Has anyone had any success with Roboxitine ## Hello, Ann! How are you? The FDA classifies this as an NRI class antidepressant and have never approved it for use here in the U.S. due to the fact that it's efficacy has been challenged in multiple studies and reports. Thus, I find it doubtful that many people have gotten much help from it for anything. Many have found it to be no more effective than a placebo. Has anyone tried this medication? Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, excessive sweating and constipation. ## I've just had a terrible time after being prescribed Reboxetine by my physchatrist. I was taking mirtazapine but suffering from severe low moods and insomnia. I've been lucky enough to have not suffered from side...

Someone I know was diagnosed with biopolar and depression. Have a background of substance abuse. He was put only on epitec 50mg twice a day. His saddenly stopped the epitec and have suicidal idees and even tried too. Is it possible that the background of substance abuse can cause biopolar and should the epitec be incresed? ## Are Epitec the generic of Epilim ## Hello, Tracie! How are you? Yes, it is definitely possible for substance abuse to cause such problems. But as to increasing the medication, that is up to his doctor, he may also need stronger medications. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Epitec (Lamotrigine) as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and mood swings. Thus, the mood swings may also contribute to some of his problems. How are you? It is an effective medication for many people, but the only way to see if it will help you is by trying it. I was on Belviq fir approx 3 weeks. I felt as though I was having bipolar episodes. Manic phases. On Thanksgiving day I decided enough! I stopped the belviq. I had been on Zoloft for 2-3 years & weaned off to take belviq. My doctor was very against me starting belviq but I badgered him until he agreed to let me try it. I regret it. Since coming off belviq & recently starting the Zoloft again, I now have constant anxiety with depression. I'm hoping Zoloft will start helping soon, it's only been 1 week back on. I've lost 5lbs exercising with beach body products & eating healthier. I will never try a weight loss pill again. My life is a mess right now. ## Hello, Abby! How are you feeling? Have your symptoms improved, yet? Most weight loss medications work as stimula...

For 40+ years I have battled bipolar illness.. been through all meds, many ect, rTMS. and clearly dealing with trd... How can I find novel treatments.. spc.. sKetamine, or possibly GLYX13,, I am in Canada but will travel to get help.. Having a MI seems to in a less than important issue, the stigma and all.. but I don't care if it doesn't keep me from treatment.. ## Just get on the web and do searches for Ketamine and the other medication you wanted to try. There are clinics popping up all over because of the efficacy of Ketamine. Big pharma and Psychiatrists hate this because it takes you off their payroll money cash flow. Thankfully what is right is right and this works. Good luck. ## Where do you live? I was told by my psychiatrist that Dr. Roger McIntyre will be doing ketamin...

Bipolar disorder or bipolar affective disorder (historically known as manic–depressive disorder or manic depression) is a psychiatric diagnosis for a mood disorder. Individuals with bipolar disorder experience episodes of a frenzied state known as mania (or hypomania), typically alternating with episodes of depression. At the lower levels of mania, such as hypomania, individuals appear energetic and excitable and may in fact be highly productive. At a higher level, individuals begin to ...

I cant stand the hideous side effects of any of the other bipolar drugs anymore .I take 450mg lithium now. Hoping topamax can work . ANYONE ON TOPAMAX? DRS DONT WANT TO USE IT. ## Topamax, which contains the active ingredient Topiramate, is an anticonvulsant. Some have used it to treat BiPolar disorder, but it is not approved for such uses, which is probably why most doctors do not want to prescribe it. It has some pretty serious side effects, too, include: nausea, headache, anorexia and memory prroblems. You can read more here: Has anyone else tried this medication for BiPolar disorder? ## I am currently on Toplep 50mg twice a day along with Nuzak 40mg. I have been diagnosed with Depression and Type II Bipolar. I had some memory loss in the beginning, more like forgetfulness. Mild head...

I don't have a question but do have a few thoughts about Vyvanse. I noticed that in the official Vyvanse drug info that Vyvanse was being considered in the treatment of Major Depression Disorder. I have struggled with Bipolar ll for many years with Seasonal Pattern, ie I have extreme depression in the winter and hypomania in the summer. My depressions generally havetreatment resistant and I have been hospitalized several times. A couple of times only ECTs could break my depressions. There have been times when depression threatened my life because it was so unbearable. A couple times ECT's was the only effective treatment. Last winter (2010-2011), I didn't bother with seeking hospitalization but strongly felt that I could not deal with another bout of such debilitating depres...

looking for a center in Southern California that takes Medicare for treatment of bipolar and depression ## Hello, John! How are you? I'm sorry, but I have no way of knowing what insurance any given clinic or doctor accepts. Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. Have you tried calling Medicare to see if they have a listing of doctors in your area that accept it? Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? What type of treatment are you seeking, in-patient or out-patient? ## Get enrolled at Kaiser Permanente and then make an appointment with the MD that gives infusions of Ketamine. Research this. Your psychiatrist will not want you to do this because it threatens his inc...

My regular doctor has taken sick and is very rarely in her office. Need to find a physician who will treat me for chronic pain and bipolar disorder in Winsboro or Quit man Texas. Needed ASAP. Thank you. ## Hello, Yvonne! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll not likely find one doctor that will treat both. Anyone that requires controlled substances, such as narcotic pain medications, must see a specialist now to have them prescribed. A regular GP cannot prescribe them, neither can a psychiatrist. A general practitioner can no longer prescribe for and treat chronic pain. It might be easiest to call your doctor's office and ask them for a referral to someone. Can anyone sugg...

I have battled anxiety my whole life and my current primary care doctor thinks it's a joke and simply told me "you'll grow out of it." Due to recent hardships in my life the anxiety has gotten much worse and now depression has developed. I made an appointment with a local Psychiatrist in Greensboro but I just looked over all of his reviews and it seems every patient who comes into his office is diagnosed bipolar and put on very strong anti psychotics with major side effects, I don't want that. I was hoping maybe some xanax or valium with a mild anti depressant and some good counseling. Any suggestions? ## Hello, Jeffey! How are you? If your PCP doesn't take your issues seriously, then you may want to look into finding a different doctor. As to the Psychiatrist, t...

My doctor wants me to start vitamin D3 supplements. I’m on the low side in my Vitamin D levels. I was concerned if Vitamin D3 supplements could cause mania or depression because I’m Bipolar. I try not to take anything that will cause depression or mania. ## I didn't find anything listed about it doing so, and I think the biggest concern would be if you took far too much of it, so please make sure to take it exactly as directed by your doctor. You can learn more about Vitamin D here, and its possible side effects. Overall, it is considered safe in therapeutic doses. What medications are you currently taking? It does interact with some. ## I take lithium 900 mg a day, toprol xl 50 mg a day, and Ativan 1 mg a day.

Hi, I have Bipolar depression since my childhood. I have been on Epitec 200mg for 9years now. I have not picked up any weight and honestly look terrible with being so skinny. I approached my Doctor and he tried to put me on Epilim but it did not seem to keep me stable so i moved back to Epitec. I've spoken to someone which introduced me to Zyprexa. I would like to know if Zyprexa would give me the same mental treatment as Epitec but will increase my weight. ## Hello, Mee! How are you? It might, but there's no guarantees and, even if it does, it will only last while you are still taking it. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? It would most likely be best to stick with using the medication that works for you, rather than trying something else, just because you're worri...

What can I do? ## Hello, Draggin! How are you? Most psychologically active medications cause REM onset latency, which means it takes longer than normal to enter the REM stage of sleep and you spend a shorter amount of time in it. So, it is normal to feel tired and rundown for awhile, though it will usually improve, as your body adjusts to the medications. Additionally,...
