My mom just got her pain medicine and it says A 40 on it and I can't find an image anywhere so I can make sure they're ok to take. ## If your mom just got her prescription filled at a licensed pharmacy, she should have received it in a normal prescription bottle with a label attached. I find it very alarming that this information would be absent. I did locate a white capsule-shaped pill marked with "A 40" that reportedly contains a combination of Acetaminophen (325mg) + Hydrocodone bitartrate (10mg), made by KVK-Tech. NDC: 10702-0191 Do you happen to know the color and shape of the pill in question? ## I got the same pill i found in my car did you find out what it is?

Is there such a thing as 40mg and 60mg time release lortab ## Lortab is a combination medication that contains the narcotic Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen, so no, it is only available with a maximum of 10mgs of the Hydrocodone. Learn more about Lortab Details here. There is a medication undergoing the testing and approval process that would solely contain the Hydrocodone, but even if it is approved, it is unlikely that it will be available in such high dosages. Are there any other questions?

My family doctor subscribed 10mg Hydro's for me for continuing pain from a lumbar x 4 back fushion. He told me that these were DOT exceptable providing they did not cause drowsiness. Now that he can no longer do DOT medicals with the laws being changed the new DOT Doc says I have to stop taking them even when prescribed and not at work! Please, what's the true story on this prescription drug??? Thank you, Robert ## DOT states that you must have proof that you're taking them legally if you come back positive for them on a drug panel. But, a lot may depend on exactly what it is that you do. See DOT Rule 49 CFR Part 40 Section 40.139 at the DOT website. ## Dot. says any drug that alters the mind in any way is illegal in a comercial rig.that also includes those wonderful steroid...

There is no expiration date on this cough medicine. It is hydrocodone-chlorpheniram that was filled on 9/2/14. Is this still safe to take? ## Hi Jackie, According to studies represented by Harvard University and the LA Times Newspaper, hydrocodone can reportedly last anywhere from 10-40 years past the expiration date, depending on the conditions in which it is stored. Chlorpheniramine on the other hand is something I'm not so sure of (when it comes to long term studies); however, GlaxoSmithKline a UK-based drug manufacturer denotes a shelf life of 3 years for their Chlorpheniramine tablets. I understand that your product is liquid rather than a tablet, but if it were me in this position I'd probably feel some sense of security if it were stored in a cool, dry and dark environmen...

Rescheduling hydrocodone/APAP combos to CII seems to have mixed results. I believe that it was the ignorance of the use of liver damage with exceeding 4,000.mg of acetaminophen and not necessarily the abuse opioid factors. Your thoughts. ## Prescription meds containing Tylenol, where limited to a max of 325 mg of tylenol effective Jan 2014. Rescheduling hydrocodone combination meds became effective Oct 6 2014. There is no connection because drugs are scheduled according to their risk for abuse and addiction. ## Continuing thoughts on the previous post: The way they schedule drugs "according to risk for abuse/addiction" should in my opinion, be reconsidered on many accounts. 1st being that addictive behavior only stems from those individuals who are not disciplined in their decis...

Is the yellow liquid solution of Hydrocodone-Apap a generic form of Vicodin? ## I was prescribed this stuff for pain relief after a tonsilectomy...bottle reads: 400 HYDROCODONE/ SOL APAP Take 2-4 teaspoonfuls every four hours as needed. My question is, is there a way to tell how many milligrams each of hydrocodone/acetominophen per teaspoon? I am concerned about the APAP as we all know it is toxic to the liver in high doses and would like to know how much is in each dose I take so I can monitor it. I am assuming the 400 on the bottle corresponds to that, but I don't know how it applies (ex. per teaspoon, or per reccomended dose of 2-4 an hour). Seems to me its a lot harder to find info on ratio of hydro. to APAP in liquid form, wheras it is almost common knowlege for the tablet-form...

Would this be ok to take? 1 year later would be 2/14 ## Hi Debbie, There's actually an article in the LA Times Newspaper (which you can also find online) stating that researchers from the California Poison Control System, UC San Francisco and UC Irvine did a study investigating a variety of old drugs (Hydrocodone being one of them); and concluded that many of them are still ok to take even up to 28-40 years after the listed expiration date! That said, I don't think you have anything to worry about with your medication only being 1 year past the expiration. As long as it was stored properly and not left out in high temperatures, most of the potency should still be intact. I hope this helps!

What is the limit for a single dose for a 170 lb person? I hear this drug can be dangerous and I want to make sure my son is taking it correctly for his surgery recovery. ## The hydrocodone will not harm him even if he took 8 per day but the acetaminophen cannot be more than 4000 mg a day. And as you can see 325times 8 is not even close .so I hope he does well in his recovery.God bless Rocket666. ## However, regardless of safe limits overall, they should only be taken according to his doctor's prescribing instructions. This medication does carry the risk of being habit forming and addictive. It may also cause side effects likes nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation and drowsiness. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started the 40 mg does of Viibryd about 3 weeks ago; I take it at night with supper. I have been prescribed Hydrocodone/acetam 10-325 mg for knee pain. I take the Hydrocodone as needed for pain, and I try to take it in the daytime away from the time I typically take the Viibryd. Question can I take the two together or should I keep taking them separately as I am doing. ## I didn't find any contraindications listed, so either way is likely fine, unless your doctor, or pharmacist instructs otherwise. However, taking them at the same time, or close together, may result in your experiencing more side effects than usual, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, dry mouth, headache, and mood changes. My daughter has been taking hydrocodone 5/325 every 4 hrs since Thurs afternoon. 24 hrs ago, her dr moved it to every 6 hrs, and she took her last one at 615pm last night (it's now 1250a). Can you switch to extra strength, OTC acetaminophen now (500mg tabs)? Or should we wait longer after her last hydrocodone dose? Please advise. Thank you! ## You can take up to 3000mg of acetaminophen in a 24hr period. Anymore than that should be under a doctor's care/advice. ## According to the FDA, their 'liver warning' goes by a maximum daily dosage of 4,000 mg within a 24-hour period. This is not to say that you shouldn't consult with your doctor first, but it should allow for substantial flexibility in your dosing. If you're currently taking 1300mgs a day (325mgs four times...

M363 is the closest match to your description and it is also identified as Acetaminophen (500 mg) + Hydrocodone bitartrate (10 mg). So I can only assume that you may have misread it? My 40 lb grandson was prescribed 1 teaspoon of 7.5/325/15 mL hydro/lortab. Is this a safe dose for his size? ## It is best to give him the dosage prescribed by his doctor. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is he on any other medications?

I've been approximately 10 years on hydrocodone acetaminophen 10-500. It now has been changed to Hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10-325 without any consultation. What would be the reason for the change and will it attack the pain the same? Thank you. Todd ## All prescription tylenol combinations medications had to reduce the amount of tylenol to no more than 325 mg in Jan 2014. The FDA has even taken action to withdraw the approval for prescription meds that have more than 325 mg tylenol. The decrease in tylenol may or may not make any difference to you. Some drs are telling their patients to add 1 regular strength tylenol to the prescription meds, if they need it. Just be sure to keep track of how much tylenol you take in a 24 hrs period and don't let it exceed 4,000 mg in a 24 hr pe...
