My daughter started taking this medication in Feb. and became very anger and out of control, could this be cause from this medciation ## Mixed Amphetamine Salts are a stimulant medication used to treat conditions such as ADHD and Narcolepsy. And yes, there is a possibility that the medication could be causing her problem, since it is a stimulant, it can cause irritability and anger in some people. Have you contacted her doctor, yet? It may not be the right medication for her, or she may be on too high of a dosage.

My 9 year ols nephew is on 40 mg a day this seems too much! The extended release capsules are not recommended for anyone age 6 or under, so I can only speculate that his body (from a biological standpoint) may not even be ready to handle this medication. Safety guidelines for this medication note that if any bothersome adverse reactions appear (e.g., insomnia, anorexia, or depression in this case), the dosage should be reduced. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, but never really took any sort of medication. As the years past, and I progressed into adulthood signs of my ADHD presented themselves more clearly which effected my personal relationships and overall work output/performance. I decided that the adult thing to do would be to research and talk w/ my doctor about possible steps. I take 30 mg ER twice a day and it seems to wear off latter on before the evening time. Does anyone have this issue if so what do you or your doctors do to fix this. ## From what I could gather, many people are saying that the D-Amphetamine Salt Combo seems to only last about 4 hours before it's initial effects start to fade. However they may or may not be referring to the extended release version. Others have also stated that the generic doesn't necessarily work as well or as long as the name brand. We just lost our health insurance and can no longer afford the meds. Do you know who makes it? I am not sure what to do. I've been taking Amphetamine Salts 30mg for about 2 years, this had been great for the depression but it sur- pressed my appetite and effected my taste buds so drastically, I had no interest in food whatsoever. Then my physician suggested concerta ER, but that didn't seem to do much for my depression. ## Well neither of them are actual antidepressants, they are actually stimulant medications that are normally used to treat conditions such as ADHD and narcolepsy. So, it's normal for them to cause appetite suppression, but they don't usually help much with depression, because they can cause irritability, so that will actually backfire in some people. Hello All, I am not glad that you are having issues, but if am so glad that you post, because I am having the same issue with my 14 year old son. He was taking the blue and white 15 mg Amphetamine salts ER for Narcolepsy with Cataplexy. This is his very first time on the medication, IT WORKED! Well after the first 30 day prescription, good old CVS decided to take it upon themselves and change it to the orange pill, same miller grams, but the name on the bottle is Dextroamp-amphetamine ER. This dose not work at all. My son is constantly falling asleep, and the Cataplexy has complete control over him, causing him to fall at least four to five times a day. Hi, Can someone please educate me on the differences between Adderall ER as opposed to Adderall XR? I had no idea there was an ER as well as an XR until yesterday. ## There is no difference. I live with a questionable character who I have caught red handed taking my meds from me. I am prescribed amphetamine salts 30 mg xr, generic for adderall. They are orange and clear capsules filled with orange beads. The time I caught him I found that he had taken the pill apart and ingested the beads, then put the pill back together so I wouldn't know...really sneaky. Hi: I've been prescribed Adderall 20mg IR (generic amphetamine salts, 2x daily) and I found I was just dripping sweat in any type of heat or even at 40 deg after some exertion. My doctor switched me to dextroamphetamine (again, generic, 10 mg, 2x daily), and there is no improvement. The new drug is not as effective as the Adderall.
