I had an open sore on my left big toe, and I went swimming in a personal friends lagoon on their resort. A staph infection got into the sore and quickly spread throughout my left leg. The leg swelled to three times its normal size, and I spent three weeks in a hospital, where they bombarded it with antibiotics. That procedure was working, but the antibiotics had trace effects of blood thinner qualities. I am a heart patient that has had nine heart procedures, including a quadruple bypass. I cannot take ANY TYPE OF BLOOD THINNER without hemorrhaging. The antibiotics with thinners in them caught up with me, and I spent several trips to the hospital, severely hemorrhaging from the nose and mouth. I had to stop the antibiotics, and now the infection is starting to spread in my leg again. My...

I have only been on HCTZ for 3 weeks because of high blood pressure readings, and I have seen a definite change in my hair. There is total lack of body, and even my husband has noticed the thinner quality of my hair. I am afraid to comb it for fear of seeing more hair on the comb, but at this stage it is more a total thinness. Is 3 weeks too short a time for this to happen? Previous to that I was on a different blood pressure med briefly, called Diltiazem, right after my foot/ankle surgery. But I don't see thinning of hair as being a side effect for that med. Was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem while on HCTZ and if so, was there anything that can be done to help. This is causing me a lot of stress. Haven't had this problem before and don't want this to get ...

Hi, I have been on bystolic for over a year now, what I am noticing lately is hair loss/thinning... is this a side effect of Bystolic? Is it reversible? As a woman, the last thing i want is to be lose my hair. HELP! ## Hello, Rose! How are you? Yes, hair loss can be a side effect and, unfortunately, once it's started it usually continues as long as someone is taking it. The only way to reverse it would be to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## After going on bi-stolic for high blood pressure) for a few months my hair started thinning ALOT! My dermatologist said it can happen with beta blockers. All ## is diltiazem cd a blood thinner ## Is diltiazem a blood thinner? ## No, it is not. It is a calcium channel blocker that is used to high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, low heart right, and hypertension. I cannot possibly list all the medications that may cause blood thinning. To the OP can you please post back and clarify which one you are asking about? Thank you!

I am on blood thiners so can tramadol hcl 50 mg can it make my blood thiner ## Hello, Marge! How are you? No, Tramadol does not have any blood thinning properties. It is classified by the FDA as an opioid analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. However, you should only take it, if it has been prescribed for you by your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

will hydrocodone cream thin the blood Yes or no ## Hydrocodone does not come in a cream. I believe you're talking about Hydrocortizone Cream. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? On top of what BL said, no Hydrocortisone in the cream is a topical steroid used to treat skin rashes and allergic reactions. And no, it should not cause blood thinning, because you usually don't absorb much of it. Side effects are usually limited to topical reactions, such as skin irritation and redness. I have high blood pressure and I am taking loprin 75. Is it right? Note: I used to be a drug addict - i.e. morphine (opiates). ## Did your doctor tell you to take this? From what I can find, it is listed as containing Aspirin, which is used for blood thinning and heart health, but will not help lower blood pressure. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. Are you on any other medications?

I have began taking Cholestyramine for Oral Suspension for the severe diarrhea I have been living with following the removal of my gall bladder in June, 2018. It seems to be working, but I am con- cerned about it absorbing the blood thinning medication I have been on following 3 strokes. There have been no more strokes since beginning Plavix 6 years ago. Does anyone know the answer? I would appreciate any help given towards answering this question!

Hi, I am pregnant and on blood pressure medication to regulate my high blood pressure. I recently heard that since I'm pregnant and on blood pressure medication I should also be on blood thinners to prevent a blood clot. Is this true? ## I have never heard of such a thing, as a matter of fact, from what I've read in pregnancy information, most women are just on a blood pressure medication, such as Labetalol and nothing else. Many of them have blood thinning properties of their own, so another blood thinner is rarely necessary, unless there is some other underlying condition, such as a clotting disorder, prior stroke, or etc. What has your doctor advised?

Does diclofenac act as a blood as aspirin Have read a million articles and read a lot of information but not one article has actually came out and said yes or no ## Hello, Stas76! How are you? It can cause some minor blood thinning, as a side effect, but not like Aspirin or an actual blood thinner will, so it shouldn't be relief on to do such. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the input. I have issues with nerve and inflamation I take diclofenic as needed but as i have read it does raise my blood pressure..Have been reading about the sodium type vs the potassium type. I'm on metoprolol and digitek. I had a cold so I took ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine. Would this cause thinning of blood? My nose is bleeding and eyes appear very bloodshot. ## Ibuprofen is an NSAID and while it may cause bleeding and change the way your blood forms platelets it does not thin your blood. This is pretty much a characteristic of most NSAIDs. Aspirin is the most common NSAID known to actually think the blood. ## Ibuprofen has been known to cause hemorrhage, so yes, it can cause blood thinning, and other issues, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation. How severe is the nosebleed? Are there the only medications you take? How much Ibuprofen did you take? Can you please post back with more specific detail...

i take wellbutrin, paxil. kolatapin, and adderall could they thin your blood ## dose wellbutin thin your blood ?? ## No, that is not a normal side effect of these medications. The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nervousness, and weight changes. Are you having an issue with blood thinning? Are these the only medication you are currently taking? What are your diagnosed medical conditions? There is really no way to say how any medication will affect anyone that tries it, so it can't be 100% ruled out, but it is unlikely that the listed ones would cause any dangerous blood thinning.

Does this medicine have any blood thinning properties like aspirin? ## Hello, Jeff! How are you? The prescription drug identification databases list this tablet as containing 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, so no, it isn't known to cause blood thinning like the NSAIDs. The FDA lists this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My neurosurgeon told me to avoid NSAIDS or anything that will thin my blood because I am scheduled for surgery in 6 days. I am in excruciating pain because I had to stop taking Voltaren. I have a topical solution that has Ketopro 10%, cyclobenzaprine 1% and lidocaine 5%. I can't get in touch with the mail order pharmacy. Does anyone know, if any of those will cause blood thinning? Thank you! ## Yes, the Ketopro stands for Ketoprofen, which is an NSAID, so it should be avoided, before surgery, according to your doctor's instructions. The FDA lists its other typical side effects, when used topically, as possibly including headache, skin redness, irritation, and flaking. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am currently taking Verapamil 300mg, lisinopril 20mg and avalide 300mg. Can i take propoxyph darv-n 100 with these meds? ## My perscription is propox/apap 100/650 1 or two tabs every 4 hours as needed. Other meds arel lovastatin, lotrel, hctz with one 325mg aspirin each day. Is this OK with the opiate above? ## I think the primary concern here would be the APAP, which stands for Acetaminophen, being coupled with the Aspirin that you are already taking. These can both result in blood thinning and combining the two could cause stomach irritation and ulcers. Using it in conjunction with the blood pressure meds means that some extra monitoring of your BP and pulse rate should be done, while you are using, since it can cause depression of these bodily cycles, which means you could end up wit...
