I have been on 15 milligram oxycodone instant release for almost a year I've got to where there are not working as well as they were in the beginning I need an increase to the 30's and my doctor has me on methadone I don't understand why he has me on methadone for breakthrough and opiates at the sametime I would rather him give me something else for breakthrough like a 30 milligram oxycodone to help with my breakthrough and take me out to methadone ## Hello, Vince! How are you? Methadone is also an opiate that treats pain very well for many people, so it's in the same drug class as the Oxycodone. And why do you want to just suddenly double your Oxycodone? It would be better to increase it in smaller increments, to prolong the amount of time it takes you to develop a tole...

Hello, I am 30 years female. I was diagnosed for hypothyroid in june 2015 with level 10 as per my report..I was put by doctor on Eltroxin 50mcg. Again I tested in August the report was normal as the level of TSh was 4. I continued the tablets. Now in Dec 2015 my TSh level has reached 15 and my doctor has asked me to start using Thyrox 75mcg. My T3 and T4 are normal >please suggest if this is the correct medication I am taking. ## You should follow your doctor's dosing instructions. The NIH lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, mood swings, and hair loss. Are you on any other medications? Have you started the new dosage, yet?

I can't find many doctors to take me because i'm on tncare right now. can anyone tell me of a physician in maryville or knoxvile, tn. that will prescribe this for me without going to a pain clinic. Susan ## Hi Susan, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. What pain medication are you hoping to get a prescription for? I started taking Oxicodone or at that time it was Vicodin for pain 15 years ago. It started with one tablet in the morning and one in the afternoon. As the years went by and the pain increased due to two separate health issues I started taking Oxicodone 10mg 2-3 at a time four times daly. That comes to a total of approximately 120 mg a day. Now that costs the insurance a lot of money and it has become very hard to get. It has been getting so difficult to get. And it is dangerous to have because the younger people want to steal it. How would I go about withdrawing from it if I could learn to live in pain. Or perhaps you could suggest something different. ## Ithink you have to go into a detox, because your taking it too long and your blood pressure might go up while withdrawing plus seziur...

I have a Spinal Injury (Cervical and Lumbar) Va Doctor Treated. Was on Percacet 5/325 for 4 years, Dr. placed on Oxycodone 15mg for 16 months. Switched VA facilities and new doctor has Opiate concerns and switches me before even reviewing my records because of her belief of no Opiate treatments to 5mg Oxycodone(Tolerance levels made them like aspirin) stating additional Insaids and Anti-inflammatory should do the job. After 9 months and many conversations, she still says she is concerned about Opiate abuse and will not increase me because of addiction fears. How do I express that I know my body is addicted but, at least with the 15mg I would relieve some of the pain. As it is now I just have enough Opiate in me for the body to need it, but not enough to be effective as a pain relief. If...

Around 7pm today I started experiencing UTI like symptoms. This time last year, 2/15/16, I was also treated for a UTI and was prescribed phenazopyridine and sulfamethoxazole. I was waiting an hour while drinking glasses and glasses of water before I knew it was a UTI. Once I determined it was, I had one of each of my old prescriptions, until I can go pick up a new one tomorrow morning. However, the phenazopyridine doesn't seem to be relieving my symptoms, and the pain when I urinate is getting worse. My urine is also yellow, not orange. Even from the beginning to now. Is it because the prescription is just over a year old? Any suggestion? I'm in quite a bit of pain. ## It is hard to say, medications do lose efficacy with time, but it could also be due to a different strain of ba...

Is there anyway that I can stop taking some of these medications? I have to take medications a day and I would like to eliminate some of these medications. ## Hello, I would speak with your healthcare provider before stopping any of your current medications. Only he will know your past medical history and what steps you should take through the withdrawal process. However, I can offer some information about how to plower your blood pressure naturally. Can I still benefit from taking 10 year old Morphine Sulfate 20mg/ml oral solution ## Hi Smith! After a medication expires, it lose"s it's effectiveness. Especially after 10 years. U should call your Doctor 4 a new prescription. ## @Smith, According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. I don't know whether or not the drug you have happens to...

I am 93 and have severe back and neck pain. I had back surgery 15 years ago after a back injury causing back and leg pain. After surgery, the leg pain went away but I still suffer from lower back pain. For a long time I would see the doctor who did my surgery every six months and he would give me a mega shot of cortisone on each side of my lower back which helped the back pain. Since then we moved to Orlando about 130 miles away from the doctor, but now I do not drive since I use a walker. My family doctor has given me hydrocodone-acetaminophen 5/325 and it helps some. I also sometimes take tylenol. Is it safe to take it with the other medication? Thanks for any help you can give me. ## No, you should not combine Tylenol with the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen, since they both contain Acetam...

I have been on oxycodone 30mg 6x a day for several years now and my tolerance has built up considerably high. I am considering changing to dilaudid 8mg 6x a day with 15mg of oxy 2x a day for breakthrough but im wondering if there Is a better alternative? I tried fentanyl patches and those didn't work worth a damn. ER tablets don't digest well for me. Please send me some suggestions I don't know what to go to ## Help, Alex! How are you? Why don't you try another time released medication, such as Oxycontin, which is the time release Oxycodone or Ms Contin, which is the time released Morphine? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Time released ...

I have been type 2, for 10 years, 3 years ago I was put on Sitagliptin, then last year on Invokana, lost weight and also lowered sugar numbers, then instead of using diet and excercise I just used the tabets to keep sugars down, then sugars went to 8.7 HBAC1, was put on Victoza and both medications stopped, in last 3 months, my sugars on Victoza sky rocketed to 11.9 HBAC1. After a massive argument with the GP, I asked to be put back in Januvia and Invokana, my sugars over the last months have been in their 15 to 20, I took one tabet of each yesterday, and my number are in single figures, I have vowed to keep drinking more, do my excercises and also now go on a low carb diet, I am grateful for these new medications, without which my sugars was out of control, and my next option was Insulin

I have been looking for an up to date forum to ask questioms, and hope this is it. I am prescribed 30mg extended release morphine, 4 times a day, and 15 mg, IR morphhine for break through pain, 4 times a day. I have been taking it for aprox 10 years. I have had disc fusing surgery, and have 2 more herniations that need surgical help. Arthritis, scar tissue and many other issues. The meds don't ever take the pain away completely, but allow me to live and work and get up in the morning without wanting to die. I work 13 hour days, at a somewhat physical job for me,, and I went into my purse to get a pill at the proper time, (not an abuser), and my script looked almost empty. I had just filled it. I took my script and went to the restroom and looked closely and yes, it was almost gone. ...

I as put on Co Diovan BP medication 15 months ago after being admitted to ICU with what the cardiologist seemed to think was arterial fibrillation. He said it was exactly the right medicine for my problem. I have just come out of ICU again now after having a transient ischemic attack. I am now on 5 different medications. My question is could the Co Diovan which I was taking before, have had anything to do with the second problem. The specialist I saw now said no. My second question is what will the other medication I am on now do to me. I am onCarloc 12.5mg, Exforge 10 ml, Adco Simvastatin and aspirin. The cardiologist said I did not need aspirin, now I do. I also have to be very careful of any medication with sulphur in it as 10 years ago I got Stephen-Johnson Syndrome from a sulphur d...

I stopped taking Topamax in July and subsequently starting dosing up with Lamictal. Two weeks ago I was at 150 mg and as of Friday, 8/24 at 175 mg. I had blood work done 8/24 and neurologist says my levels are too low and I'll lose my license. This happened with Topamax 2 years ago, Dr. asked why I wasn't taking it, I was! They asked me the same thing today, if I was taking my meds. Every day, same time. 75 mg in am; 100 mg in pm. Anyone have any ideas as to where its going? ## That is an odd situation.
