My doctor spoke against the Antenolol drug but has specified Nebicard 5mg as an option. Both are beta blockers, but which one will have the least side effects? ## Atenolol is an old drug but the only bet blocker I can tolerate. I don't have edema in my feet anymore and I have more energy and less depression than with anything else. It also does the job for me just as well as any other drug. I take 50 mg twice a day along with a diuretic and my pressure is usually in the 120s or 80s even being over 100 lbs overweight. ## bhushan, since they are both in the same drug class, they both pretty much carry the same side effect risks, such as nausea, headache, dizziness and stomach pain. And Robby, even with good blood pressure readings, you should still try to do something about the excess...

Unfortunately, these natural substances aren't evaluated for possible interactions with prescription medications, so I don't have such information. In theory, I'd think it should be fine, but it would be best to double check with your doctor, before taking it. Does it really help with your joint pain? ## Hi, I have been using Hyaluronic (HA) supplements for the past 2/3 years and noticed my BP was consistently higher 130/90 for the past several months. I am 60+. I have been prescribed by a Doctor to have half of Aten 25mg after break-fast. I have been on this medication since 7 years. I am keen to know if it has any side effect. I thank if some one can give me the answer. ## Did you mean to ask about long term effects? Because side effects only last for a short while, as your body adjusts to a medication. There is a risk that long-term usage of Atenolol may cause damage to the liver, or kidneys, but not controlling your blood pressure would be far, far more risky. Learn more Atenolol details here.

Can chymoral forte be taken with Tenormin 25 mg tablet which I take for blood pressure ## Hi Veeboy, Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between Chymoral Forte (chymotrypsin + typsin) and Tenormin (atenolol). However this do not necessarily mean no interactions exist at all. You should always talk to your doctor first before combining any medications, just to play it safe. Hope this helps!

Which is better for Atenolol? Teva or Zydus? Which works better? Which has less side effects? Teva is a smaller pill than Zydus. ## Hello Grammy, Both brands should have the same side effects because Atenolol is the active ingredient and Teva/Zydus are only the brands. Every person reacts to medication uniquely and thus each person is going to have to decide which brand works best for them. Although they share the same active ingredient, often brands will have small differences such as size, inactive ingredients, shape, coating etc. I will provide you with some of these details I sourced from the NIH so you can make a more informed decision on which you would prefer to take. 8/17/17 I've been taking 25mg of Atenolol 3xday for Afib, I have it often, have a pacemaker and on pradaxa (blood thinner). Apparently Atenolol is back-ordered all over the country. My cardiologist prescribed Metoprolol, only 25mg 1xday. I'm switching tomorrow and I'm concerned with enough dosage from Metoprolol. I have googled, can't locate equivalent dosage, can you help? ## It is generally better to follow your doctor's instructions as to what dosage you should take. Since these are in the same medication class, the doses are also sometimes the same. The FDA warns that the side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you started taking it, yet? If so, how are you doing?
