My son is allergic to both of these meds and he has been prescribed Tramadol for pain. I am unable to find if this drug is related to either and what to look for. ## Hello, Mari! How is your son? No, Tramadol is actually only very distantly related to narcotics, it isn't even really considered to be one. But you should double check the information to be certain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Trammodol is an opiate. I too am allergic ## Doctor: uh man I guess we have no choice but to give him oxycontin or dilaudid. I'm guessing he's allergic to nsaids too. ## Verwon: Tramadol (Ultram) is an OPIOID...

I want to take codeine but am allergic to morphine and I've heard that they are similar drugs. So I want to know if this is true, and if so, could I possibly die from that sort of reaction? ## Codeine and Morphine are two different drugs, but they are both opiate pain killers. Furthermore, when your body metabolizes the Codeine, it is converted into Morphine. In some patients, this may result in lethal blood levels ... Some people may have allergic reactions to codeine, such as the swelling of skin and rashes ... A potentially serious adverse drug reaction, as with other opioids, is respiratory depression. [1] You may very well be at risk of an allergic reaction and should work closely with your doctor to ensure that it would be safe to take. I hope this helps! Can you write back an...

I'm about to have throat surgery and I'm allergic to Penicillin, Codeine and Percocet. What's the most effective pain med I can be prescribed? ## Penicillin is not a pain medication, it is an antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. As to the pain medication allergies, there are others you can try, such as Morphine, Dilaudid, and Opana, your doctor should be able to help you decide which one is right for you. Only your doctor can prescribe an appropriate medication. However, there are quite a few options ranging from nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, like Meloxicam, to other opiates, such as Oxycodone or Dilaudid. As listed by the FDA, the NSAID are approved to treat pain, fever and swelling, so some people with joint pain do well with them. Yes, there are quite a few others that are also potent opiates, including Oxycodone, Dilaudid, Opana, Fentanyl and Codeine. Am I Able To Take Codeine #3, If I'm Allergic To Penicillin&Amox? And Am I Able To Take Naproxen ? ( Seperatly ) ## Yes. Codiene # 3 is Codeine 30 mg/Acetaminophen 325 mg and is used for pain relief. Naproxen is an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used to reduce inflammation and lower fever. Penicillin and amoxicillin are antibotics and are used to treat infections. Being allergic to Penicillin and amoxicillin has nothing to do with Codiene # 3 and narpoxen. ## Codeine #3 IS NOT 30mg of codeine. That is actually called Tylenol #3 with codeine. Please be careful what you read on here! Codeine comes in 2.5, 5, 7 mg, etc. This reply was shocking to read,v and I hope that wasn't an actual doctor replying. ## I believe the person who said Codeine 3 meant Tylenol...

I have SLE, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, Scleraderma, Raynauds, Achalasia, Brain Tumour, Peripheral Nueropathy and Emphysema, and now it's affecting my heart. The only pain killer I am taking is Panadol Osteo because I'm allergic to morphine, codeine etc. The docs are also passing me back and forth like a hot potato. I know my diseases make it difficult for them to deal with (no picnic for me either) and I understand that very little research has been done on one person having so many rare conditions but I just want the truth and more importantly just a sign that maybe they care.

when my mom had her appendix out, the dr. gave her a round, yellow pain reliever that started with an N. She is in extreme pain now, and the dr's office said it will take 5 days to get her records out of storage from 2010. It was not a codone, oxi, or anything of that nature because she is allergic to codeine. I want to say it as "nu" something. Does anyone know of a yellow, round pain reliever of this sort? Thank you. ## Hello, Kdex! How are you? There is a round, yellow Nucynta tablet that contains the narcotic Tapentadol and it would have been around at that time, since it was approved in 2008. Doctor prescribed Tylenol #4 for shingles pain. Can Tylenol #4 be split in half? There is too much codeine in a whole one. It makes me light headed and nauseous. ## To the person asking about splitting Tylenol # 4 in half as it is making you feel nausea. My advice would be to make sure you're not talking it on an empty stomach, as with most pain medications they should be taken with food, however, always read and follow any prescriptions directions and understand their side effects. I would immediately stop taking the medication and consult your Doctor to insure your not taking any conflicting medications; or try a synthetic pain reliever such as Hydrocodone, as many people are allergic to Codeine. Personally however I think Codeine/tylenol # 3 and #4 are junk drugs that's uses ...

I have been on Hydromorph Contin 6mg for 2yrs for spinal stenosis and disc problems and the doctor gradually has increased the dosage (I take 2 pills in the am and 2 in the pm). I have also been on fentnyl patches but am allergic to the glue used on the patch. ## Did the Fentanyl help? Was the problem with it just caused by the allergy to the glue? Small white pill with NM 11 printed on one side and nothing on the back ## I took endocet as prescribed by my Pain Specialist Dr. after dinner and after 30 mins. or so, I began experiencing light headedness, shortness of breath, vomiting, confusion, unusual thoughts... ## Oxycodone will do that to some people, especially if you are not used to taking narcotics or senstive or allergic to some other narcotics such as codeine. Another alternative is that those can also be just regular side effects from taking it and they will seem more acute if you are not used to taking narcotics. Most narcotics will cause shortness of breath, but if you found it truly bothersome, then I would suggest speaking to your doctor so they can prescribe an alternative medication.
