Amoxicilina

I have bad kidneys, plus Parkinsons disease, plus have had both knee replaced. I took Amoxicilina 2000mg daily for two years straight. I never felt better, I lost 75 lbs. quite couldn't figure out whyI was losing all this weight all of a sudden then I decided it was time to go off the pills, within three months I gained 50 lbs and started feeling terrible. What is the catch? ## Amoxicillin is nothing more than an antibiotic and that is a very high dosage and a very long time to be taking it. Why were you on it for so long? It should also not cause weight loss, like that. Have you spoken to your doctor about this?

A friend brought Amoxicilina name brand Broxidad from Mexico. We both have had a cough for almost 4 weeks. The pharmacist in Mexico recommended to buy this product 500MG and take one pill every 8 hours for 10 days. I can't find this brand it all when I google it. But wanted to know if anyone has bought this before? I am not getting better. I have some amoxicilina 500 mg. july 2008 can it be used ## Hi mary, I honestly wouldn't recommend using any expired antibiotics that are more than a couple months old. That's just me personally. Reason being is that certain ones can actually become toxic after the expiration date, making them more harmful than they are good. If it were any other type of drug I would say yes, as most properly stored medications can last up to 10-15 years beyond their expiration date (according to a study done by Harvard University). I have taken amoxicilina many times during my life; bought in the US and in Honduras. This last week I got a bottle of 60 capsulas while in Cozumel, to complete my antibiotic treatment (I lost the previous amoxi I was taking). I am very familiar with the smell and taste of amoxicilina and penicillin. I open the capsules when I take it, it tastes bad, and has a unique taste & smell (also in urine). The current bottle I just purchased, red & white capsulas, is a white powder with NO taste nor smell. Furthermore, it appears to have no affect on my sinusitis, and NO odor in urine.
