what is this used for ## i would like to know what this ointment is used for ## 12 years ago, at a time of great stress in my life I had terrible rash in feet/lower legs which 4 (!) dermatologists looked at, prescribed creams for, each made it worse than before. In desperation I went to NYU dermatology medical center which first told me to throw all creams & lotions prescribed and then conducted contact/other allergy tests which were all negative. They then prescribed an ointment formulated & dispensed exclusively at the hospital pharmacy, with many refills which immediately started working, i.e., it was soothing & it didn't make it worse. I refilled this many times & eventually it all went away & never came back. I kept my last jar in case it ever came back to b......

Have a 5 yr. old mixed breed rescue dog who has a severe chewing issue on her rear legs. Have been through food & environmental checks at Cornell Companion Animal Hospital; used specially formulated injections on a monthly schedule; used various sprays & lotions rubbed on the area recommended by our vet and none of this has worked! If it is prescribed for you daughter, you shouldn't use. You should see your doctor to get something prescribed for you. Betamethasone is a steroid and while it can help with allergic reactions, such as poison ivy, it could also make some skin conditions worse, so if you don't actually have poison ivy, you could be putting yourself at risk. You also don't need to antibiotic that it contains, that won't do anything for an allergic reaction.
