I have moved to a very rural area of southeast Mississippi and cannot find a good doctor to help me who doesn't think of me as a "drug seeker!" I am 65 years old and I need some relief! I was dx bipolar in 2002. I was in bad shape...hospitalized nine times within a year. The Dr had me so messed up on meds, I was a zombie. Absolutely no quality of life. I rather be a little manic rather than a zombie. After four years of psych meds I stopped everything. It was no way to live. I also have fibromyalgia. Now the only psych med I take is Celexa and I've not had any major bipolar issues. I take Methadone, Morphine Instant Relief three times a day, along with Soma twice a day for muscle cramps. Those keep my fibromyalgia at bay....for the most part. My fear is the bipolar will rear it's ugly head one-day and I'll be right back in that bad place. I'm always waiting for the bottom to fall out. It's cause me to be anxious.I'm just hoping and praying it wo...

Can Cymgen 60 be taken if you are Bipolar? ## It can be taken, if the patient's doctor has prescribed it for them to take. Cymgen contains the active ingredient Duloxetine, it is an SNRI antidepressant. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello! Ok so, i was diagnosed with several mood disorders including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, ocd, and borderline personality disorder. I have been on alot of different medicationsls and quit takong everuthing after i became pregnant. I decided after i started the methadone clinic and got into church that i was misdiagnosed due to drug use and whatnot, becuase my moods were stabilized, my anxiety and paraniodness got better. Now im detoxong out of the clinic, i have about 4 more months to go, and ive read several articles about methadone helping with bipolar. Now im scared that i really coild have this. I mean i do have mood swings and anxiety but its controllable, not lyk before. What do yu think? ## Hello Hope! How are you? I do understand your concern. When I was on pain...

Has anyone had any success with Roboxitine ## Hello, Ann! How are you? The FDA classifies this as an NRI class antidepressant and have never approved it for use here in the U.S. due to the fact that it's efficacy has been challenged in multiple studies and reports. Thus, I find it doubtful that many people have gotten much help from it for anything. Many have found it to be no more effective than a placebo. Has anyone tried this medication? Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, excessive sweating and constipation. ## I've just had a terrible time after being prescribed Reboxetine by my physchatrist. I was taking mirtazapine but suffering from severe low moods and insomnia. I've been lucky enough to have not suffered from side...

Can anyone recommend a new psych medication? I am bipolar and have tried lithium for 3 years, tegretol, abilify, respedal 4 mg& seroquel which worked the best. But due to vision problems I needed to stop after 3 years. Now I am on Zyprexa 20mg 2x a day for anxiety. Not feeling it. I need to find a drug that will work with my topomax.(Topomax 100mg for migraines. )does anyone have any suggestions? ## Hello, Modelo! How are you? I'ms sorry about the problem that you're having. What type of doctor have you been seeing? Sometimes, people do better with a combination of medications, when others aren't working by themselves and a psychiatrist would be the best person to help you find the right combination for you. From your list, it seems you've not tried Depakote, yet. It ...

I cant stand the hideous side effects of any of the other bipolar drugs anymore .I take 450mg lithium now. Hoping topamax can work . ANYONE ON TOPAMAX? DRS DONT WANT TO USE IT. ## Topamax, which contains the active ingredient Topiramate, is an anticonvulsant. Some have used it to treat BiPolar disorder, but it is not approved for such uses, which is probably why most doctors do not want to prescribe it. It has some pretty serious side effects, too, include: nausea, headache, anorexia and memory prroblems. You can read more here: Has anyone else tried this medication for BiPolar disorder? ## I am currently on Toplep 50mg twice a day along with Nuzak 40mg. I have been diagnosed with Depression and Type II Bipolar. I had some memory loss in the beginning, more like forgetfulness. Mild head...

Ive been on depakote 125mg for a week. Ive had what feels like a severe panic attack for almost that whole week. I was just wondering, ive only been on it a week would it be ok to just stop, because i cant function like this. Its awful, and i never had this problem before taking this drug. ## Hello, Lindsay! How are you? Anxiety can be a side effect of Depakote and most other similar medications. You may also experience dizziness, blurry vision, dry mouth and indigestion. However, these side effects usually start to taper off after about 3 to 4 weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. Have you consulted your doctor? They might be able to prescribe something temporarily to help with the anxiety. ## I have been taking divalproex sod er, twice a day 250mg, for 4 weeks. And I noti...

My sister takes take her tegretal and seroquel. Do these have a horrible impact upon each other? She seems like she's drunk all day. I believe it's the seroquel. I just want her to have some normalcy in her life and she definitely cant function like this. ## Hello, Laura! How is your sister doing? I'm glad you posted your concern, because she does need to speak to her doctor. She could be developing an issue with serotonin or something else, which has the potential to be dangerous. Normal side effects to Seroquel include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. How long has she been taking them? ## she just started taking the tegretol again about a month ago. Shes been on serequel since april. ## A month is long enough for it the serotonin to possibly be building up in her...

Has anyone been taking this for mental issues and if so how does it make you feel ## Oxcarbazepine is an anticonvulsant and mood stabilizing drug, used primarily in the treatment of epilepsy. It is also used to treat anxiety and mood disorders, such as bipolar disorder. I did come across a brief article on the topic of using this medication for mental issues, however, it has not been as heavily studied as other similar drugs: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17376019 I know this isn't necessarily the type of review you may be looking for, but I thought some information would still be more helpful than none at all. I found myself stumbling upon a few reviews by running a google search for "oxcarbazepine bipolar reviews". I hope this helps!

I had a problem with opiates for 6 years. My drug of choice was Roxy 30s, and occasional OC 80 (when Roxy wasn't available). I am now 2 years clean and I am on Suboxone 8mg 4x per day. After a year of taking this, I started feeling very tired. I went for a sleep study and they prescribed Nuivigil 250mg twice a day, over the FDA's guidelines. After 6 months my moods were out of whack. I had symptoms of BiPolar, so my doctor gave me 50 mg of Pristiq. I noticed some change but after a month I was back to the mood swings. My doctor had me see an Endocrinologist. This doctor ordered blood work and noticed my testosterone was very low and prescribed a Testosterone shot every week to get my levels back up. The tiredness went away but my mood swings still were a problem. I found out tha...

i have been using topomax since november 2010 for neuropathy pain. i had the typical side affects of facial numbness, tingling, flat taste of any carbonated drink and the best of all side effect was my 32 lb. weight loss and counting. since then i have been prescribed the medicine for bipolar along with cymbalta which also works great for my neuropothy. these two medications together seem to be the best cocktail for my pain and my bipolar. i have been on many different meds. in my adult life and none of them have given me the results that these two have. so for those of you that are thinking of getting off of topomax before you allow the side effects to go away, i would suggest that you at least hang in there for a few weeks to see if the good results outweigh the bad side effects. i al...

Someone I know was diagnosed with biopolar and depression. Have a background of substance abuse. He was put only on epitec 50mg twice a day. His saddenly stopped the epitec and have suicidal idees and even tried too. Is it possible that the background of substance abuse can cause biopolar and should the epitec be incresed? ## Are Epitec the generic of Epilim ## Hello, Tracie! How are you? Yes, it is definitely possible for substance abuse to cause such problems. But as to increasing the medication, that is up to his doctor, he may also need stronger medications. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Epitec (Lamotrigine) as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and mood swings. Thus, the mood swings may also contribute to some of his problems. I have Chiari Malformation - A brain condition that has my cerebellum going into my brain stem (my brain is too big for my head so it slightly seeps out my skull). I get continuous migraines and nerve pain I also have ADHD combined and Bipolar 2 I am currently on Vyvanse 30 x1 (adhd), Lamictal 100 x2 (bipolar), Gabapentin 100 x2 (nerve pain). I have never been on a nerve pain medication that has helped me out so much. My problem is, when I combine it with the Vyvanse, there is agitation and I tend to go manic for the day and crash at night with a lot of anxiety. When on Vyvanse with just the Lamictal x2 and Gabapentin at night, I feel a lot better, but I'm still cycling fast. Also, ever since starting the Lamictal I am cycling faster. My doctor wants me to start vitamin D3 supplements. I’m on the low side in my Vitamin D levels. I was concerned if Vitamin D3 supplements could cause mania or depression because I’m Bipolar. I try not to take anything that will cause depression or mania. ## I didn't find anything listed about it doing so, and I think the biggest concern would be if you took far too much of it, so please make sure to take it exactly as directed by your doctor. You can learn more about Vitamin D here, and its possible side effects. Overall, it is considered safe in therapeutic doses. What medications are you currently taking? It does interact with some. ## I take lithium 900 mg a day, toprol xl 50 mg a day, and Ativan 1 mg a day.
