Can I Take Morphine On Suboxone

I have been using 1 mg of suboxone once in the late morning for the past 3-4 days while waiting for a refill on my 30mg morphine tabs. I took a dose of the suboxone around 10:38 this morning, so the question is: will I be okay to take a dose of my morphine around 6:30 this evening? It will have been about 8 hours. ## Hello, Sasha! How are you? I will still take several days for the Suboxone to release from your opiate receptors, so you'll need to give it about 3 days, before the Morphine will be able to have any effect. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have taken morphine 25 mg. I am on a suboxone program and I have to dose tomorrow. My dose is 16 milligrams. I take my suboxone orally but I took the morphine intravenously - are there any drug interactions? ## It depends, was the morphine a one time thing or have you been taking it more? You usually want to wait until you are feeling active withdrawal symptoms from the morphine BEFORE you take the suboxone or you can have precipitated withdrawal symptoms which are FAR Worse.

I don't take suboxone on a regular basis. I took a quarter dose of suboxone today. When can i take my other pain medication? ## You'll need to wait about 72 hours, otherwise the Suboxone will just block the effect of the Morphine. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Does that count if you have been taking it for u months too? Been in subutex for 7 months for pain management and I can't afford it so I'm going back to my percocet 7.5s. Any advice verwon? It cost me about 500 a month for my subs. And my percocets were 4 dollars a month. I'm getting surgery in November...

I take suboxone 12/3 mg once a day. Can I take one 100 mg morphine sulphate with it once a day? ## Hi Rob, According to umm.edu, suboxone shouldn't be taken with any opioids (i.e. morphine), since it can block its effects and potentially send you into immediate withdrawals - accompanied by a number of undesirable side effects such as increased anxiety, insomnia, nausea, difficulty breathing, sweating, cramps, etc. Having read that, it sounds to me like the wisest thing to do would probably be to contact your doctor about alternative ways to manage your pain in the event that suboxone 'or' morphine doesn't get the job done on their own. Some feedback I've read in other threads here even recommend trying methadone over suboxone; stating that it works better for their p...

I took 16 mg of suboxone at 4am Saturday morning and got my morphine filled now. Is it safe to take it after 16 hours? ## Hello, Scott! How are you? No, the Naloxone in the Suboxone will prevent the Morphine from having any effect, you usually need to wait at least 72 hours, before other narcotics will work, again, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I felt my morphine after 48 hours of not taking suboxone. ## I have been taking 12mg of Suboxone a day for over a year now bc I have been going to a counseling/rehab place bc I am a chronic pain pat...

Hi! I have been on 16 -24 mg of suboxone for almost 3 years now. I have been having some really painful tooth aches, and am waiting to get into my dentist for oral surgery most likely, so I go off and on in extreme pain. Every couple days, what I have been doing rather than just taking my sub, is taking my sub dose in the morning, and then in the evening around 8 taking an oxycodone 40 mg, to help with pain. It of course doesn't give that euphoric feeling, but it does help with the pain more than just my morning sub. I go to sleep, and 10 hours after I can take my suboxone no problem, without PAWS. I know lots people say 24 hours, but I am fine with 10, or even 8. Now last night I was in soooo much pain... I didn't bother to get an oxycodone, thinking it wouldn't be a bad ni...

I've been on a hundred and 20 milligrams of methadone for about a year now I'm currently also taking 15 milligrams twice a day of long-acting morphine and a PRN 15 milligram short-acting morphine every 6 hours my methadone clinic is making me taper off the methadone to go on pain management so right now I'm on 60 milligrams of methadone going down every week 10 milligrams is it safe for me to take suboxone once I've completely gotten off the methadone even though I'm going to still be on morphine. They are the strips 8 milligram strips and I'm hoping they will smooth over the effects of the withdrawal symptoms from the methadone ## No, you cannot take Suboxone, while taking other opiates, the FDA warns that doing so could cause you to go into precipitated withdra...

how long dose it keep pain away? I was given this by the doctor but i'm prescribed suboxone 8mg. Doesn't that defeat the purpose and will it hurt me if I mix the two? I took 1mg of sub at 1pm and my ABG 60 at 6:30 pm. ## Seems stupid. Suboxone fills your receptors full so you never feel a high that how it gets you off the opiates. Taking the morophine is stupid dont do it. Just take suboxone and slowly wean yourself off. Makes no sense to take the morphine when that what suboxone is trying to get you of off. ## Tim is correct, the Naloxone in Suboxone is intended to neutralize other opiates, to prevent their abuse, while someone is being treated with it, and the Buprenorphine in it is an opiate that takes a stronger hold on your opiate receptors than the others do, so it essenti...

Using 20 mg morphine sulfate 1x a day along with tramadol, nucynta, soma, voltaren, lexapro, for approx 5 yrs. Talking about suboxone treatment. Im not clear on why. Have not been diagnosed ad an addict. Follow presriptions directions. This usage is due to chronic lumbar back pain. Severe DDD. Can you help me understand why they are considering Suboxone. They want me to stop all prescriptions and start the suboxone? ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Suboxone does help some people with severe pain and some doctors also want to use it to see where someone's pain levels are, without all the other medications. They can better evaluate the next treatment steps for where to go. The FDA lists this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the p...

I have been taking morphine 60mg er for 5 yrs. Will buprenorphine be able to handle my neuropothy because 180mg of morphine & 12mg Dilaudid doesn't touch the pain I'm in? I'm no addict I feel no euphoria from these drugs. I hate taking them. I'm just scared buprenorphine wont be able to touch my pain I'm ready to cut my feet off its like walking on burning coal 24/7/365. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks ## For me dilaudid was ( I'm not taking now) only thing that gave me any quality of life and could still work with my nerve pain, but everyone is different, they have bucca films now that supposedly is strong enough to help with cancer pain, problem for me was I had other seriously legitimate and proven painful things happen and it was not good I had bee...

Hello, I take 8mg of suboxone daily, I'm having really bad pain right now. Will morphine take my pain away? I'm now looking to be high what so ever I need this pain to stop will it? ## Hello, China! How are you? No, the Naloxone in the Suboxone, plus the way the Buprenorphine clings to the opiate receptors prevents other opiates from working, while taking Suboxone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you consulted your doctor? They may have an idea of what may help your pain. Are you on any other medications? Can you take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories?

I believe I will be alerted if anybody replys ## Hi Omgmomma again with some good news that may help someone else someday. I'm basically answering my own question because nobody else did, in fact it seems there is not much activity for 2014 here. Does suboxone have morphine in it, because that's what they are talking about giving me? ## Hello, Emma! How are you? No, Suboxone contains Buprenorphine, which is an opiate, and Naloxone, which is used to help prevent people from taking other opiates, while they are being treated with it. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I went to my drugstore to fill my suboxone and the pharmacist told me my morphine level was too high. What did he mean? Confused and aggravated...

I've been taking 40gs of long acting and 240 of short acting daily for several years. The last month before converting to suboxone I tapered down. 12 hours after my last dose of long acting morphine it took 8mg of suboxone and started a3x a day 8ng of suboxone. I feel great. No side effects except 1st day had a bad headache. ## Wow! Those were very high dosages, so I'm glad that the transition went so smoothly for you. Some people have problems getting the dosage of the Suboxone just right. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any comments or questions? ## There's a company called point of return that...

I think it is a dam shame that there isn't concrete information about self detox.as far as morphine to suboxone my dr put me on oxy for a week and on subs after the week within a month I was off everything I started with a half of a strip of suboxone 2 weeks later a quarter and so on so maybe it was 6 weeks It's all about the money for pharmacy pain mgmt it's a shame but when you have chronic pain I guess your only option is to become an addict Find a good dr who will detox you I did detox but I'm back on pain Meds fetynal patch supposedly you build up a tolerance ## Unfortunately, there really isn't, and never will be, any definitive concrete self-detox instructions, because we are all different, so what works for one person, might not work for another. I took 200 mg of time released morphine at 11am yesterday morning. It's been 31 hrs. Is it safe to take a suboxone? I've been down this road before and I have never had a good experience! I hate drugs!!!!!! I have been sneezing, yawning, and jimmy legs! Please help!!! ## From what I've read on other reviews, you should probably wait at least 24 hours after your last dose of Morphine before having Suboxone. Others suggest waiting until you're well in to withdrawal, especially with Morphine. But I imagine these estimated waiting times are going to be largely dependent on several individual factors that also come into play. Everyone has different tolerance levels and different body chemistry that effects metabolism and excretion rates. However, in my personal opinion, 31+ h...

I have taken 8 mg of suboxone for the past 2 days, the last time being last night around 8pm. I just received a prescription for 60 mg morphine for a back procedure and am hoping to be able to take it by tomorrow night. The doctor told me since I only took it for a few days that's all I should have to wait (although I sure felt the shot they gave me!) Does anyone have any experience with this or answers that may help? ## Hello, Lolly! How are you? It usually takes about 72 hours, before other opiates will work, though it could be different for you, since you felt the shot without any issues. If your doctor doesn't feel you need to wait longer, then it is always best to follow their advice. It isn't harmful to try taking another opiate sooner, the Suboxone just prevents them ...

Hey I have a question and some info. I am getting ready to come off of 300 mgs of morphine. Started with vics, soon moved to 80mg of oxys, then to 100mg morphine tabs 3 times a day. I got into a suboxone clinic very expensive. I only pay 120.00 dollars for my morphine and now I have to go and pay 935.00 dollars for the first month without medication? I AM SCARED AND VERY NERVOUS TO START THIS...Any advice? And does anyone get there meds online? Figured if you can get narcotics why not the stuff to cure it? I have looked but I think it might be 2 new. Yes I will have a script for it in 8 days....HELP? ## Suboxone will not be easy to find from an online pharmacy, it is very closely regulated and legally can only be used under the supervision of a doctor who is specially trained in its use...

I did a morphine 500mg pill an hour ago can I do a suboxone strip 8mg now ? ## What did you take? There is no 500mg Morphine pill available. Can you please double check? When taking Suboxone, you need to be in full withdrawal, or it could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

I took a 8mg Suboxone 48 hours ago. I have a 60mg morphine to take for pain. Will the effects of the morphine work or do I need to wait longer? ## Hello, Shantastic! How are you? It usually takes about 72 hours, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yeah in theory it's supposed to last 72 hours, but that's the bupronorphine. The naloxone only lasts for a couple of hours. The bupe lasts longer to keep your tolerance up and your opiate receptors "busy" so other opiates will (again in theory) not have anything to bind to, making them ineffective...
