I was wondering about Zocor. My husband has been taking this medication for a while and just recently he changed doctors. Well the new doctor did some blood work on my husband and the one test for his liver is showing some damage to it. Can Zocor or Zeita do this if you taking this for a long period of time? ## Yes, it can cause liver damage. Doctors are supposed to require a liver (blood) test before they refill this drug, every six months. ## Zocor contains the active ingredient Simvastatin, and according to FDA reports, this medication has been known to cause elevated liver function levels on blood work, and liver failure, along with the more typical side effects that may include nausea, dizziness, and joint/muscle aches. Ref: Simvastatin Information What other actions has his doctor...

I kept complaining about the pain,,,,,,,,my blood sugars ...

My father in law is on a cholesterol lowering medication and is no longer allowed to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice. I have just begun Zocor and am concerned. ## I just read that you can't drink more than a quart of juice or large amount of grapefruit. That being said, I'd ask your pharmacist. ## my father eats grapefruit, but his doctor told him not to eat it very often ## I eat 1/2 a grapefruit in the AM and take my Zocor at night. Is there a problem with doing this? ## There is an enzyme in grapefruit that can inhibit your body's ability to break down some medications, such as Zocor, which could result in you absorbing too much of the given medication. Thus, it is best to abstain from eating grapefruit, or drinking its juice, while taking Zocor. However, if your...

what is the difference between zocor and lipitor Doc changing me from one t the other ## Many doctors think all the statin drugs are about the same except for potency. (Lipitor about twice as potent as Zocor.) Quoted from an Older Article Below: 'The Food and Drug Administration approved the drug atorvastatin (Lipitor), which research suggests is more potent than the older statins. At its highest dose, atorvastatin may confer a slight advantage in reducing LDL for those with very high cholesterol. For most people, the lowest standard dose of atorvastatin is sufficient to help achieve target cholesterol levels. Why atorvastatin is more potent is not completely clear. Atorvastatin has a longer period of action than older stating, which may be why this drug produces similar reductions ...

I take tramadol and lisinopril, zocor, metformin and celexa. Is it safe to mix these? ## Hello, Angel! How are you? The concern is mixing the Tramadol with the Celexa, since they can both raise serotonin levels, which has the potential to be dangerous. They can be taken together, but your doctor should be monitoring your regularly, to catch any issues ahead of time. The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opioid so it has the potential to be ha bit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Put on statins in 2009 (first Zocor, then Lipitor). In June 2012 had severe episode of heart palpitations and chest tightness (ended up in ER). Had EKG, chest x-ray, blood tests -- all normal. But chest tightness, lightheadedness and fatigue symptoms continued for days. After cardiologist visit (including stress test) found no problems with heart, returned to regular doctor for more blood work. Found nothing... Then based on my own online research I found my symptoms matched up with Lipitor side effects. Stopped Lipitor first week of July... chest tightness and fatigue symptoms are now gone but lightheadedness continues. After more online research, I have begun taking CoQ10 and Milk Thistle this week. No improvement yet. Anyone with similar experiences? How long does it take for the bod...
