metoprolol 100 mg
2 Replies RSS
I have white coat and anxiety. My doctor has had me on Metoprolol 100mg succinate once a day and just switched me to 100mg tartrate twice a day since my BP was high in his office. Is this dangerous or the dosage too high? Seems like a high dosage. ## Hello, Kera! How are you? What are your bp levels at other times? If it's really only high, when you're in the doctor's office, a medication isn't necessary. Even an ER won't treat for that, they will only do so if levels are dangerously elevated. As to the medication, it is actually safe in doses up to 450mgs a day. ## I take Lisinopril 10 mg a day and Metoprolol 100 mg at night. My blood pressure is still elevated around 150s/90s. My cardiologist has told me to double the Metoprolol to 100 mg a day. That seems like a l... ...

Losartan 100 mg daily with Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg
2 Replies RSS
If I'm prescribed both pills, do I have to take them together? What if I only take the Losartan without the Hydrochlorothiazide? ## You should take them both, as prescribed. They are often used together to help lower high blood pressure and to treat some cardiac conditions. Taking just the Losartan may lower it some, but not as much as taking both. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Did your doctor instruct you to take both? ## Someone has asked this, but I didn't see a specific response to it - Should losartan and hydrochlorothiazide be taken at the same time or different times of day for BP control? ...

I wanted to know the small and big side effects of using Telvas 40 continuously for the last 10 years? ## The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Your risks would be far greater if you let high high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition remain uncontrolled, since they have the potential to be fatal. Are you on any other medications? ## Is there any added benefit to taking telvas h 40 instead of telvas 40? I have been taking telvas h 40 for several years and my blood pressure is maintained at 100 to 120 and 65 to 75. Should I switch over to telvas 40? ## Hi. High BP not reducing with medicines
1 Reply RSS
Hi, my mother has High BP. It was 140/90 for the past few years.. But for the last one month it has gone up to (150-160)/(100-110). She is 49 years old. She is using Concor 2.5mg, Ln block 10 (twice a day) and Aldactone 25 mg. But still the BP is at the same level. She even consulted a cardiologist but everything is normal. Please suggest what can be done to reduce the BP. Can someone suggest any dietary changes or any medications that can reduce the BP? ## Hello, Srao! How is your mother doing? Some people are sodium sensitive, according to the NIH, so she might do better if she lowers her salt intake as much as possible. Eating healthy low fat foods can also help, so can exercising. She can also speak to her doctor about raising the dosage of her medications, or trying different ones.... ...

Flomax,Tamsulosin, and my 22 yrs of history of bph.
2 Replies RSS
OK guys, gals, ladies, and, gentlemen. I have been taking Flomax, starting in 1996, or since it's release, and at that time, depended on samples from my primary care doctor, because, at that time flomax was 100$ for 30 capsules. Then, when my insurance started paying, the generic Tamsulosin was released, and to date I have remained on this medication for bph, and prior to 1996 Hytrin was prescribed, which also worked for me. For 22 years I have had to take something for bph and I'm now 60 yrs old. OK, I said all that to say on this. For 20 yrs I've taken FLOMAX 0.4 MG Capsules, and never had any side effects, but on 1 or 2 occasions, I ran out and was off for maybe a week before I could not urinate, and had immense pain trying, and desperately was ready to rob a pharmacy to ... ...

My vet prescribed previcox 227 mg for my dog but the pills he gave me have bp-car 100mg printed on them. Is this the same drug or did he make a mistake ## Hello, Rick! How are you and that pup? No, they are not the same medication. Previcox contains the active ingredient Firocoxib, but the one you've been given contains Carprofen. They are both non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, but not the same. I'd suggest contacting them to double check which your dog should be taking. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

Bad reaction to Metoprolol XL
3 Replies RSS
Had been taking Cozaar 100 mg, which had my bp under control (ranging from 115/78 to 128/82). Also started back at the gym 2 1/2 months ago. Now up to regular cardio routine totalling 150 mins/ week. No shortness of breath or other problems. I asked the doc if I could step down to Cozaar 50 mg, as the 100 mg was making me feel like my heart ached from time to time. Doc changed to 50 mg Cozaar, but added Metorolol XL 25 mg. First day, I had a bad reaction: dizziness, disoriented. 2 days later, still didn't feel right. Took my bp and it was 150/87 and continued to rise. Went to the ER. They told me I was having a panic attack. Doc ordered a dobutamine stress echo test. Have had mild chest pain and some shortness of breath at the gym on exertion. Passed with flying colors. But bp has r... ...

I am having High Bp 140/90 and some times 140/100, for the last 10 years. first 8 years I was put on Atenol 25mg. Two years back my cardiologist changed my medicine to Telma-H(40mg). This year when I went through regular check up my BP was 140/100 and sugar levels were 125 FBS and 170 PBS. The LDL was 140mg. Immediately he advised to take telma-H 80mg in empty stomach in the morning. I followed for three days it made lot of acidity and gas problems. I stopped 80 mg and revert back to 40 mg. My BP rose to 160/110. I went to some other cardiologist who suggested to take trazloc trio 40mg.(combination of telmaH and amlopress). For two days the BP didnt come down. I approached homeopathy doctor He suggested some medicine and my BP came down immediately, Subsequently I followed strict diet c... ...

Replace ToprolXL with Diovan?

I have been taking Toprol XL for 4 years. Can I replace it with Diovan? ## I am 53 and take 100mg Toprol Xl each morning. I exercise at least 40 minutes 5 days per week (cardio) at the lunch hour. I am the CEO of our company and do experience stress on a regular basis. I am 6'4 tall and 225 pounds. I have been taking toprol for a few years now and recently was increased to 100 mg because my BP was up. I have felt dizzy and light headed on a regular basis and I'm not sure if it's the toprol xl or something else. I take no other medication and I do not smoke or drink. Question about scored blood pressure tabletsF
2 Replies RSS
I have been taking 50 mg twice a day of metoprolol tartrate since May. Doc wants to double the dose all at once...200 mg a day because BP was elevated a little (from a panic attack, I believe). So the 50 mg scored pills were a pink pill. The 100 mg pills are blue scored pills. If I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, is cutting the scored 100 mg tablet the same as two 50 mg tablets? I do have panic/anxiety disorder and med phobia..thats why I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, especially because of the side effects I had when I started the 50 mg tablets...i.e., anxiety, nervouness, dizziness. I expressed to her my concern and she said, "you"ll be fine". Completely did not understand or care about my concerns. Thanks for any answers you can give as far as... ...
