Amox K Clav For Dog

Can i take amox clav for dogs to treat my tooth ache its hard to get to hospital. ## Hello, Travis! Sorry about the toothache. You're going to have to see a dentist. There are some medications that are made for canines, which aren't manufactured to human standards, so it may not be safe for you to take, additionally, if you don't have enough to finish a full course of treatment, it creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. And while an antibiotic can help with the infection, it will not fix the underlying cause of the infection, such as a deep dental cary, so it will just keep returning, until you see your dentist and have it corrected. Is there anything else I can help with?

my dog has been prescribed amox/clav as the vet says he has very bad teeth and looks infected, im worried about the side effects on him as he is a 14 and a half year old plus he has heart problem and all things about this product say keep away from animals, has anyone else given there dog this product, i just worry about him so much, ## Okay, the first issue is that for an elderly animal, with a heart problem, a dental infection is far, far more dangerous than any medications used to help clear it up. And when they direct you to keep it away from animals, they mean don't let them get ahold of it and eat the whole package, or let them get ahold of ones that aren't prescribed for them. Just like you would need to keep your medications out of reach of small children. This is a gene...

Rottweiler his 3rd verba bray bone is believe to affected the vet gave him this drug. He is now stumbling all over the place. This is either cause by the medicine or the bone. Answers Please ## Hello, Hawg! How are you? This is an antibiotic and the FDA lists its typical side effects, in canines, as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and drowsiness. Thus, it may actually be a combination of both, since this medication can cause dizziness. However, I am not well versed on the use of mediations in animals, so I advise you to consult your veterinarian to be sure. Is there anything else I can help with?

My Bulldog got bitten by another dog on his ear. I'm broke but I have amoxicillin 500mg. And amox TR-K CLV. HIS EAR IS INFECTED WHICH WOULD BE BEST ## Hi Gina, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your bulldog. A bite on the ear sounds pretty gnarly! In my honest opinion it would probably be best to contact a vet and get their approval before giving any sort of medication to your dog. However I don't think it is uncommon to hear about dogs being prescribed amoxicillin. According to standard pet medication dosage charts, the usual dose of amoxicillin in dogs is reportedly 5 to 10mg per pound, taken every 12 to 24 hours. Your local vet should be able to verify this and other pertinent information (including how many days it should be taken for and which type of amoxicil...

What is the dosage for a 40 lb dog with a severe bladder infection? How long does it need to be taken? ## Hi Bunny, From what I could gather, the standard dose of Amoxicillin for dogs is reportedly 5 mg for every pound the dog weighs [administered every 12 hours], or 10 mg per pound [administered every 24 hours]. I haven't come across any specific details concerning the duration of treatment, but I'd imagine that it would differ on a case by case basis depending on the type and severity of the infection. Nevertheless, I think it would ultimately be your safest bet to have a veterinarian determine which dosing regimen to go by after evaluating the dog in person. Hope this helps! ## My two dogs had a fight , both 130-135 lbs. They both were bit in the leg an head. I put triple ant...

I have a full bottle of these pills and my dog has a bladder infection. He is 126 lbs. Can I give him these? They expire in June so I won't be using them. ## Hi smokey, Based on my research, it should be ok for your dog as long as you're administering the correct dosage. The recommended dosage of Amoxicillin + Clavulanic acid is listed at 12.5mg (per kilogram of body weight). That amount is to be taken twice daily for treating most general infections (including UTI's). If you have any other questions pertaining to proper dosing or administration, you may also want to contact a local veterinary office, since they are well versed in this field of study. I hope this info helps and wish your dog a quick recovery! ## Hello, my 10 pound maltese has an ear infection. I have leftove...

So I just got prescribed this antibiotic for a dog bite and I have used amoxicillin before but it has never worked for me for anything I have used it for. Since this drug has it in it, will it even work for me? ## Did you discuss that with the prescribing doctor? They really don't know what does, or does not work for you, unless you tell them, or they have your full medical records. And exactly what do you mean by saying it doesn't work for you? This one, which contains Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid is a generic for Augmentin.

Hi, what if my dog took a piece of a tablet that fell to the floor? Is it poison to dogs? Thanks ## Based on my research, drug companies do actually make Amoxicillin for both cats and dogs. So in my opinion your dog should probably be ok in the long run without any worries. However if your dog doesn't seem to be handling it well, I would still encourage you to bring the dog to your local vet and have it checked out. Can you give human Amox tr cla to cats with inflammation gums. ## Hi Katlady, Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium (Amox TR-K CLV) is a prescription antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. And yes it is something that may be prescribed by veterinarians to cats/dogs alike in respective dosages. However, according to Dr. Foster and Smith Pharmacy, the human form of this medication reportedly contains more Clavulanate than the veterinary form. Taking that into account, I think it'd probably be best to let a vet determine how much is safe via an in person evaluation. Hope your cat is doing well since you last posted!
