MY SON STARTED TAKING THIS MEDICATION A WEEK AGO AN STARTED HAVING STRANGE SIDE EFFECTS A TWITCH WHEN HE GOES TO TALK / EXPRESS HIM SELF ,AN DONT KNO WHAT TO DO. ## Anytime you are concerned about unusual side effects, you should contact a doctor or pharmacist immediately. They could be the sign of a serious reaction. even if they they aren't, he may have been put on too high of a dosage or this may not be the correct medication for him to use. That said, the twitching can be a normal side effect to this medication, since it is a stimulant. He may also experience nausea, insomnia and weight loss. It should taper off, after a few weeks, as his body adjusts to the medication, however, if it doesn't or if it gets worse, you should contact his doctor immediately. Read more on the me... ...

My daughter started taking this medication in Feb. and became very anger and out of control, could this be cause from this medciation ## Mixed Amphetamine Salts are a stimulant medication used to treat conditions such as ADHD and Narcolepsy. And yes, there is a possibility that the medication could be causing her problem, since it is a stimulant, it can cause irritability and anger in some people. Have you contacted her doctor, yet? It may not be the right medication for her, or she may be on too high of a dosage. ...

My 9 year ols nephew is on 40 mg a day this seems too much! He seems distant and depressed all the time, should I be concerned? ## Hi Kerry, From what I could gather, the usual pediatric dose can range from 5mg up to a maximum of 60mg once daily. The extended release capsules are not recommended for anyone age 6 or under, so I can only speculate that his body (from a biological standpoint) may not even be ready to handle this medication. Safety guidelines for this medication note that if any bothersome adverse reactions appear (e.g., insomnia, anorexia, or depression in this case), the dosage should be reduced. I think it's perfectly ok and natural to be concerned for someone who looks depressed and distant. This would probably be attributed to side effects and/or too high of a dose... ...

Amphetamine Salts Er 20 mg plz help
9 Replies RSS
I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, but never really took any sort of medication. As the years past, and I progressed into adulthood signs of my ADHD presented themselves more clearly which effected my personal relationships and overall work output/performance. I decided that the adult thing to do would be to research and talk w/ my doctor about possible steps. My doctor suggested, along with a confirmation by a psychologist, that I start taking Adderall XR. So I was given 20 mg of the generic form (Amphetamine Salts ER). My first day was last Wednesday, and it worked wonderfully. I was motivated, alert, focused, which led to a better overall mood. It was everything I had hoped for. The next day I took it again, but with less of an effect. I chalked this up to my body getting used... ...

I take 30 mg ER twice a day and it seems to wear off latter on before the evening time. Does anyone have this issue if so what do you or your doctors do to fix this. ## From what I could gather, many people are saying that the D-Amphetamine Salt Combo seems to only last about 4 hours before it's initial effects start to fade. However they may or may not be referring to the extended release version. Others have also stated that the generic doesn't necessarily work as well or as long as the name brand. I wouldn't doubt this to be true, as I know generic medications are allowed to contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredients. This factor, along with different inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) could enable you to have a completely different reaction to ea... ...

Are you aware of any discount programs or assistance for free d-amp..? I just ran out of my prescription, and I am unable to refill it due to the high cost. ## HI, Eric! How are you? Sorry about the problem you're having. But no, this is a generic medication, so it is cheaper by its very nature, thus there is no assistance program for it. Additionally, the name brand, Adderall, also has no coupon or prescription program available at this time, since there is a generic available now. Learn more Adderall details here. The best suggestion I can make is to ask at your pharmacy and see if they honor any discount programs, there are many available from various sources that are usually free and can save you anywhere from 10 to 75% on some prescriptions. ...

I take 2 30mg of Amphetamine Salts ER a day and I am tired
11 Replies RSS
I have been on adderall XR for several years now and it has always worked great. Recently my pharmacy switch me to the generic form, Amphetamine Salts ER 30mg Cap. I am tired all the time now and I all I ever want to do is sleep. Is this normal? Is there a difference between Adderall and the generic form? ## The proper generic for Adderall is mixed Amphetamine Salts, so you may want to double check your prescription. Your body can also get used to the same medication and dosage if you have been on it for a long period of time and it may no longer work as well. This may require a medication switch or dosage adjustment. And yes, there can also be differences between the name brands and generics. The generic is actually allowed to fluctuate in the active ingredient by as much as plus or mi... ...

What is dextroamphetamine/amphetamine er? I've just started this med. Does it take time for it to build up in your system before it starts working? If so, how long does it take? ## This is a generic for Adderall, which is most commonly used to treat ADHD, narcolepsy, and shift work sleep disorder. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, insomnia, nervousness, and anorexia. There should be some immediate effects, but it will take 4 to 5 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. I've been taking Amphetamine Salts 30mg for about 2 years, this had been great for the depression but it sur- pressed my appetite and effected my taste buds so drastically, I had no interest in food whatsoever. Then my physician suggested concerta ER, but that didn't seem to do much for my depression. ## Well neither of them are actual antidepressants, they are actually stimulant medications that are normally used to treat conditions such as ADHD and narcolepsy. Learn more Amphetamine Salts details here. Learn more Concerta details here. So, it's normal for them to cause appetite suppression, but they don't usually help much with depression, because they can cause irritability, so that will actually backfire in some people. Have you tried any actual antidepressants? ...

Have you been switched from one to the other? ## My son is being treated for ADD as was his older brother many years ago.
