decent job controlling my pain and all of a sudden in the beginning of November my doctor cut my dose in half without telling me why.. unfortunately it wasn't making my pain tolerable and when I asked her why sh...

Running out of the 5mg oxycodone the Dr. prescribed me 15mg every 3 hours. Now I do have 10/325mg percocet for my damaged back and the 15mg oxycodone was for my urinary tract relocation surgery which I had less than a week ago. My question is, can I take one 5mg oxycodone and one 10mg oxycodone with 325mg Tylenol to help with pain and not overdose? ## In general, that should be safe, but it depends on your overall health, other medications you may be taking, and etc. Have you contacted your doctor to ask what they feel you should do? The FDA warns that Oxycodone carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Oxycodone Information

I was wondering how many 2.5 mg 325 oxycodone can I take at one time? I normally use 30-50mg a time each day to maintain my pain. ## Hi Connie, With regards to dosage, it's not really the oxycodone that I question, but rather the acetaminophen; depending on how many you intend on taking. The general dosing guidelines state that a recommended dose of acetaminophen is: 325 to 650 mg every 4 to 6 hours or 1000 mg every 6 to 8 hours. I suppose if you could manage your pain under those guidelines, then in my opinion you should be fine taking "5mg/650mg" every 4 to 6 hours to remain within safe limits. However, if you're used to taking 30-50mg of oxycodone, I doubt this combination would be nearly as potent. Are you just not able to get your scripts filled for those higher dos...

Amneal's oxycodone, generic for percocet 10/325 is white, oblong, blank on one side, and imprinted with IP 204 (not IP 203)! I usually take Watson or Mallinckrodt, 10/325, (2) tablets every 4-6 hours (240 monthly), but I was given Amneal today when filling my script, and I am not happy! I have cancer, and I also take morphine sulphate 30 mgs as well (1 every 12 hours), and Fioricet with Codeine for severe migraines (as needed)! I do not feel Amneal is sufficient or even close to the chemical makeup as Watson or Mallinckrodt for controlling pain/chronic pain! Amneal does not act the same way on my body, and I should not have to take more for same result! I think when you pay cash for your medications, and have been on the medication for 8 years, using the same pharmacy, they should o...

How long does feeling last he took one and 5 325 oxcodone his arms here but the not the feel he took at 6pm ## Hi Connie, It's a little difficult to understand the entirety of your post due to grammatical errors, but immediate release oxycodone has an estimated half-life of 4 hours - At which point only 2.5mg out of the 5mg would still be active. I believe this is why typical adult dosing charts suggest taking 1 tablet every 4-6 hours as needed for around the clock pain relief. 5mgs is also the smallest available dosage of oxycodone (at least to my knowledge) - So you could always talk with your doctor about going up to 7.5mg or 10mg if the 5mg isn't sufficient. I hope this helps!

No more 4000mgs of Tylenol in 24 hrs. ## @Dalejrfan, Although only a doctor can legally advise you on what/how much of something you should take, the general adult dosing guidelines for Norco usually recommend 1 tablet every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. I would just encourage you to contact your local pharmacist to verify dosing instructions first. I...
