I was given Yutopar during my pregnancy. I don't know of any issues with my daughter. She was still pretty-term. I am now wondering if our recent bouts with auto immune disorders might have anything to do with it. ## Hi Leslie, Based on my research, Ritodrine (dicontinued preparation: Yutopar) is a tocolytic drug, used to stop premature labor. This drug has been removed from the US market, according to FDA Orange Book. Have a sister who took Yutopar in 198I, I believe, because of pre-mature labor. She was hospitalized for 1 week and then was taking it in pill form for another week. She got chills and shakes when she took the medication. She was 6 months pregnant when her she experience pre-mature labor. After 2 weeks of taking Yutopar she called her doctor and told him she would not take anymore because she was concerned that if she had this type reaction what was it doing to her baby. She had a beautiful baby boy, that full term +, that appeared very healthy; however, he has dealt with major issues from youth to present: depression, anxiety, cannot function on a day to day basis. He kept screaming something was wrong and all of our family labeled it as "grow up and get over it" until now. His...

This drug was used for women going into pre-mature labor. It was used to stop the contractions. Unfortunately it had major side effects on the babies. This was an experimental drug used from 1980 -1990 and was then discontinued. I was given this drug and my daughter was born 6 weeks early, had her by c-section. I begin to notice around 12 yrs old that problems were arising in her mental health, still not realizing that this drug played an important factor. I have found many women that this to has happened to, and I'm still looking for more families that this has effected. It is devastating and a nightmare for my daughter who is now 30 yrs. old. If you have any information I would really like to visit with you about your child. Thank you for reading this, we need to band together for...

I took this drug in 1987 from the time I was twenty weeks pregnant until I delivered emergency C-section December 1987, eight weeks early. My son's umbilical cord was only 5 inches long and he weighed 4lb 14oz. Since he was almost two years old, he has had all kinds of immune disorders. He had ITP when he was two and he has had MRSA, staph infections, chronic allergies, depression and right now at the age of 25 he is having diagnosis to figure out if he has ulcers or whatever. I even pay a lot of money for him to take a immune support supplement. It has been very frustrating over the years. ## I too took this drug at 20 wks and deliver via c-section in Nov. 1988. My son was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. His Apgar score was very low. We have experienced just a...

My husband and I have had our daughter, which is now 30, tested for everything and the doctors can't seem to be able to give us a diagnosis, and things are not getting any better. My beautiful daughter has struggled and suffered so much and it breaks my heart to know that the Yutopar that was given to me, affected my baby. My daughter is the one who suffers from it on a daily basis. My second child is normal, and I did not take the drug while carrying him. I would really like to talk to all of you, something needs to be done to care for these kids that are now adults that can not cope. They sleep, eat, are extremely depressed, suicidal thoughts, learning problems, unable to conform to society, lies, bi-polar, anti-social, can't function in everyday life and with everyday problem...
