I have been taking 50 mg of Lyrica 3 xs a day for about 8 years. I understand there is finally a generic Pregabalin available. Has anyone taken the generic? I was getting my Lyrica for free through Pfizer but now that there is a generic Pfizer will no longer give me Lyrica and I will have to pay for it. ## That is normal, once the generic is available, a manufacturer will usually end their assistance program for any given medication. I was on Atacand for several years, and then had to switch, once a generic became available, and the program ended, because at that time, I was uninsured, and still couldn't afford the generic price, which was over $100 a month. Skin rash, edema, rash, breathing difficulties. Ended up in ICU on life support. Took for fibromyagia. Sure didn't work for me or for my sister in law. Pay attention to side effects. I have been on Lyrica about 4 months. I also take a long list of other meds for neuropathy. I have had some weight gain, confusion, and forgetfulness, a lot of the same symptoms as MS. Sitting home waiting on disability was worse on me than anything the meds could do. Because of Lyrica I am still able to work a 40 hr week. Before, I was in so much pain I didn't want to do anything. I have been taking Lyrica 50mg 3x a day for idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and feet for the past 5 years. It works very well for me and I have -0- side effects. When I miss a dose my legs start burning and I become aware that I missed my dose. I also am able to get my Lyrica for free from Pfizer. ## Awesome! So very glad that it is working so well for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. You haven't experienced any of them? That's amazing! AARP is not an organization looking out for seniors and getting savings on drugs. AARP should have the following information at their fingertips and I have brought it to their attention in 2 separate emails. Pfizer has revised their patient income limit. The new limits are $47,080 annualy for a single person. If your income is below that level you can get drugs like Celebrex, Lyrica and others for FREE. Previously, my prescription for Lyrica and Premarin put me in the donut hole by March. Now, since I get them FREE directly from Pfizer I am nowhere near the donut hole. Pfizer is a great company looking out for seniors. These days it's common for FM doctors to deny patients opiates on the grounds that studies have proven opiates to be ineffective against pain relief for FM. I've been unable to find any study supporting this that was not partly funded by Pfizer. This is problematic because Pfizer was convicted earlier this year of violating federal racketeering laws for it's marketing practices, which included making false claims about the effectiveness and lack of negative side effects of certain of its drugs. Perhaps you could help in this research.
