Yes, all non-approved pancrelipase drug products have stopped being manufactured and being sold to wholesalers and pharmacies because of FDA quality control guidelines which went into effect on April 28, 2010. Only 3 approved agents are now being sold: Creon (Abbott), Zenpep (Eurand) and Pancreaze (Ortho-McNeil Pediatrics). Older products will eventually be out of stock at the pharmacies as supplies run out and not being replaced with new product. Has anyone been approved for Actavis Patient Assistance Program? I've been in the coverage gap (donut hole) since February. One months prescription is over $500 and I will need these enzymes for the rest of my life. If you were approved, How did you qualify. Do you have any insurance? I was denied because I'm on a Medicare Advantage program. I'm on SSDI and this expense is a true hardship. My son (27 years old) was diagnosed with CF at the age of 4 months. He has been on Zenpep for the past 10 years. Since he is 27 years of age, he is now off of my wife and I commercial insurance. He is self dependent and has a good job and his health is doing pretty good. Even though he has a good job and decent insurance, he has a deductible plan and that also goes for his Prescription medications of $5,000. The Zenpep saving card is a HUGE help if he just owed $400 or $500 a prescription as it would cover the cost. However, he has to meet his deductible of $5,000 and even help with the Zenpep savings card he would still owe about $1,500 for his prescription. Last week the P/A increased my dosage of Zenpep from 5,000 units a meal to 50,000 units a meal. It has not helped. I will call her tomorrow with the sad results.
