what is this used for ## i would like to know what this ointment is used for ## 12 years ago, at a time of great stress in my life I had terrible rash in feet/lower legs which 4 (!) dermatologists looked at, prescribed creams for, each made it worse than before. In desperation I went to NYU dermatology medical center which first told me to throw all creams & lotions prescribed and then conducted contact/other allergy tests which were all negative. They then prescribed an ointment formulated & dispensed exclusively at the hospital pharmacy, with many refills which immediately started working, i.e., it was soothing & it didn't make it worse. I refilled this many times & eventually it all went away & never came back. I kept my last jar in case it ever came back to b......

Have a 5 yr. old mixed breed rescue dog who has a severe chewing issue on her rear legs. Have been through food & environmental checks at Cornell Companion Animal Hospital; used specially formulated injections on a monthly schedule; used various sprays & lotions rubbed on the area recommended by our vet and none of this has worked! My husband was prescribed this compounded formulation for a severe skin itching problem and this cleared completely. Want to know if this would be safe to use on our dog? ## Hi Joy Liese, Based on my research, Betamethasone dipropionate can effectively treat itchy rashes and other inflammatory skin conditions in animals. A regular dosage of .25 to 0.5 milliliter per 20 pounds of body weight is usually recommended, but the dosage may depend on how seve......

Need to know If I can order this online in Mexico and be shipped to US ## Hello, Jim! How are you? I'm sure there are ways you could, but it isn't legal to do so, since all of these ingredients require a prescription in the U.S. The Betamethasone is a steroid class medication that carries the risk of causing some dangerous side effects, such as fluid retention, elevated heart rate and elevated blood pressure, so the U.S. doesn't allow most of them to be used, without a physician's supervision. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## You can get Quadriderm on amazon. I use to live in Mexico and we use to call it the triple treat cream lol. ## Just go to a Mexican flea market is all ## I have really bad dark spots in my face. Can I use this for poison ivy? My daughter has it prescribed for her excrma. I am desperate with all the itchy from the poison ivy. Is it safe to use? Will it work? ## Hello, Gert! How are you? If it is prescribed for you daughter, you shouldn't use. You should see your doctor to get something prescribed for you. Betamethasone is a steroid and while it can help with allergic reactions, such as poison ivy, it could also make some skin conditions worse, so if you don't actually have poison ivy, you could be putting yourself at risk. You also don't need to antibiotic that it contains, that won't do anything for an allergic reaction. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, are usually related to its topical use and may include skin irritation, redness, burning, discolora......

Betamethasone Information

## Do you mean Dexamethasone? Dexamethasone is a member of the glucocorticoid class of hormones. This means they are steroids but, unlike the anabolic steroids that we hear about regarding sports medicine, these are catabolic steroids. Instead of building the body up, they are designed to break down stored resources (fats, sugars and proteins) so that they may be used as fuels in times of stress. Cortisone would be an example of a related hormone with which most people are familiar....
